Relationship Note on Domonico
After some time and arranging some of the matters of my late brother's estate, I can now pause to write these words.
Brother,
You were strong-willed and passionate in the causes you believed in. Drilled at a young age within the Malvici Army which remained with you until you took your step upon the Wheel. While we may not have agreed on everything or each other's approach there was always something of mutual respect there. Respect and pride in the Malvici name.
May your turn be short upon the Wheel.

So much sadness there has been in the Magnotta Manor over the past months; first with the passing of Countess Aahana, then with the unexpected death of the Count. Perhaps there /is/ such a thing as dying of a broken heart, and I can only hope that their souls find each other again with the next turn of the wheel.
It was a welcome thing in the midst of all that sorrow to see the familiar face of Lord Artorius returned to the city to retake the title of Count. We have much to catch up on, much to do.

This is the way of struggle.
When the time comes, there is no moment for reasoning. If you have not prepared fully before-hand, there is most often shame. Reading books and listening to people's talk are for the purpose of prior resolution. Otherwise, one should be in the moment because one cannot know what is going to happen next. Victory and defeat are matters of the temporary force of circumstances. That is where there is no certainty; there is only struggle.
Struggle is the pursuit of justice in a time of tyranny. It is the last blood spilt from a life worth praising. It is the pull of reason over emotion. It is the only war truly sacrificing for. It is the crashing of the waves on the beach. It is what all great warriors seek. It is what all generals see. It is what all cowards avoid. It is the bedrock of society. It is the foundation of law. It defines honor, valor, and goodness. And it never changes.
This is the final part.

I beg your pardon, Count. I would never be so bold as to imply anyone /must/ attend an event. I believe my own event was simply mentioned in passing, as much of my current work involves preparing for it. And you did ask us for advice on what to attend and whose company to seek out in order to catch up with news of the city! I seem to recall warning you about the pace of things here in Arx, and you replied to my warning with an insistence on languor. Now you know, my dear sir, a Whisper's advice is rarely anything but prudently placed.

Those who know me well know that I abhor the cold. Why is it that is snows nearly every hour of every day in the city of Arx? Is this not absurd? Thankfully, I have found myself in the company of family and friends who have helped me find the beauty in such a frozen season. I have them to thank for pulling me out of such dark places.

My first DAY back in the city was busy. I heard some rumors of Bastion, caught up with Lord Martino and Countess Thea, arranged futures for Magnotta. Then I was notified of three socials I must attend from three individuals; Softest Whisper, a Princess, and saucy Lady. Whom I'm taking to what remains unseen. Then I drank deeply for my lamenting of Count Domonico, sent letters out for the support I received from Marquis Gaspard, and responding to inquiries that were concerning the children of our late cousin.
More drinking transpired.
Then I met a Lord that I would drink with again, for he has some fine wine but I suspect finer company. There was also an old Prince there and a young Lady. The conversation was mostly about Bastion and war, and realizing how much time I've been away and that I absolutely know nothing of the current affairs...
At last, I got to wind up my day. Thank you to lady Red, who gave me a warm welcome home during such cold nights.

Its been so good to come back. While my travels went smoothly, despite the bumps and a few ups and downs. The experience I gained was irreplaceable. On my return, I once again got see Medeia. She was still as pretty and charming as i last saw her. Haakon seems to be the same every time i return then depart. really and I find great comfort in that. I see so much change that its nice to know that I can still annoy him. Being the only Eswynd that chose the Social path over the raiding path, i feel it as all worked out as it should. I had tea with lady Zoey Kennex. She has wonderful taste. I look forward to seeing Odin and Norah soon. Many more things here I have yet to find and I am looking forward to seeing them all.

Relationship Note on Corban
I have been blessed in my search for knowledge on knights to meet Sir Corban Telmar. A pair of chance encounters on the same day led to enlightening conversation. The man sent me away with a list of books to read and an invitation to observe the King's Own in training. I have known knights, before, but to have found myself graced with the First Captain's tutelage has been an eye opening experience.
I was surprised to find the books he had written contained much of my own values and beliefs. Perhaps it should not have been so surprising, given we were both raised within the Faith and Compact, but on the surface? The differences between a knight from the Oathlands and a Lycene married into the Isles can seem stark. It was interesting to find that I have even behaved like a knight in several situations. Sir Corban is a skilled writer, which he will likely deny, but he made the information simple to understand without feeling as though anything was being lost.
When the opportunity to observe the training came about, I stood with a small gathering that watched the knights do drills in awe. One little boy declared he would grow up to be a knight just like them. I made the child a deal - I hope he holds to it. The training, however, was worth the awe of the spectators. To my eye? They performed flawlessly under Sir Corban's command. I am grateful for his patience and humor in helping me gain a better understanding of the commitments knights make.

That feeling when you have so much you want to accomplish, but aren't sure where and how to start to make each effort worthwhile. To do this, you really need that first, but to have that, you need to do this other thing, and so on. I could do that, but if I do it after this, it will have a more markedly beneficial result. But if I don't do either because the timing isn't perfect, then I'm no further ahead.
So.
I suppose I will have to do everything I possibly can, all at the same time, until I collapse. This is the way.
