Well, after hearing that all my siblings have made their way back to Arx, I think it's high time I've joined them! Well, that's right! Mama sis is coming to town! I'll make sure you're all staying out of trouble, rapscallions!

I've missed you all terribly. Now that I'm here, we need a proper reunion! Let us gather everybody. Apollis, Astraea and Amarantha, and of course my little Echo. Let's make sure all of Arx knows we're here! For it has been too long. We're going to need a bigger cask.

Relationship Note on Donaldo

"Where do we draw the line between worth reading, and worth keeping private?"

If you have to ask the question, err on the side of privacy.

But where did you travel from? If there's a story there, don't keep it squirreled away in the Archives: share with the rest of us.

A word of advice to the discerning reader:

* Do NOT engage in any contests for which you are woefully unprepared, unless you are potentially bribed to do so (make sure you are bribed well). This includes but not is limited to: throwing darts; obstacle courses. Battles of wits are left at the reader's discretion. However, it should be noted that those who think themselves clever are usually the first to fall in such contests, and that you shouldn't bring a proverbial dagger to a swordfight.

More to come!

There's a lot of lightness in between the moments of concern for the storm ahead. I am also very conflicted with a very personal matter. Still, I've been training every day to prepare for the war. When it comes to our doorstep, I hope to be ready. I have no doubt that I must honor my being chosen to wield Allegiance, and that I must bring glory to House Mazetti.

home is where the heart is
did no one ever tell you so?
it's not the house you live in
but where your flowers grow.

In case I misplace it.

"Beyond the shore, beyond your sight,
that which lays hidden to stop encroaching night.

A goddess of wind, a goddess of sea,
an upcoming storm from a reflection now free.

A fire like the sun, a spark in the night,
Find the lost star, the sky's hidden light.

A place now forgotten, gone from memory.
Where shamans did walk, across the great sea.

Ancients of spirit that walked in the land,
Hear life being sacrificed, blood spilt on sand.

Rise up their anger, stop blood shed,
A shaman can help if they are but led."

Well I managed to do quite well in the first round of runs at the Gauntlet. The second round not so much. I'll give Princess Marian a good congratulations for a very impressive final run, it was quite a mark to beat!

Among all the coming storm and fury, I've continued on a smaller task - of completing preparations for the embassy construction. We've finalized a number of designs, and I hope to submit the last of them soon. Hopefully we'll all be left standing by the time we start building!

A busy and stressful week. It is good that Harlan is back, as the Ashfords are being called, like every house in the compact, to raise our armies in preparation for the coming attacks from the sea. I am out of my element in military meetings, but have set out to rally our people as best I can- I hope it will do some good.

More journaling.

They tell me it is good for us.

How do people focus enough to write more than one of these a month when they are not traveling?

What is there to write about that is worth sharing?

"Went to the inn today for my meals."

Where do we draw the line between worth reading, and worth keeping private?

I must thank my lovely young wife Ariel for permitting me time away from the home and the children to contemplate with the silent reflections.

I don't know how much of my week is really fit for recording here. Some thoughts are private thoughts with good purpose.

still, having been raised with a special place in my prayers for Gild, an having seen the truths that Tehom offers thanks to the influence of my wife, it is interesting to spend much time at the temple.

It teaches us thing about the Scholars as well, and certainly the severity of the punishment given must give us confidence that we can document our lives freely. Without it, how could we trust mere people not to betray our confidences?

For all of Arx, I would strongly recommend the following:

- One evening among family and friends
- One bowls of stew
- Two glasses of wine
- A walnut pastry
- Two brides to tease about their upcoming weddings
- A visit with an adorable toddler
- One corgi
- Absolutely no mentions of doom, or demons, or war

It does wonders for your constitution. And for your spirits.

I feel as though I had not been doing enough recently for my house and my countrymen and women. Not that I had been doing nothing, but it feels like there is more I could be doing. Next week I will take it upon myself to put more effort into this. Prehaps I can try to aid in rallying the banners.

The Riven table was merry tonight. Good food and good company and much talk of weddings and children and whether or not corgis can fly.

There will be much to be done in the coming days. Many dooms to fight. Nights like these remind me what I fight for, though, and I shall hold onto this as the muster begins.

With so many warriors in Arx, it seems that we forget words can cut just as deeply as blades -- and the wounds they leave behind do not heal so well, or so easily. It is a lesson I regret having to have learned myself.

Slowly but steadily, I'm getting somewhere. That is a relief, to be quite honest. And I hope I'll be able to show it in my work.

I'm grateful my clients are patient.

Captain's Log - 12/20/1007

I sailed into port three days back. Already been pulled into a war meeting and told I'd be advising on matters nautical. It's funny watching folks try to understand that Northerner can sail. Not only that, but we also have big, big mountains back home. Not a flat-lander. Not a land-dweller.

So far, I can say that Arx is a whole lot warmer. Considering those icy winds just started back home, it's a relief. Don't let anyone from the North fool you - just because we CAN survive the cold doesn't mean we like the winter up there. Admittedly I'd probaby melt living in Southport, but the point stands.

Now to find myself a new sword and something to do with some free time.
