Relationship Note on Lasha

It might be time to follow the next leg of this journey. Much to Lasha's glee, gods scholar, I can see his smile beaming from ear to ear when I say this out loud.

Thank you to the medics and doctors over the last couple of months. I'm sorry to have caused everyone worry.
Lassies Clarissies (Lady Clarisse Charon), Lady Kalani Seliki, Lady Mabessells (Mabelle) Laurent, Docteries Lassies (Lady Medeia Eswynd), Lady Ivy Blackram, and countless others that have worked on keeping me on this side of the veil.

So there seems to be some kind of questionnaire people are volunteering to place in their whites. Seems an interesting exercise at least, so I'll answer as well as I can.

1. What are you afraid of?
Never figuring out who I am supposed to be or what my place in this world is. Besides the obvious answers, I am Lady Sylvana Leporidae nee Chatreuxe-DeVirre, formerly of Brindleberry Wood, leaving my home has made me reflect on myself and realize that I never did figure out what I wanted with my life. I hope I figure it out before it's too late.

2. What are your opinions on honor?
Honor is important. It's how you present yourself to the world and show that you are a person of integrity. Once it's lost it can be nearly impossible to restore again.
3. What path do you see for yourself?
Not seeing the path before me is perhaps what frightens me the most. Sure I can make guesses, I can ascribe my hopes, but honestly those things are not for the whites. I hope the path for myself is good, and that I can enact positive change in my future, I just don't know where that will wind up being.

4. You can give one piece of advice to one who really needs advice to live by. What do you tell them? Live your life as if everything could be taken from you in an instant, but not so foolishly you forget that there are consequences for your actions. This is something many learn the hard way, and not all are so lucky as I was to get a chance to fix my mistakes.

I attended a feast of the senses, hosted by Archduchess and Princess Jaenelle Velanosa, an adventure to be sure, though I am still trying to figure out who my companion was that night. He was gentle, careful and the breathtaking gown I wore, remained pristine throughout the evening. From the conversations of those around us, that did not seem to be the case for some. I, now find myself listening for that familar voice in the hopes I may discover who my companion was. He was charming and made me laugh. I found the entire evening indulgent and sensual. He was not afraid of touch, to let my hands glide along his arms to find his mouth, and I found that made me feel more comfortable when he did the same. He is careful and delightful. And a mystery.

Relationship Note on Titus

To my Lord Titus of House Vaevici,

I concur that the choice made by the former Duke of House Bisland was both noble and exemplary, but I am uncertain as to why you hope it might serve to be inspire the people of the Northlands.

Are you suggesting that the Northlanders are lack in courage or loyalty? Are you suggesting that they are neither training nor preparing for war right now? From personal experience I know well that Northlanders are as courageous and loyal as any, and that they are always training and preparing for war.

The misery of today lies at the door of those who seek too eagerly the challenges of war for naught but personal gain, knowing that they can throw to it men, women, and children who would otherwise contest their motives.

The winter is cold up north.

I wish you fortune in your pursuit of war.

-- General Piccola of House Tessere.

With the new friends and acquaintances that I have made in the last few weeks, and the existing friendships that have deepened of late, it is all too tempting to wonder if it is the gods' will that I am in such good company.

Not much new yet, but I have been continuing Stalwart's training as well as my own. Georgine has been busy with her shop and her new clothing line, so I am mostly practicing arms, strength and the horse. The call has yet to go out for knights in the field, but it could come any day and I want to be ready to stand against the enemies of Laurent. We will have nothing to be ashamed of when Sir Reggie finally makes it to Arx!

Relationship Note on Aine

Firey hair to temper any sword,

She came in out of the cold, little bothered by the light snow that fell over the city that evening. Red hair blazed from the dreary tones of grey that washed the background behind her. A temper, warm, bright and it lit the Ambassador more than the fire roaring in the fireplace. We spoke for a brief time before business took me away and I offered to teach her the way of using a sword. I believe she will be a very interesting pupil to teach.

Received a hard lesson yesterday from Lord Teague in the use of medium arms. That man is huge and he knows his trade. On the training grounds, he pounded me down with a training axe, alternating teaching pointers with demonstrations that eventually left me with more skill but also a bug headache. A test of my commitment, but necessary if I am called more lawless regions for research or healing services. I may never be a knight, but I can at least strive to be a tough bite to chew for some bandit. Or worse.

Studies with Legate Bianca continue. Lessons on the Burning are especially hard to stomach, the indignity, the sacrilege and the sheer horrifying shock of all the knowledge lost make these hard to pursue. I persevere, however, and feel that much more committed to Lord Vellichor's Purpose and Service every time I swallow another one.

Congratulations cousin. I am certain the new responsibilities and duties will keep you too busy to train more kittens that eat only my slippers or attempt to shred my ankles, for which I am immeasurably grateful.

Being serious, though, I have no doubt you will be a fine and honorable Duke for House Bisland, and very much look forward to seeing all you will achieve.

It’s been rather busy, going to the battles at the Scythian Sea to encountering some interesting people in Arx.

I presented a gift of a Sangrinite lute to Savio Pontelaeus, I hope he’ll use it in the future even if for private functions. He seemed very happy with it although I’m not sure if that was delirium caused from his serious wounds or if he was actually happy. One will have to find out later. The physicians however deserve praise. While one might survive a brush with death, it’s their skills which return the survivors in fighting form. They all fight on the frontline of mortality, a soldier each of them.

I found out who my companion was at the recent feast and I’m very pleasantly surprised. A Clement noblewoman.

I had a chance to meet with a Pravus princess in passing and there’s some interesting thoughts she hinted at, something secret to explore. We also have an interest in collecting certain objects. I’ll have to see how our paths cross again.

A Duke set aside his title and peerage privileges to become a knight of the King's Own. Sir Gabriel Bisland I only know through writings, but to me the Bisland motto should change to "None More Loyal" after his sacrifice and example. I hope others in the northern lands find a boost of courage and loyalty to pick up arms, train hard and prepare to war with our common enemies.

I’m looking forward to the war. I feel that while it will be extremely challenging, our allies will all perform spectacularly.

He will be a wonderful, capable Duke and my heart swells with pride for him and Bisland.

Just as soon as he's done reveling in his youthful immaturity. I'm almost certain that's what he's doing. He's probably dressed up and avoiding all responsibility until the very last minute.

He used to do that as a child and teenager too. I don't think he's grown up. Why would he? Also I'm fairly sure it would have made the headlines - "MICHAEL BISLAND GROWS UP - CANCELS ALL PEACOCK SHENANIGANS" and to be honest I haven't heard of such a preposterous headline just yet.

That reminds me, I'm going to have to drop in on all the Bislands to say hello again. This time, I should probably bring a gift.

"Fucking... Shavs."
-Some dead fucker, last words.

I may enjoy this more than I ought, especially given the good men that bled to see if done, but seeing s body who loathes Prodigals with every drop of blood die at Prodigal hands is just ...poetic.

My new sons came about a month ahead of when I expected them too, but I have been assured that this is not unusual for twins and that they are perfectly healthy. Ian had a name ready for the first, and so we call him Elowyn. Those who travelled with us to a certain valley some time back might remember that name. The other we call Azrael, another name I found in the Bisland historical records that holds special meaning to me.

I expect to resume normal activities again in a few weeks. For now I see to my own healing while I bond with my babies.

My lungs are full of dust, and my hands are covered in smudged ink and smears of soot. I swear, it all looked dry when I leafed through the many volumes, but the repetition of leafing through that many texts is, apparently, an experience that accumulates rather quickly.

I have a newfound respect for the work scholars do, I will say that, if nothing else.
