Those that say love isn't selfish and hurtful, have never really loved. Sometimes you have to get through the ugly and the hurt to find those little gems of truth that make everything alright. And most the times, the only one that can really do that, is you. But once you do.. that gem is a gift like no other. Treasure it but don't horde it because it's that shared truth were you will find the reason to love.

I went to watch the Donkey Knights do battle with a dragon. I was in my cups a bit and to tell the truth I didn't understand half of what was going on at any time, but it was a proper show and I had some laughs and it's for a good cause, I was told.
It made me think maybe I should get a horse. I thought of getting a donkey while I still had a bit of brandy in me but I don't think that would be the same. I'm a knight so I should have a horse, some folk might say. The problem is I'm no good with the sort of weapons you would from horseback. Maybe I can use a lance and then jump off the horse and fight on foot. I can ride a horse and I figure I can hold a stick straight. Maybe I ought to see about joining the next joust if there's any.

Long journeys are definitely more pleasurable with a friend along to keep one company. The ride wasn't the most enjoyable I've ever been on, and some of the table and campside discussions were unsettling, but even so it was a pleasure to travel in your company. We shall have to do so again.

Relationship Note on Hana
I had hoped to have the opportunity to speak to Mistress Hana, after her work on correcting the balance of my sword. Time and events have conspired to keep me from doing so, thus far, but I shall retain the hope that I may express to her in person the pleasure I have at her efforts.
I can quite confidently say though that I have never held a more perfectly balanced and honed blade in my life, than the sword she returned to me.

Preparations continue, and I am as usual set with anxiety over the course of things. I did meet with a woman about how I could contribute some additional aid to the impending troubles - the usual medicinal plants and the like, which should perhaps distract me from worry along with whatever small good it does.

As so many of my weeks go, this one has seen some amazing highs, and some devastating lows.
I have heard, this week, the most heart-shattering sound in the cry of the broken hearted. It is a keening that will echo in my ears for a long time. And yet, that immense sorrow was followed by a smile, to see the beauty of a mother's love. It was a moment that really struck me. And yet, another moment that makes me treasure every single bit of time I have in this life.
And, I am fortunate to have much to treasure. I will not take that for granted.

It seems there are an influx of new Explorers coming into the Society. This is somewhat refreshing after I did a reorganization of the charts of some of our former Explorers, and sad at the same time. The others will be sorely missed, and while the new people will never take their place, they will help fill some of our gaps. I can't wait to see what grand and exciting things they suggest we consider for our next big adventure!
