Relationship Note on Tila

My busy-body sister who has pushed me to finding a wife, to which I admit was one of her smartest decisions.

Games are played, and what may appear precipitous may well be little more than a feint.

I have arrived from Arx. It seems like we have all sorts of Igniseri family here which I am thankful to be surrounded by such good and familiar people. The trip here was shorter than I had expected.

Arx is..different than I thought it would be. It certainly is larger, with all of the people of the compact represented. So lively and so much to do. So many artisans, so much beauty, ingenuity. I look forward to seeking people out and delving into so many different new things. My mind reels at the realization of truly how much there is to do. I seem to arrive when there is a possible invasion coming from the east? Perhaps I could lend talents to a defense effort if the need may be, though my talent would lend heavier to repair than actual battle. Not being particular hardy of body not spirit I've never really swung a sword, a spear. I dont know if I could even string a bow properly. I wish I could do more to help and for all of my intellect I fear I would just be in the way of even the most common soldier. Still, I will do what I can to help the effort to protect woman and man.

An addition to my list of titles: Paper Admiral.

Truthful though, I am glad to be involved in such a worthy cause. People of the Lyceum, in particular, please seek me out if you would like to participate in adding your prayers to our fleet.

In honor of the Lady Aislin Ashford and Lord Killian Ashford, I will be teaching what I know...

Until I cannot stand anymore.

May the gods hear our efforts and may we come together to pool the resources we need, to try and keep the lights on for Lady Aislin... if not go out there and find her.

Well that was enormously fun!

There were so many attending I could barely see the race from my place with all the pastries. Marie outdid herself with the baking -- they were both delicious and deliciously satisfying to fling, apparently. The runners looked like they had fun, and some even earned new nicknames -- I'm looking at you, Princess BerryBum! All in all we raised over a hundred and thirty thousand silver for the Lower Burroughs! It fills my heart to see what we can do when we all come together.

Thank you to Duke Cristoph Laurent, for the inspiration and drive. Thank you to Lord Corban Telmar for your spirit and energy and positivity. An thank you to my most wonderful husband, Count Kael Keaton -- thank you for everything.

Relationship Note on Kael

To be clear, this is meant to be tongue in cheek you silly readers!

I do hope I did not put too much pressure on dear Kael to wed so soon upon his investiture. Hearing him so lovingly describe his competitors at the Armor Run last night, it leaves me to worry that perhaps he ought to have been left to woo and romp for a bit longer. I fear that I may have deprived the world of years worth of love sonnets, romantic poems, and the like. I suppose he shall have to heap them upon his wife instead! Better fortune for us that he is so dotingly fond of her.

Ah, good to be back home amongst my Valardin brethren.

Watched both a duel between two outstanding warriors, and after? a simple armored race between a few of my family members and others representing their fealties. Oh what a good time.

I wonder if there are any archery competitions about......

I've decided to reopen my shop, Seaborn Weaponry. I wasn't sure if it was the right choice to make, but the last two days have proved that it was. Almost immediately, I not only had requests for blades, but received help in cleaning the shop from the Lady Eshra. A mercenary, Atherton, has also helped to give my mind stimulation and inspiration for the work that lies ahead of me. The peaceful rhythm of the forge, I didn't even realize how much I missed it.

Dear Stranger Who Bothers Reading This,

Hi! You must have a lot of free time on your hands. That or for some weird reason you are a fan of what I write. Or maybe you like keeping up on current events? Well, let me fill you in. So the Rite to Gloria was a smashing success. In that people liked it. Not that I won. I lost. Joslyn is just too damn fast! I only got one strike on her, and she got a few good hits on me. I tried to dodge her long as I can but I couldn't manage it. I enjoyed it, I should probably do one again next year. Maybe put a bit more effort into it. I'm thinking I should do more events where people can fight, especially newer duelists show off their skills. Could I make that into a thing? An series of exhibition matchs? Or a tournament? Someone had suggested doing such and encouraging people to give money and prizes to their favorite fighters. Feel free to steal that idea, though I will try to do it some time soon myself.

The Champion of Your Heart,
Caspian

P.S. Should I wear a mask when I fight? I can't figure out if it would be stylish or silly. Will think this over.

I find the best policy is to love the man not the mantle.

Having said that, I try very hard not to fall in love with heroes very often. Sadly, they don't tend to live very long.

Six things, three days.

1. After long hours on the road, heaven is a hot bath, already ready and waiting.
2. Quitting is not an option.
3. Blood and grit makes some things better. Perplexing, why that might be.
4. Sincerity is a disarming thing.
5. I've forgotten what five is. That is SLOPPY of me, just shameful.
6. I feel at home and ease, which is just as odd as #3, and somehow relates to my thoughts there. Sometimes it takes a wrong to right things.

At least my thinking is settling into organized lines once again. Save forgotten number five. What was it?

So, it began as a joke. It became more serious.

I am proud to say that today we held the First Annual Valardin Armor Run in the Ward of Valardin. It was a joyous event, running in full plate and being pelted with pastries in the shape of weapons. I even managed to catch one in my mouth, making for an excellent snack for the remainder of the course. And it all was for charity.

We could not have done it without Duke Cristoph Laurent who served as gamemaster (and came in third!); Countess Reigna, who distributed the ammunition and collected donations; and Count Kael, who complimented me on my hair and eyes.

Thank you to all who came, ran, donated, and enjoyed!

Relationship Note on Mae

*A sketch of a skinny, dark haired woman dressed in just as dark clothing. Her head is tilted up and away from the viewer, her lips curved into a smile that is partially secretive and partially smug. Her amber-brown eyes are slightly turned toward the onlooker, giving the impression that the woman is looking over her shoulder at the viewer, and being just a little haughty about something.*

*A sketch of a pale, white shield. A slight wash of silvery-gray paint has been done over the front of it. It almost seems to glimmer.*

*A sketch of a dress in sweeping swaths of cloth, black and white with only a few touches of color. Clearly only partially finished. On the side of the page are little circles of colors that fade from bright red to a dark, dusky blue color.*

I have returned to Arx from my faith pilgrimage, carrying a few rather interesting objects and one for the harlequin Mae although I don't think she'll understand just what it is I'm gifting. As I walked through the Merchant Gate I thought how often do battling sides reflect each other in a warped way that which they desire to extinguish in the other.

I'm reminded too of His words: A fight between two brings joy to the unseen which observes in silence. Brothers and sisters who fight against one another will see their things taken by a stranger; avoid conflict where reasoning shows another way, lest we weaken ourselves and others to corruption.
