Gilden's Golden Moo, will take down Bonnie. I am sure of it. So very sure of it. Xavier is quite sure of it, even though his cow is being pitted against his family's bovine offerings. I have faith though. Go go Goldie, you have Lord Sanna to guide you. You can do it.

With nearly every wandering, a new memory is brought forth. Some leave the heart aching, but many bring a bubbling of mirth that is hard to contain. When I saw the young lords and ladies dancing this evening, I remembered the game that Lady Rosehips and I used to play whenever there was a ball, to see how many times along the pass I could make her partner's eyes turn my way, or vice versa. An innocent game, though I cannot say it didn't ever end up in a flare of temper. Though one thing I can say is that, Lady Rosehips, being of much more ample...charms, than I, was a very fierce competitor for the gaze indeed.

And another one whose journals I dare not seek out, not yet, to know if she too is gone. I will, when I am brave enough. But tonight, feeling the warm glow of a fine wine, and enjoying a cooling walk after the press of so many excited partygoers, perhaps once I got to the lonely part of the streets here and there I might have danced in her honor, and smiled to hear her triumphant laughter in the autumn night's wind.

I truly wish I had the kind of mind that it takes to write beautiful poetry but alas, while Jayus has given me many gifts, that is not one of them!

I managed to get a few pieces of honeysilk and now sit here holding it and am uninspired on just what to ask the tailor to do with it. I guess a new dress will have to wait till I decide.

Relationship Note on Fortunato

Such a talented artist. And one who speaks wisely when one takes time to really settle down into conversation with him. He does the Whispers proud.

The Grand Opening of the Pravus Ward was an affair I will not soon forget. The wine, the company, and the ward itself (I admit to getting a little lost so was able to explore more than I had intended to, at first) were truly a feast for the eyes and spirit. Conversations with extended family, old friends and new, were diverse and quite enjoyable. Nina Autumndale's fan favors were all so stunning, it was hard to choose just one. I'm going to place mine in the Redrain Grand Library as a reminder of the event. I even danced competitively! Except not really, but sort of. All told, it was a grand time and I am grateful for such generous hospitality and fun.

I tried to go to this Pravus party. I was barred from crossing the bridge. This was a complete surprise! Seems I am barred from the PRavus district. I have no idea why!

I attended the third Feast of the Senses held by Archduchess Jaenelle. I went with trepidation, unsure who I would be paired with, and what we might have to try to eat while blindfolded. I shouldn't have been nervous though, Jaenelle hosted beautifully, and my trust in her was not misplaced. The food was delicious, truly... most of it. There were perhaps a couple courses that did not please me as much as others, but overall... divine. And, the conversation I had with my companion for the evening was fabulous. Thank you, Jaenelle and he who wore the crimson sash, for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Scholar! I attended the opening of Pravus and left with a...something that sounds like a dead duck! I cant wait to use it!

Also...it's really pretty as you make yourself there. It's not a bad ward. I'll have to look around more..

Relationship Note on Delilah

Too many have seen fit to ask about more cow races. Lady Kalani is near insistent that each of the Grayson Duchies host one. Bisland would be next, and Duchess Delilah would need to host Shepherd's.

The bovine grand prix looms in the coming days. It may not be the diversion others seek, but I am certain that we shall best Baroness Gilden's champion. Not that I think that Bessie cares much about the cup, to be fair.

I have allowed myself, once again, to spend more time with my gardens than I have with people. I think Harlan worries too much that I will lose all touch with humanity and care only for my plants. This is not true! I love people and their company. It's just that the autumn is the best time to prune that which you wish to stop growing. It's how we shape the trees in the orangery.

People are still very much welcome in my life. People who bother to read this could even ask me out for a drink. Or a walk.

So thanks to some very generous nobles, Scholar, I've got some duskweave - and some honeysilk, too, which is going to look amazing on Tanith. Now we just have to work out what to do with it.

A nice surcoat over a warm gown? Hmm. Maybe get a bit of fur for the cuffs and the hem of the gown, too, in proper silky fashion.

I have just read the proclamation announcing the betrothal of my cousin Sebastian to Princess Adrienne Valardin. It is truly heart-warming to see a love-match being committed to, and even more so when the politics of power could so easily have been deemed a higher priority. I truly do hope that both of them find their union to be as fruitful and fulfilling as was my own.
