Been a while since I hauled my ass over to write a White Journal but with Calypso gone...

My niece was one of the finest people I knew. A true Malvici. Her... life fell hard on her in the end, but she died a true warrior's death - protecting her troops and destroying her enemies.

I only wish we could have mended the rifts between us. But somehow I think she kept widening it on her own.

May she be granted peace in the next life, where she may return as the warrior-general she was. I only hope it will be in a time of peace.

There are two colors one should wear to a visit in an apiary. If you only people knew which.

I was surprised when Klavdiya told me I had not been to the Archives since before the poetry picnic. The last month has proven to be a busy one, and I suspect the first month of spring will always be from here out. My usual duties to Eswynd and Saik, my patients and students, along with the twins' birthday and tending the gardens after winter have kept me with little time to rest.

The twins. Nothing prepared me for them getting teeth. I knew it would happen. But I did not know they would chew on my fingers. Or my jewelry. Or the dog's tail. Thankfully, Butterpup is endlessly patient with them. The cat on the other hand? She seems to have lost her interest in them now that the children are moving on their own and grabbing at things. The hall is certainly not a quiet place most days.

Sometimes it hurts to let go. But I suppose it has to happen sooner or later. Almost like the pruning of a rose bush, in anticipation for more beautiful things.

Relationship Note on Cirroch

I planted my apple tree this morning in memory of Cirroch. Built a nice little circle of stones and bricks around it as well with his name engraved upon one of them. I know it ain't much, but as long as this tree stands, his name won't be forgotten.

Now is the time to set aside reservations to set upon the courses we need to remind our enemies that we will not suffer the killing of our own.

Devastation hits, twice in one week. Skye and Calypso. My heart is absolutely broken.

I think I'll drink under the stars at the Botanical Gardens.

Relationship Note on Cirroch

I have been sitting on my thoughts for awhile now, old friend. You sacrificed yourself in combat, you saved so many lives and you went out a hero.

I miss you so much. I miss competing with you. I miss our talks.

I am planting a tree in your name at Clement House. Apple I think. Something simple that will grow to be as strong as you once were.

Relationship Note on Jasher

A bottle of rum, shared tales and memories of friends who have gone, a shoulder to discretely weep on and not be pushed away, nor taken advantage of in a weak moment either helps face life's problems. Speaking of dangers faced, worries that become nightmares, there are not many to whom one can talk about those things. Such shared times build a good solid friendship.

It has been a strange experience coming back to Arx after such a long while away. I'm happy to have been able to visit Chevalle. It was bittersweet, but ultimately worth it to catch up with friends and family, collect some of my favourite keepsakes, and to talk with mum and dad and pay my respects. But I am back now, and I am ready to rebuild.

A prayer to Mangata, I submit to paper so I do not forget it:

"Goddess of air, Mangata, Goddess of water. The wellspring of life. She who sustains us. I come to your shrine and offer you a token of a creature who dwells within your sacred oceans. I place before your altar a creature of the sea, but ask of your creatures of air. What bird do you hold sacred? If I were to build you a shrine that housed your feathered creatures-- which bird would you hold dearest? What bird would most reflect you? The raven feathered Cormorant with their hooked peaks used to catch fish and short legs that let them swim? Or the white bodied albatross with their black wings and sharp beaks? Perhaps a rare Tern? Or a Gull? Or a razorbill? Or the similar Puffin?

Beloved goddess of water and air; of life and sustenance... What bird do you hold dear?"

It's like the master mason that lays brick after brick, sealing himself into a room and ignoring the voices of his journeymen warning him that he should stop. As he places the final brick, he is at least free of their fretting. It's obscene and sad to witness.

Sometimes, revenge lies in simply forcing ones way into a place and being cut down.

There is no shame in this. By thinking that you must complete the job you will run out of time. By considering things like how many men the enemy has, time piles up; in the end you will give up. No matter if the enemy has thousands of men, there is fulfillment in simply standing them off and being determined to cut them all down, starting from one end. You will finish the greater part of it.

The point is not satisfaction; the point is action.

Too rarely is action taken when justified. Too often action is forgotten in doubt and uncertainty. The truth is that nothing is ever certain and the lie is that certainty precedes action. The difference between vengeance and justice is whether one is looking forward or backward, and now more than ever do I cast an eye towards my future.

I am going to find and kill every last one of them -- not because I want to, but because I must.

The Fidelities of Change: Part 3.
The fidelity between Skald and Lagoma: There is no free will without the chance to do ill as well as do good. Change cannot happen in bonds of stasis and desires to break free. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Change calls attention to what remained constant, to look at the patterns that have a new way of expression despite things moving around it.

The fidelity between Death and Lagoma: To grow, to do and be, more. Life is where our souls grow, growing changes the shape of the world as our new lives change them. Live life fully and well, and when things look bad, find something to make you laugh a little even when the going gets tough.

The fidelity between Aion and Lagoma: The best part of tomorrow is you know it won’t quite be like today. We shape and change the world of tomorrow by our decisions we make today. Each day is unique, a million million possibilities of which your actions had an impact to that change. Don't waste that dream, dream of a better tomorrow and work for that tomorrow today.

The fidelity between the Thirteenth and Lagoma: Take every negative moment, every failing, every bad feeling and make it yield to a positive outcome. If avarice builds cities and despair builds heroes, then let us choose to change ourselves and our situation for the better. For us, and for all.

The Fidelities of Change: Part 2.
The fidelity between Jayus and Lagoma: There are so many possibilities, each one spinning a million more, all leading to different possibilities. Some may fall to sorrow, some may head towards good. Whatever we have experienced with our choices, hope is found that different people make different choices in the future. Hope of what might become.

The fidelity between Limerance and Lagoma: Obligations given and exchanged take incorporeal honour and transform it to physical with our actions and words. What was weaker separately can be brought together stronger.

The fidelity between Sentinel and Lagoma: Change never happens in isolation of accountability, all actions have consequences. Failing doesn't mean there isn't an opportunity to seek redemption and heal.

The fidelity between Gild and Lagoma: Hurt and pain exist in the world, but we can act in the present to make sure things don’t get as bad as they can.

The Fidelities of Change: Part 1.
There's been some terrible things that have happened in the recent past, I thought I’d write a little on the fidelities between the ideals of the gods and our lady of change so that it might maybe find a little spot in your heart when you do have an inclination to read this.

The fidelity between Mangata and Lagoma: Water sustains and purifies, much like fire. Without temperance, one can lose control of both water and fire, leading to terrible consequences. We seek not change for change’s sake, but to sustain and further the plans of the gods.

The fidelity between Petrichor and Lagoma: We are simply stewards of that which we have been given. Should we be faithful over the little we have, we may be given more. Change for good is hard work, the world can reap the bounty of our good work.

The fidelity between Vellichor and Lagoma: The past is written and cannot be changed, but it can spur us in the present to change the future.

The fidelity between Gloria and Lagoma: As we yearn for truth in a world beset by falsehoods and struggles, it’s in this present life we are challenged to pursue the ideals of the gods and live a life of honour to the end. It isn't easy, this life. It's a fight if we want to see a change for good.

It was an absolute joy to let loose, for a change - I've allowed myself to get too caught up in my routine, and forgotten to just sharding relax and drink far too much alcohol every now and again.

The pie in my hair, though. I could have done without the pie in my hair.

There will be vengeance.

Justice, revenge. I've sometimes struggled separating the two apart. But at the end of my own journey, I don't think the pursuit of either brought peace. Just more questions that will take a lifetime to answer and hands that are stained with blood.
