This day was a long time in coming and I have no words. I am filled with joy and yet there will be much to grieve and adjust to. I promised that both of us would do our best to move forward in joy and not linger over what was so normal for us. To love someone so much to feel pride in their freedoms and yet sadness with the changes to come ... it is a complicated place to be. I am just as certain that as time passes, I will only feel more pride and joy and what my dearest friend has grown to be.

The resilience and ingenuity of the people of Arx have always been our greatest assets, and I am confident that we will continue to overcome any obstacles that come our way.

General of Kennex - you might turn out to be a good drinking buddy after all. You just gotta do more of the drinking part.

The salty air of the sea keeps beconing me to sail. I can only stand the fetid air in Arx for so long before I must set out. Now where is me first mate, not seen her anywhere as of late!

How tempting it is to champion those we most cherish, rather than support them enough to champion themselves.

I'm told Trevor's sleep was less fitful than the night before. I cannot help but wonder if passing through the grove as we returned took hold of his dreams.

We should have kept to our plans to save our return to Arx to autumn. The cold that lingers at Glacial Grove had me misthinking that the city would be less brutal in its summer heat.

Its a contrast I find odd, though we are not so many years in those lands to know its peculiarities. Odd or not, there is the matter of food to consider, with the seasons' plantings thwarted for so long.

Stifling though it is, Arx better positions us to make arrangements that will see our people through the coming winter, through the coming year.

Relationship Note on Jaenelle

Well done, Niece. I rather enjoyed the Feast. Only my second one since returning. The food and the service was spectacular. I look forward to next year's.

The simplest of the meal. The sardines. Their saltiness helped build the rest of the meal into the savory and sweet. To find a mix of the delicate melting sweet of fudge upon tongue at end.

A complete mess. Each feast is a growth upon the last. From the very first to set foot within as a fill spot... The experience within is unique and delicious.

I don't have any family, so in the event of my untimely demise? Duchess Evelynn Helianthus gets to look at my Black journals and decide what to do with them.

I suggest bringing libations when you do, Duchess.

I've gotten the most beautiful pieces of amethyst recently. I've been keeping them in the back room, to admire while I work. I should probably try selling them, though.

I had the privilege of meeting with the Orazian Sentinels, who fought with us in the Mourning Isles, as they celebrated the end of the war. I was able to do a bunch of sketches and observe them with each other. Everyone of them has a story, filled with strife and struggle but also with hope and perseverance. It was an honour to try to capture this sentiment through art. I brought the sketches back and have taken that to create what I hope is a work of art that captures what I saw and felt in their company. The painting is finished, and I am trying to find the best place to hang it. This is always the part I find the most challenging. Finding just the right spot. Somewhere visible and can be appreciated by others as we remember how important that freedom is.

It was hard work, and difficult, and there is a lot more to do - but the attitude of the Oathlands towards the Queen of Endings and Her Harlequins has softened a little more, it seems. I'm proud to have been a part of that effort.
