It was a wonderful wedding.

I credit much of the preparations of the event itself to my iconic sister-in-law, the Pearl of the Isles, for without her, I am certain I would have floundered and drowned under all the details I should be considering. Also the fine craftsmanship of Guildmaster Caprice Artiglio, with her expert needlework and keen eye, whose guidance and artistic sense have most definitely prevented me from whatever sartorial embarrassment I would have chosen for myself if left to my own devices.

I am also grateful to the guests who have attended, for taking the time to celebrate with us and share in our happiness, and all of the kind words, gifts and well-wishes we received. I have offered my prayers to both Limerance and Gild in hopes that all of your generosity and sincerity would be blessed in ways both great and small. You have all made the day so memorable, and seeing your smiles during it means the world to me.

And to the ladies of the Black Tide - you know who you are - I look forward to the next excursion. I will never forget what you have sprung on me the eve before, and it will forever be relegated to a special place in my heart.

Relationship Note on Raven

Hm.
If I had feelings, I would be put out for being left out.
What about all I did for you?
Like staying away. Not messaging. Not caring?

Again, all I can say is, you're welcome.

Relationship Note on Michael

Your face hurt my fist.

Also the bet I lost to you for 20k hurt a bit too.

You should really apologize for all of this.

I've decided that since it's autumn and we've been doing this courting thing for about a year now

I tolerate you this season too.

More daggers needed.

Griffins are good.
Black are good.
Pointy are good.
I suppose something Velenosa is tolerable.

Still more daggers. I went to your shop. I looked at your things.

Did I mention more daggers?

I have been forced to reflect upon the sheer number of suspicious disappearances, deaths and outright murders of many of my family and friends, and confess to a sudden alarm. If I knew no better, I would wonder if we were under some sort of curse.

I also begin to understand why it is we Mazetti abstained from Arx for so many, many years, and why my uncle was so adamantly opposed to my decision to come here in the first place.

Maybe it isn't us. Maybe it's Arx.

I write as one grieved.

It never ceases to amuse me with how many eyes I can get from one simple dance. One would think that the citizens of this city haven't seen a proper dance before.

I find your hubris, your wasteful excess, and your empty displays galling.

What separates you and I, save your high walls, your brittle pride, and the blood you chanced into wielding from birth?

Imagine what might be accomplished in a world without you.

Nobles, especially those new to the Compact, should see the Whisper House when it comes to finding patrons or protegees. Their networks are vast and diverse.

Well. It took a goodly while, and a fair amount of money and favours, but Whisper House has been rebuilt. The efforts put in by the labourers and architects, the aid from carpenters and glass-blowers. The offers and gestures made by peerage and commoners alike - I am grateful.

The room is not a replica of what was, though we strove to maintain tradition. We also carry reminders, in several ways. And I hope that people will return once more to the House Whisper, and partake of our hospitality.

We have missed you.

The Frog King, a Story for Children

There once was a frog, king of his pond
Who turned out to be exceeding fond
Of croaking out at little fish
Who didn't do just as he wished

You'd think such minutiae beneath him
And though others found his logic thin
The frog could not resist the urge
To berate the fish as quite a scourge

'Scales and fins, loathsome, grotesque!
Only frog-lords know what's best!
Stay in your place, you worthless fish
Be glad you're allowed to exist!'

Such vitriol slowly accreting
And one by one the fish stopped heeding
Until at last upon his throne
The frog king sat unheard, alone

All the fish continued business
And left him without further witness
The fate of the frog who blustered and scared --
Turns out nobody really cared.

Ribbit, ribbit.

The shop is well stocked. Well, if you consider fancy hairpins and basic armor as well stocked I guess. It makes me feel accomplished and took my mind off other stuff for a bit. I try to never underestimate the power of busy, creative work.

My mother has a plethora of sayings, I suppose you could say. Words of advice that are almost a lesson. One of my favorites, which I have come to learn the hard way more often than I like to admit, is: Someone's actions should - and generally will - speak far more about them than their words ever will.
