After a particularly revealing set of conversations, I've decided to seek out a patron. What do I do that can't be made better by the support of a noble?

I've also decided I'll start taking commissions soon. That means I need to start thinking about prices. How much will someone pay for a Mae Grayhope original? I think I'll ask for a LOT of silver. That way I don't actually get any commissions and don't actually have to work. And if someone is willing to pay? I'll be that much closer to opening a second soup kitchen.

Relationship Note on Sorrel

It was a pleasure to meet you, however briefly, and I hope that, if you need to further express your concerns, you might paint them out in a few days' time at the Shrine. Please see me, if you'd like, and I would be willing to provide any further assistance along these lines, I think.

I did a great many things today. Some of them make me happy, like obtaining a beautiful costume for the masquerade ball. Some of them make me sad, like removing my cousin Esra from the family for transgressions against the Faith, among others. We have high standards, and I can only pray that he can make restitution and find peace with the Faith. I hope others can help him see reason where I could not.

I watched a duel today. Over what I was told were 'dolls'.

I'm not really sure how else to really explain that further. I remember, back on the fleet, we'd rarely fight over something in particular. Usually, we'd gamble over it and let the dice decide who it belonged to. And sometimes, that item didn't always end up between one of the two people arguing over it.

The gambles were open to all, if they thought they wanted it bad enough. More often, I remember, many things could fall to a game of chance. Always been a big belief in the matter of luck. And when I consider that with the clan, I remind myself that we're luckier than I give us credit for.

Explanations strive to find weakness; from the exploitation of weakness comes compliance and the potential of absolute surrender.

Relationship Note on Eleyna

Generosity in such times deserve special consideration, but so does those following the precepts of Limerance and the Sentinel, and see agreements held no matter what. Her Grace showed these special traits, while her husband displayed his generosity.

I look forward to writing a fine song to showcase their qualities.

Attention: Everyone should look at Magpie's sharp little Pecker. It's very pretty, highly detailed, and looks like it can easily put out an eye. I'm super jealous.

ALSO. Victus hits like a tree-trunk. A very tall, axe-wielding tree-trunk.

Silent Reflections
Day 1 - 2/21/1008 AR.

Today marks the first of my pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Thirteenth, a period of inner reflection and prayer to the Gods. This place is so eerie, a bitter reminder of the importance in honoring the Gods in all of our deeds and words. To uphold the vows we have made in Limerance's name; To fight with honor as Gloria requires; and to ever grow as Lagoma directs us. Here, I sit in silent contemplation, musing over my mortal failings.

I haven't done a thing yet. Though, later, I'm told I'm supposed t'duel the High Lord Vic to defend the honor of Ribbons' figurine collection.

There are so many words in this world. Using words is simple. Finding the correct ones at the correct time, THAT is the tricky part.

Relationship Note on Mae

And lo the tyranny of old crones and their cruel, withered hearts!

Let not her youthful facade fool you, this one has seen veritable ages, and spent them all with the desire to crush hearts and souls of the innocent.

Scholars of the future, I beseech you. Never forget this most dreadful of villains.

Never forget Mae.

Sincerely,

An innocent victim

Dear future scholars,

Today my bratty little brother claimed to be someone. I'd like the official record to show that it's not true. He's still an itsy bitsy baby and nothing more!

Sincerely,

Relationship Note on Marian

Today has been a day to remember - for more than a few reasons. The Lady Marian is a force unto herself and I feel like we bonded over the trial that was the obstacle course. I may have caught a cold for that new friendship but I consider it well worth it.

Next time lets make it happen in the late spring, when it is warmer outside.

Relationship Note on Reigna

I am generally not one to write about my loved ones in the white journals although, one day, the depth of my affection shall be revealed when I finally pass and my blacks are made public. Perhaps this idiosyncrasy is a form of protectiveness. Regardless, I wish to express my tremendous gratitude and pride for the exceptional efforts of my dear cousin, Countess-Consort Reigna Keaton née Wyrmguard. She oversaw a grand rallying of healers of all kinds, including the Mercies who answered my call. (She even recruited the legendary alchemist Valery!)

May the Gods continue to bless my dear cousin and everyone else who assisted in this considerable collaboration of healers.
May the Gods continue to bless those healers who serve the cause.
May the Gods continue to bless any and all who shall fight for a better world.
