I did take Griz out into the fields this week and advanced his training. He is getting ebtter overall at all skills and seems to get better at learning as he learns more. I have also heard a rumor there is a trainer in the city who can teach scouting skills to bird and I want to follow this up with Muninn. The bird has proven to be quite intelligent and I feel he would be able to catch on to that kind of training. SOme of it, anyway. Any would help...imagine a scout in the sky checking the road ahead.

I'm troubled.
One of the most serious individuals I know told me that I've become too serious.
How does one undo that?

I don't know why I made it. It's not as if I'm any good at swinging a sword and to partake in the joust was a lark. Partaking in what occurred for the past few weeks in the sanctum of Genesis seemed like it would be not quite right.

So I did what I do best. I made a sword. A small one, but I made Gloria's sigil for this woman. Maybe it will travel with her. Maybe it won't. A lot of my things travel. I wonder if some day I'll come across something I made in the wild.

She fights well. I'd take her at my back in my travels. I know that. Gloria... she'd nod I think.

I think.

I should have brought Toad so he could have said hello to her.

Relationship Note on Oskar

Received a message from my near-brother Oskar wondering how I have been. Eswynds (men mostly) express their emotions through battle so this message is from a genuine place. (Also its probably because most can't write too ) I cannot wait to get together and catch up! Being prodigal may get you looked down upon most of the time, but with family whos loyalty towards one another no know bounds, i would say is a hell of a lot more refined then any fancy noble. Although, I do like some aspects of their lives, but mine has afforded me the chance to travel and grow. Look at me I got off topic again.

Lade Whitehawk and I did a refreshing hike together not long ago, out in the Grey Forest. It was nice to be in the woods again, out of town and surrounded by wildlife. I am glad we went although it was touch to come back in a way. We will need to do it mroe often! We spoke of the possibility of doing a sea trip and that led to a talk about getting one of Arx's new sloops someday. Silly talk, but it might be nice to captain such a vessel, maybe set up a regular trade route. Or not...just thoughts.

Dame kyda finished her challenges today. I never got a chance to spar her again, though i would very much like to. she spoke of possibly sending letters out to those she fought to ask for help. it will be interesting to see who she contacts and who answers the call.

I have two perfume commissions, Scholar, and they couldn't be more different. They also couldn't be more.. hilarious, really. I never thought I'd be asked for these particular scents.

So...

Looks like there's an archery contest on the horizon. Will I sign up? Of course! Do I know how to shoot a bow? Barely! Shall I be victorious?

Obviously!

Time to start thinking about the next rhythm of the world festival.

I wonder if the Saffron Chain might have festival foods. And I'll need to decide if it should be on the beach again. Maybe we can even do some sort of scavenger hunt..

I'll need to start preparing soon if I want to craft a truly spectacular experience ..

With the number of trials placed before Laurent Honey, it should have been Knighted by now.

(The composer of this journal holds the values of Knighthood as taught in the Oathlands to the highest esteem and was just making a joke. She does not truly think Honey should be honoured with Knighthood).

I was reflecting on things tonight over a glass of good wine -- a quite moment after a wonderful but busy night -- when I happened upon a treasure in my collection. A song written by a very dear friend to celebrate the first year of the opening of my Hart.

It made me smile to think on her and her beautiful vision, and upon the many good souls who have warmed and filled my Hart over the years.

When I think back upon all that has happened here -- gatherings and events of all sizes; fundraisers for good causes; exciting tourneys and contests; casual meetings with friends; impromptu parties, sparring matches and midnight swims; moments of great solemnity and of great joy; and all the wonderful, unexpected meetings of chance -- I cannot help but smile. Stories started, friendships foraged. So many hearts touched and memories made and shared. It is rather remarkable.

I did not know on that happy day what would happen or where I would be now. And, to be true, I could not be any happier. I will never regret following my heart and this passion to support good causes, raise spirits and to create this meeting place for all.

Thank you, my dear friends, for sharing my Hart with me over these many years. It is because of you that The Golden Hart continues to thrive and to do good works still.

Here's to many more wonderful days and nights ahead. My Hart is very much yours, as is so often said.

[OOC: Included with this journal entry is a sheet of fine parchment with the follow rendered in an elegant and neat cursive hand:

Welcome to My Hart:
A song with a catchy, merry rhythm good for dancing or singing along.

The Golden Hart holds a social sway
Something for all, during night or day.
There's beautiful places for quiet repose
Or gambling and games that everyone knows.

It has an arena with exciting spars,
A variety of drinks in all of the bars,
And food if hungry, or food for thought,
The Golden Hart's charms can't be bought.

So come join in let us dance and sing
And see what delights the night will bring.
Leave cares behind, don't bring them here
In The Hart tonight we'll create good cheer.

The portly man and the spritely girl
Decide to give this dance a whirl.
With quick steps left, a kick to the right
They begin to enjoy a merry Hart night.

The dance is joined by a very tall man
And a saucy girl who holds his left hand.
Then the hostess dances by with a happy wink
In the arms of a guard whose armor does clink.

The colorful swirl of the dancing crowd
Suggests tonight there's no sadness allowed.
Joyful notes come from instruments we play
As patrons listen, dancers spun and sway.

Drinks are held aloft in elaborate toasts
Made of long stories, bragging and boasts.
Of the beautiful princess with a heart of gold
And her Golden Hart welcome to young and old.
