When I was not much more than a boy myself, on one of those glorious Setarco spring days when the scent of citrus blossoms fills the air and the sea is as blue as a jewel, I had the honor of being asked to perform for one of the Pravus princesses' birthdays. She was only a girl then, a slip of a thing all big blue eyes and blonde hair. I remember quite clearly what I played for her -- and it seems she did too, and now, both of us being in Arx, fate has aligned us so that our paths may run parallel for a while. Time has changed her, as it changes us all, but I have seen so far a generous spirit and a lively mind, and both are good company.
I have spent some time wandering the city and met some others aligned in deed or in fealty to the Pravus as well -- Egon Maw, one of Princess Graziella's other proteges. A scholarly sort. I find him quite interesting, although I get the sense he does his best not to be. And the Blackheart of Pravus, Raven, who seems to be every bit as swashbuckling as one would imagine. There was also a brief run-in with two gentlefolk at a tavern, one of whom I shall be quite sure not to call a Captain again, but not truly long enough for a proper first impression. The general sense I get is that ... I have a great deal of work ahead of me.
I have been praying a great deal lately. For inspiration and guidance, for those who were lost to rejoin the Wheel, for their loved ones to find peace and an ease to suffering. Strange to be in such a time of great personal action, yet also to be drawn to such introspection as well.

I must say I enjoyed the Marquis Cirroch's dinner. The company was delightful and northern hospitality always makes me smile.
I am grateful to those who seek to draw me from my little haven at the Hart in to the world again. And, I will say with all my heart that Prince Patrizio is a most warm and charming escort. I'm so grateful to him as I am to others with whom I am close who think to invite me out.
It seems, I dare say, that this summer shall be a rather enjoyable one. I am ecstatic and look forward to seeing what comes.

1: "Things were good for so long, why did it have to change?"
2: "You were poorly prepared. Change is inevitable."
1: "So... Be ready for misery always then?"
2: "No. You're thinking about it backwards. Be ready for change always. How things are isn't how they will always be."

1: I know I'm small in the world...I don't know if this is all there is of me.
2: But when you think about it, aren't you monumental? A unique series of reactions, capable of thought. This world, stars, and beyond: all more common place than what you are. You are more of a phenomenon than you can realize.

I was there. I brought soldiers and sailors of Amadeo to help. My people died alongside those of Tremorus innocents and their defenders.
I will always remember that......

Many thanks to Countess Aella Ravenseye, Lady Ivy Blackram, Prince Patrizio Pravus, Lady Mikani Crovane, Princess Valencia Velenosa, Duke Hadrian Mazetti, and Lady Kiera Wyvernheart for coming to enjoy and try the honey that we'll be presenting to the city soon.
This is of course after Master Ripley Thornburn is given the honey that he so politely requested for consumption only.
We almost had a full deck, though with the deal that we had much fun was had. Something that I hadn't realized that I needed for some time now.
Tonight's dinner was a calm and lovely reminder of what the compact should be always striving for.

Like I was caught in a storm onboard the Good Ship. Don't know how to sail -- didn't know what I was doing -- and knew that I wasn't going to be able to swim, so, I just held on. Until the sea swelled, and the waves grew.
Woke up on the grass.
Realized, that I had fallen asleep outside and it was just Goofus waking me up.
Damn dog drool.
It got all over this agricultural report.

While I've made an effort to advise every attendee of the Salon's gatherings of late that I've appreciated their presence? I'll memorialize it now, in writing.
To those who have joined us at the Empirical to permit themselves a little relaxation, a bit of idle banter, a bundle of debate, and permitted themselves an opportunity to discuss their views on the selected subject: you have my appreciation for your minds, your time, and your efforts. It gives my mind and my heart the warm and fuzzies to see so many in open discussion and debate, keeping their minds open to the views of others, while still standing in support of their views. Even those I have disagreed with or found to have opinions that run counter to my own, I still respect your views and yourself for having the courage to speak them among a mixed crowd.
Thank you to those who have helped to create the environment that the Salon has achieved today.

We recently held that private gathering to discuss a painting. The donation was made on the condition that the creator remain anonymous and I have respected that request and will continue to do so until told otherwise. The piece itself is a magnificent work and I can easily find myself becoming lost in seeking to unravel its mysteries. I've decided that the artwork will be put on display well into the future for the benefit of the Salon's members, that it may hopefully inspire future discussions and theorizing as to the meaning of the piece. It is a thought provoking piece that opens the gates for the imagination to run wild; if only you'll let it.
Additionally, we are looking into the matter of redecorating and some light renovations for the Salon's headquarters, the Empirical. Through the significant generosity of Duchess Cambria Mazetti, we'll be able to see those updates carried out to create a more comfortable environment for the guests of the Empirical. Ideally that greater comfort will translate directly into an overall increase in the exchange of ideas and open discussion. I'm thinking a plaque may be in order to commemorate the charity provided.
All in all, it has been a great last few weeks and I'm eager to press forward into the next. Whether that is in personal, House, or Salon business. All of it is an opportunity to meet and engage with new people, new ideas, and new opportunities.
