Relationship Note on Dominique

She is witty and fun too bad she is noble and I'm just a lowly pirate. But friendship has found bloom in weird spots and might it shall here.

At the suggestion of Prince Barric, I have decided to extend an invitation to both the King's Own and the Iron Guard for a seat at the Military Assembly table. One representative each is they decide to join. My thoughts on this originally were to look beyond the needs of the city. The Iron Guard does a wonderful job here as is. I am reassured that they are properly supplied and trained for an attack against the city itself. But the more I thought about it the more I feel it necessary for all branches of the compact's militaries that protect us to be in unison. And with such a call to the city of Arx it only makes sense that they be involved as well.

There has been talk of exclusion and a social backlash for my decision to make this meeting private and limited to two from each Kingdom or Region. And quite frankly, I don't care if that makes me unpopular. No real conversation can be had with a crowded room and this is a conversation of the utmost importance. I will do my best to see that order is maintained and that an understanding can be reached. I expect nothing less from the intelligent respectable individuals who will be in attendance.

One of the most dangerous things on the open sea is the squall. If you aren’t a skilled Captain, it can be deadly. At best, the squall can drive you off course. At worst, it can lead to your ship resting at the bottom of the sea. I have always prided myself on being skillful enough to travel the shipping lanes and avoid the squalls.

I did not see you coming. Once, I would have steered myself out of your path the minute that your wind threatened to fill my sails. Yet, here I am, caught in the storm.

Hoping I don’t capsize.

Relationship Note on Aureth

*Mistress Ianthe sits, laughing, for several minutes. She tries to speak several times, but can only giggle*

For the rest of my days, I will never forget the look on Aureth’s face when that girl said she was his kid. In other news, I need to scrape together the silver to commission a ‘world’s best grandmother’ necklace for Myrinda.

The public drinking was rather well received. It was not about title or properness. It was just free drink. We played a game of Never and I had them spin to put ribbons on a target after a shot of rotgut. I feel a little bad for Lord Pietro though. Perhaps he should not drink the shots. Then we played shots.

It came down to two Redrains (of course) and a Malvici. Freja won with the 6,000 silver price. I think it was a needed break from all that has been happening. I was glad to hear the laughter.

Freja and I came together to host an event which honoured the heroes of Redrain legend. Our competitors were tested not only in martial skills, but social as well. It was no surprise that Lady Dawn took the oratory challenge, but I don't think anybody saw it coming when Hammar won one round of the competition with his charm alone.

It was Count Maximilian that ultimately took home the prize, though it came down to a tie-breaker in the end.

With the blessing of Princess Donella the Mercier household as built a warehouse inside the Thrax ward, the Crimson Square. We used Deepwood wood for this endeavor.

Relationship Note on Dawn

The time draws near to the Assembly, where the unrest and unease of our Compact will be laid to rest by the Great Lords in electing a Regent to lead.

So the time has come for me to publicly say, that there can be none to fill this roll except the Lady Dawn. Only she truly knows how to unite as a people, in a way that no other truly could.

My support stands fully behind the Lady Dawn Grayson.

Recent journey's have tested me. The things that are of this world are not all frilly and lace. There are things that make the most seasoned killer tremble. And at times I wonder if madness is not more appealing.

Relationship Note on Dominique

I finally got the chance to meet with Marquessa Dominique after she arrived in the city of Arx a short time ago. I am fairly certain the last time I had seen here we were both serving as squires. I certainly had not seen her since before the Tragedy of Sanctum. I wanted to tell her how much her father's sacrifice meant to our family and how many he saved. I could tell talking about it was tearing open an old wound and I feel terrible about that, but I also think it was important for hear to hear it from me. She has her father's eyes and I can see his determination in her. In a way it is as if he is still with us through her and through her brother Lord Damon.

Relationship Note on Hana

So when a man swears you're his first, that he's 'never done this before, honest' and then proceeds to-

Well.

Revenge is sweet, and couldn't come in a more delightful form.

Welcome to our crazy family, Hana. It's a joy to have you and it's only been an hour.

Relationship Note on Leola

I had the pleasure of meeting Leola just the other day on her arrival to Arx. She is a trainer of beasts from the Saikland Greens, and from a well-respected family of similarly skilled trainers, as I recall. Though I think she is far more comfortable in the open meadows, and sprawling wilderness then she is on the city streets; she will find her feet quickly enough. I look forward to seeing her confidence grow, and to see the results of her hard work with Lord Eos’ next warhorse; though I suspect she will have many commissions beyond that before too long. She reminds me of home when home was a happy thing to remember, and I have not been homesick in such a very, very long time.

Relationship Note on Cicero

Silken prince. Seemingly focused upon the Lycene silk trade, he is willing to be publicly seen to be of unusually open mind: not merely dealing with someone such as myself who is 'tainted' by association with Prodigals, but willing to directly employ them himself. I have to say that I approve, and hope that we can indeed work to ensure that Velenosa's vassals are as strong as possible.

Friend.

I find it hard to trust anyone who would call another friend after a few drinks, a few words, a few fucking commonalities. It becomes just another word, deprived of meaning. And it should mean something. With friendship comes obligation.

Really, its a fucking burden.

Which is why I hardly bother with it.

Relationship Note on Eos

Lord Eos has constantly impressed me with his keen mind for military matters. I have yet to spar with him, but that is something that will be resolved soon, I'm sure. But the conversations we've shared have revealed a lot about the man, and I must encourage him to develop those things I've seen in him that I like.

Relationship Note on Everard

Now, the Merciers have always been the authority in weddings. In Arx they are coordinated with the harvest of our grapes and production of wines. While I usually try to keep away from this business of arranging marriages, I can not help but think of who would be our King should Lady Dawn receive her Regency. There is one choice that automatically comes to mind and that is the Iron Guard Commander, Lord Everard Telmar. There is no man more qualify for that position than him. He is strict, he is loyal, he is a practiced soldier and has proven time and time again to have the interest of the people's safety in mind. King Everard has a ring to it.

Joscelin won the guildmaster title of the crafter's guild. I feel confident in that we are finally heading into the right direction so much in fact that even motions to put a working regency on the throne are coming around. The people are winning. I love my King and I know that if he had a voice he would agree that we need to move forward, mend the wounds of paranoia and come together as multiple peoples to ensure the free soceity. I was promoted to the role that is best described as Voice of the guild and I could not feel more proud of my station. I can now finally use my experiences and skills to ensure that the commoner class will be taken cared of.

I am officially out of the Hundred Cities and properly within Malvici Hall. Now, I am quite pleased for the move, though there is still some construction going on, and I'll have a severe need for decoration only all too soon. I do, however, miss meals prepared as I ask for them, or wine brought to my room when I request it. I, gods, I even miss Cook.

My morning jog happened to take me past the Hundred Cities, and I saw him standing outside, having a smoke. His eyes were sad. On my way back, I decided to stop in, and asked him to make me porridge.

I learned a valuable lesson: sentiment can only be stretched so far. Making people happy brought me a certain kind of joy, but I sure as the day is long don't care to make a fucker happy at my own choking expense.

I'm also the Sword of Southport, now.

Relationship Note on Donella

Late one night just this week past, I remembered how lovely it was to bring a smile to someone's face through but a simple gesture. So I sent a gift to the Voice of Thrax - the reasons being my own. I've never had much of a chance to interact with her heavily, though I have seen and spoken to her several times. She strikes me as a strong and level-headed woman.

Yet sometimes it is good to just be a person, and not a title.

So I sent her a gift.
