I should probably remember to only read the whites when I am in a good mood. When already frustrated they do nothing to soothe that emotion and everything to make it worse.
I apologize for spending time in the past few days (when already frustrated) writing in my own journals with criticism or callousness towards others. I know better and am better.
I've such contempt for those who put their insults in their whites and not the blacks. For catharsis the blacks serve just as well, and for confrontation a direct missive or a meeting are less cowardly.
When I read people tossing insults at each other through this means I find my respect for them dwindling. I must be better else I've no leg to stand on and cannot be surprised should those flipping through my own journals find their respect for me dwindling.
Feel free to remind me of this, Arx, should you notice in pen and ink any slip in my decorum. Hold me accountable and you will have my gratitude.

Minor progress in learning to socialize. Find great success in keeping mouth closed, just listening. People off-put by speech pattern, can't drink to mitigate every time. Almost attended wedding, water too deep to step into just yet. Will. Someday. Many more weddings ahead to practice on.

I attended the Commoners' Council this week, more out of curiousity than obligation, with my official duties being to the higher body. Still, it was both a lively but also well organized meeting, and seemed productive in regard to dealing with issues in the less prosperous parts of the city. I left word with the organizers about future aid from the Whispers, to see how we might give back to the world that many of us came from.

Harlan held a dinner this week, inviting family, vassals and a few others, which turned out to be quite the pleasant gathering. It was small enough to feel intimate, and I was able to catch up with some people I don't see enough of. There was also some delightful talk of helping Lord Tomwell - Marquis Leary's brother - with some gardens at his home. Nevermind all the conspiring over he and the lady he is courting, who seems lovely.

Explorers have been asked to fill a library with our stories. I am no book writer, but I can do a little here in the archives even if is does not count for the Explorers.
I stayed the night ones in a farmhouse to escape the rain thanks to the generosity of some locals.
In the morning after eating, I offered to help mend some of the fences damaged by the storm while the hands were busy rounding up some horse who got out by jumping some of the low points in the broken fence.
I noticed that none of their diary cows had escaped, and wondered if they couldn't jump at all.
"They can." The farmer said, "Just not as well as the horses. Still, we need to mend these fences before they get any ideas."
Well we went along patching things up and would you guess that a young calf did get the idea and did decide to jump the fence. It was the most loving and affectionate animal on the farm, and responded very well to being rubbed and pet like you would a dog.
His mother, who was much larger, seemed to be inspired or jealous, I do not know which, but she came hustling to the same low point and jumped with all her might. To my great surprise her head cleared the fence, and her front hoofs after that but then...
Well, this is a long story and I am not a book writer, but suffice it to say that what happened next was a complete and udder disaster.

This will be my first war where I will not be directly involved. This will be a relief to some. And an unfortunate affair to others.
