I find myself in quiet contemplation following the Assembly of Peers, wondering what acts might qualify to be on the same level as the summation of the noble experience such that elevation to their level might be necessary. As was stated, it ought be spoken of for generations, just as our very own fine nobles have so proven with their own exploits.

If our own peerage is to be taken as legendary in its own right, I look forward to hearing more about the feats each and every member of the peerage has accomplished that are similarly legendary. I would love to receive letters about such acts so that I might know how high the bar is for ennoblement. I'm certain they are quite riveting tales, after all, and it would be a shame not to know about what my betters are accomplishing so that I might know what to aspire to, some day.

Please, send your correspondences of the time you laced your boots on your own without delay.

While I was unfortunately unable to attend this most recent Assembly of Peers due to the demands of duty, I was disappointed to hear the response to my uncle, the Lord Aedric Blackshore's, address of the Peerage. His address seemed to be turned into a question of the sovereignty of those houses that have caused the most recent clamor over the issue of nobility and those elevated to it. How it was interpreted in such a manner is a mystery, to me, but I would echo it more plainly and invite an explanation from any who believes they might be able to offer one.

The recent proclamation by Count Duarte Amadeo prompted the Marquessa Tyche Inverno as Voice of House Pravus to call for a moratorium on elevations of commoners to the Peerage. Notably absent, however, was any condemnation by the Marquessa of her own vassal for such a foolish public statement, or any proclamations by House Pravus itself claiming responsibility for the ennoblement of the Count to begin with. How are we to preach accountability if we will not accept it for ourselves?

Needing a bit change of scenery, I decided to go and find myself some colors. It's not that I don't like the snow. I LOVE it. But I needed to see something bright! So this day I chose the butterfly garden. It was beautiful and full of life. I layed there and just watched. Sometimes you just need a different view to make your heart lighter.

Let it be said scholar, that my cousin Fiora is not only an amazing physician, but she is also an amazing archer. The way she helped take down that giant with a cleaver? Exceptional!

Also learned not to piss off Zakhar during his breakfast. He's a force with that pot. Yes, I know. I need to rest. I'm going, I'm going!

Relationship Note on Desiree

I've known Lady Desiree Wyrmguard since we were young. Younger, at least. A prank - which I thought she would have found as hilarious as I did - went a little wrong and it has soured things. Not so much that don't remain on friendly terms, but enough. One day I'm sure I'll remedy this.

Back in Arx again after some time spent out on the great seas. In time for the next grat catastrophe, no doubt. Well, as the family says, we're ever rising.

Duchess Isabeau knighted me, and I have left the Crimson Blades. I now have a room at the Telmar Tower. I wear a red cloak, least when in the city, it's a bit too much of a HERE I AM when in the forest.

Trying to pick up on old lessons of knighthood my parents used to teach me. I forgot most of them, it was over a decade ago now, and I wasn't paying that much attention back then.

I was very pleased to finally complete the rooms behind the Fire Bee this week. I hope it will be of good use to those who do not have shelter, to lift one concern from their satchel of worries toward settling in and becoming part of Arx's society. I truly believe that while charity is important, it is no less important to preserve one's dignity. It is not always easy to ask for help and so there is no need to ask. Single people, couples or families can simply walk in and claim a bed for the night.

May Gild bless you.

I failed you, I think. I got so caught up in what I was doing, that I let things slip. And now after all the water gone over the falls, I don't think I will be able to make it right. For what it's worth, I am sorry. And I include you in my prayers.

The Joust: Simply fantastic. The final was riveting and so very close between Alis and Lady Brigid. Now to harass the seamstresses and jewelers to ensure my clothes are 'just so' for the closing in a couple of days. And then a whole laundry list of still more to do. Charity auctions with a twist, more mines, maybe after a certain thing happens in the summer I can proceed with plans for the river port.

First Bloom arrives and I confess I am looking forward to it. The dawning of spring always gives me a certain joy and not simply because it means I have lived another year, but because it gives me even greater excuse to celebrate. First Bloom gives way to the feast days of Farmer's Rest, and I will be honoring Petrichor this year with a Feast of Flasks. Drink will abound and a prize given to the best of the Feast. The prize for everyone else will be a solid night's sleep, followed by what will surely be an unforgettable morning.

I am ever so proud of my cousin and all of her success. She hosted a joust and it was spectacular. From the decor to the entertainment, I was literally on the edge of me seat the entire time.

All of the riders were impressive athletes and for a moment I wondered if I should seek the tutelage of a trainer but quickly wiped the thought from existence.

Bravo cousin! I look forward to many more festivities.

Those who suffer are apt to fix their eyes on the very worst; those who do not, towards the very best.

The battlefield cares for neither the worst nor the best; it takes who and what it wishes, regardless of how we see the moment.

This is why the best generals never let themselves be judged by such an arbitrary and capricious thing as war.

I got to spend time with my cousin, Lady Carissa Malespero, during my birthday! It was shaping up to be a rather mundane passing - missives to reply to, notes to review, lessons to plan, but she came by and stayed a while. We don't get to spend nearly enough time together, and I couldn't have asked for a better gift than time with my family. She got to see the twins, who are back in the city. They're getting so big. They'll be a year old in a month! That seems impossible.

I do hope Neilda, wherever she is lately, had a good birthday. I haven't see her since before the battle at Pieros. That's nearing a year past, too. I'm almost scared to blink, wondering what I might miss as time passes so quickly. So many projects are in a state of half-done. Maybe my sister has the right idea; passing the days at sea may be less busy.

And Cesare, my incredible, hardworking, gorgeous protege, I hope his birthday was indulgent. If it wasn't? I will simply have to make up for it at our party later.
