I know most of what I write in these is repetition, but that for me right now helps; craft arms, craft armor. Deliver and collect silvers. Then repeat the process. Though I did recently help one of the newer smiths with an understanding of how to craft red steel into weapons, so I hope that he does well for himself.

I am also glad to report that Mistress Lottie's cookies are a favorite of everyone that visit the shop. Note to self; get a restock soon.

Normally not one for paperwork, recent troubles have had me keeping a ledger of silvers spent and received. It also helps to serve as a reminder of who I have crafted for, and what I crafted. Maybe I should start keeping a design book, might help to show new customers too.

I can hardly wait for the painting event. I hope, in all sincerity, that it will not be necessary to douse someone with wine. At the same time, I admit that I would find it amusing and, likely, well-deserved. Hopefully duties will not interfere with my attending, especially as I have had a smock especially made for it! I am once again grateful that you joined us at the bonfire and let us all know about it.

When I became a sworn warrior of the Twainfort, as a girl of still not twenty years old, I was placed in the ranks of men and women born Rivens, folk slow to trust the new Greenwood prodigal swords and spears who'd joined their armies. We trained together and fought together, and in time we learned to be one in battle. We defended the borders of the Riven lands together from hostile tribes and bandits, and fought in the ranks of the Compact forces when the Silent Army came to the gates of Arx not two years gone.

As the Countess and Chief Thesarin call the banners for war again, I see many new peoples who were not even with us a year gone by. Our ranks have grown with the 10,000 that bent the knee to Countess Mia from the Gray Forest, and those former thralls from the Isles who sought a better life with Riven after they were freed. Now, I am part of the effort to integrate these new troops into our ranks. Some unblooded, some still unproven. They have answered the Countess' call to arms, though, which shows their loyalty well enough for me. My own work shall be to make certain they are properly trained and equipped to meet the enemy, and that we who are veterans watch their backs in the clash to come.

I am proud of how we've rallied and proud to be a knight that wears the herons of my adopted people, even if the faces I shall fight beside are new ones. Ki in honor.

The beautiful Lady Inverno. The voice of her house and a strong woman. She knows what she wants in this world and knows how to get it. Such demeanor and determination often comes attraction and charm.

I disagree. To criticize someone's work is to help them propel their craft to the next level of excellence. An artist who does not hear an evaluation of their work will be stunted in development of their talent.

To truly be excellent, one must first have faced honest criticism. Otherwise, how will they improve?

Now, criticism has a time and place, and a manner and style. Offered outside of these four categories, it's unkind and probably inappropriate.

Sing! Reality
Is only what we
Believe it can be!

Love! The world is full
Of sadness and dull
Moments that just lull.
Love is a fierce fire
That burning, grows higher
When it inspires.
Love is splendor.
Love opens doors.
Love is something more.
Love is gentleness
Soothing calm to bless
Those it might address.
Love is a fine balm.
Love is a sweet song.
Love is never wrong.

I recently saw that my sister sought a patron. Now I'm usually not the type to do so, my sister being... my sister, but even I, with a sibling's stubbornness, must admit that she does good work.

Artwork, specifically. I'm sure she's awful at everything else, but painting is clearly not one of those things. Really, I'm quite proud of her.

If this is meant for the blacks? What do you think? Of /course/ I want this publicly displayed for all, especially her, to see. What kind of brother would I be if I didn't compliment her openly every now and then?

((Scholar Hartur is not very good at detecting sarcasm.))

The truly great are so called not by their own words, but by the ones of others. If you were to do it yourself, you'd only look childish. "Look at me, look at me! I'm so great, you should pay attention to me! LOOK AT HOW GREAT I AM!"

Of course, if you are convinced of your greatness and see it unacknowledged by the greater world... Scholar, which God or Goddess is it that encourages humility? It is one of the virtues, right?

To all citizens of Arx:

I hope everyone will come to the painting event at the Shrine of Jayus soon! We are working hard to make it a lovely time for all, and have all manner of colors with which you might share your feelings and passions on canvas. If you need paint and canvas, it will be provided. If you would like to bring your own, please feel free to. If you would like to share some art you've already made -- painting, sculpture, drawings, dance, music -- please feel more than welcome to come and share.

We will have musicians there to provide some respite for the event, but I've already asked them not to play too loudly. After all, nobody likes having their expression of creativity drowned out by another's expression. Wine will also be provided. Please don't wear your best clothes or anything else you don't want to stain! You are liable to get paint on such things, and the Shrine cannot refund any costs for laundering those clothes. (That was a joke. I hope it worked!)

Anyone who comes looking to critique another's work will have wine dumped on their heads, as I have already expressed to several people. Jayus may call to some people more than others to express themselves in craft, but he calls to all in different ways, and to critique another's work is simply to stifle any potential creativity. It is a disservice to Jayus, and will be most unwelcome at this event.

Given her long years of faithful service to Archduke-Consort Talen Velenosa, Sybilla the courtier has been promoted to lady's maid under my employment. The focus of her duties will shift to taking care of the small duties and responsibilities required of an Archduchess' lady's maid.

To this end, Jiacomo, as Velenosa seneschal having served the family in various roles for as long as I've been alive, now works directly for Archduke Talen. He is a talented hand at making unruly royals behave in a much more dignified manner. It's just usually children that he provides such a service to, of course.
