But it’s so easy to be a dick. It’s hardly an accomplishment.

Instead I'll simply say that I'm sorry. I wish things were better.

It has been too many nights since I have seen my siblings, I shall seek to remedy that, I need their presence, and their counsel, much is changing and many decisions are being made which I feel they should be privy to...Not to mention I simply miss them, one of my greatest joys in returning to Arx has been seeing them.
Though between my training, drinking, charity work and Sorrel, my own time has been limited...I will figure out how to combine all of those things into one!

It has been much lately, continuing to drill with the fleet, continuing to have meeting after meeting to discuss the coming battle. I can say firmly, one way or another I look forward to some true peace for a while once this is all over.
Much less time spent drinking with friends, much more time spent planning for war! But, should we make it back, there is a silver lining in my future, though, that is a story for another day.

On the other? I find it vexing that when something like this is discussed it's nobles and commoners. Why not just let it rest on the person. If someone says or does something rude, put their name to it.
There are plenty of nobles and commoners who don't act in the way that most expect. Plenty have courtesy, respect and kindness to people, despite their station.
Those who don't, name them, and let them think about their misdeeds as a person, not their title.

By the way, if you don't like street vendor food? Perhaps you're the one who should go!

Also why she trots around with a hawk is beyond me. City pigeon may be a treat for your average street-sweeper, but I can't imagine the nobility takes much satisfaction from hunting such a poor meal. Hawks belong in the mews. Unless, of course, it was just for appearances, in which case, I fear for the safety of the Grayson army, being led by such an idiot commander.
Had a fried pastry drizzled in honey yesterday, piping hot from the stand run by an old man and his gap-toothed grandson.
Give me that and a pigeon pie and I'm a happy woman.
I don't belong here. Dammit, Ford.
Damn.

But I didn't know them. Not like others did.
So I just read the journals with reverence. They touched many lives, and did many good things.
Perhaps we can be inspired by that.

Now I'm sitting here, scribing my journal, and already I miss her again.

So I'll put that to one side, and wonder at the claim that it was necessary. That, setting aside rights and wrongs and gods, the Compact stands better than it would if things were otherwise, because of what Abbas Thrax did.
I don't doubt that some of them died, among the young and the old and the unlucky, would have been on the boats sailing at us now if they lived. I do doubt if, in a hundred years of thinking, anyone who reads these pages could think of a better way of driving the Abandoned into the arms of the enemy moving at us than what happened.
I wonder how many of them manning those fleets, who'll be killing men and women and children of the Compact before the end of spring, are kin to them killed by sickness, or allies, or just scared that they'll be the next who'll see their children made plague-crows. Folk who saw an awful wrong done, and decided they'd stand with one monster for the sake of justice on another. I wonder if it's a number bigger or smaller than was denied the the armies by setting out the plagues.
Don't reckon I'll ever know, but I wonder.
