I can't wait for the Spring. I feel isolated, as if watching everything from far away. The cold reminds me too much of the nightmare. It keeps me from going out as much as I'd like.

There has been a dizzying amount of preparation for the wedding reception lately. I can not wait for people to join us in celebrating this union and seeing all the work behind it. Ida's daggers are beautiful! Noah has been such a wonderful help is making decisions, who knew he was such a good party planner?

I have to agree with Lark. The peerage only works as far as each level respects the authority granted to those below them as well as they do the authority granted to them from those above them. To tread on this is to tread on the bedrock foundation of the compact.

Some days I miss sitting in my tower swing, rocking high above the city as if at that moment the world has simply stopped. I need to find time to do that once more. If anyone wishes to join, the swing is big enough.

Scholars. Please help me find the information on the Nefer'khat queens I am seeking this week. Please do not let this take as long as the final bits of research that I did on those who might be god touched. That was. . . torture for a someone like me who is eager to learn new things. Maybe explore new places. I promise. I won't flip a table, no matter how hard I want to, if we cannot find it this week, but... I'll pay a bonus to anyone who help dig through the stacks if we don't find it. A very handsome bonus.%f
Of course, maybe I SHOULD want it to linger longer, because once this task is complete, I'll once more be digging into darker things; the prospect of that turns my stomach upside down.

Met a worthy new sparring partner, Sir Tovell is a formidable swordsman I'm honored to have faced. That's good because I've managed to anger another sparring partner and mentor so I will be needing the practice.

I keep coming up with lists for more things to do. This week, it's all about griffons. Aiden had stated a project so very long ago, to try and bring griffons back to Arvum. It was rough going for him, and at one point I know he gave up working on it. It can seem pretty daunting, trying to do a thing when there are obstacles in the way. I should know. I've got said obstacles that are much greater than the ones he had working on a project. That project stalled for me. But, perhaps, I can get movement on this.

I've sent out messages to those involved previously, to see if they still want to work on it. It'll be good to get my mind on SOMETHING other than Bastion, so I'm not completely consumed by the preparations we're doing there. And griffons? They're pretty damned cool, right? I'm hoping that those that helped Aiden can help me fill in some gaps. I didn't get to talk to him much about it before the war, other than to try and give him hints about where some have been sighted by a friend. We never did get to talk about that, alas. He would have enjoyed hearing the friend's tale.

Plots and plans are starting to come to fruition. House Grayson will soon be sending folk scouting inside Bastion. I have a broad team of people working on another related project. While I haven't been so very hopeful for a very long time, now that we're working toward finally moving to do something I'm starting to feel maybe there's hope yet.

It's still very hard. The not knowing if many of your family and friends are still alive, and which are dead. I witnessed thousands of people dying, literally, just on my street that night, and I'm still not really that ready to talk about it. I find myself looking over my shoulder all the time just to make sure some moving plant or vine isn't trying to grab hold of me. I still have nightmares about it all.

I try my best to be keep how I'm feeling in check in front of the children, particularly since Mason is still away on some business. I've received a letter from him at least, so I'm assured that he's fine. Everything is fine. For now. At least.

My birthday party with Cesare was beautiful. I'm so pleased with how the conservatory has come together, and I do believe it is finally ready to host public events. In just a handful of days, spring will be here and I'll be able to open the doors tot he garden so guests can move freely between the two spaces. This is very exciting! Cesare, of course, looked stunning. Does he ever not? That blouse! What a fabulous fabric that was. And, well, his position as Softest Whisper is very well deserved. I'm not sure I would have been able to handle the party crashers half as well as I did if it weren't for Cesare's steady guidance and cool head. I am constantly impressed by him, and I am truly among the luckiest of patrons to have had him agree to be my protege.

Afterward, my husband and I attended the Assembly of Peers. I am not sure what I was expecting, it being my first opportunity to attend since coming to the city. It sounded as though I might be witness to great turmoil, but instead it was a fairly standard dose of politics. I suspect far more interesting comments were being made too quietly for the whole of the gathered to hear. Though, I admit disappointment with some of the comments that were heard and should have been left unsaid entirely. Not that I am any stranger to saying out loud that which should have been kept to myself.

So many things to think about.

A last will and testament that might be found filed with the Faith from Talia Baseborn:

To the Crafters Guild, I leave the wealth of my materials, not to include the alaricite, to be woven into new works of art. For inspiration and history, I as well leave the simple jewelry casket of gold which contains my collection of works by Guildmaster Joscelin Arterius.

To the Faith and Dominus Aureth, I leave all my coin for all of their good works.

To the Red Lady, the Queen of Aetheris, Ruby: if I do not get a chance to use the boons that are owed, the payment that you are indebted for the dress that you bought, then I request, if you will still honor them, that you will give one boon first, to my lovely, incomparable patron, Princess Berenice Velenosa. I wish for the second boon that you bestow it on Princess Zara Valardin and the third on Princess Sabella Grayson, for their support of the same work that you bought.

Last but foremost, the only person in my life that has been fully my own, fully my dream, fully my friend—Evaristo Arterius. I leave the alaricite in my supplies, so that he may craft himself some protection or weapon, and think of me, so that he might continue to fight for a better world. I also leave him the steelsilk gown known as A Visit From Inspiration, so that he may always seek her, and anything else amongst my possession that he might wish to keep.

Everything else should be given to the Faith to distribute amongst those who have need of it.

I'm not particularly sorry that I missed the recent Assembly. From what I hear, it was hardly that exciting. Besides. My family was there in good numbers, and I had nothing pressing to present. Instead, I had a nap since it was my birthday, and that was delightful. Plus there will be future Assemblies.

To those who complain that it is a great misfortune to die before our time, I would ask: what time? What has been given all of us is as a loan of money, only no certain day is fixed for payment. And when that loan is called in, what reason is there to complain? For we have by then reaped the rewards of what we have borrowed, which was never ours to begin with.

While packing for a trip, I find myself dwelling on the nature of fear. Namely how to counter and minimize its effects. It isn't as if you can bottle bravery and hand it out when it's most needed. Would that it were that easy.

Relationship Note on Savio

So much went into our political contract between Amadeo and Proscipi. I spent two years into gaining a friendship with House Proscipi by aiding them in numerous ways and then fighting with them by their side in two massive wars... Then there were the exceptional circumstances that had to align...

It truly feels like for the Gods themselves made it possible.

I will soon get to call you my Lord husband in the eyes of all... but the Archlector is not going to make it easy....

Still, with you at my side the future is going to be well worth living.
