Neither by Chance or Fate - those are our words. We take them seriously. We leave nothing up to dumb luck but make sure things go the way we want them to go. We don't 'get' lucky. We plan, we prepare, we execute.
Someone has made a grave error in making an enemy of us. Oh don't get me wrong, we have a lot of enemies, and we will make sure that whomever is behind this regrets their decision. Already, we plan. I can't wait to get to the execution part.
In other topics, the fact that the Lyceum and the Compact as a whole are supportive of us is reassuring. They have seen Duchess Calypso's leadership and the organization structure we present. That this would suddenly vanish overnight is seen for what it is; a blatant attempt to eat away at our support base. Too blatant.
Malvici is glad to have served the Compact and in return, glad it stands by us.
Did I mention I want to get to the execution phase? Yeah.

I don't like traveling, but at least this time it was safe...
I'm sad that the flowers aren't growing so well everywhere. But at least they are growing and the salves are as amazing as Mistress Maeve said.
Once they are settled enough in the Lodge, we should try to grow some in the Stone Grove too.

I think sometimes we forget the difference between riches and between wealth. Silver coin are riches. Gold candlestick's with lots of fancy gems in them are riches. Your wealth is so much more.
Your wealth is your family that loves you, your allies and friends that stand by you, your land that provides for you as long as you protect it and steward it well. Your wealth is your vassals that will stand with you as long as you protect them and lead them. It is the arts that you patron and the knowledge you preserve.
Someone thought they where very clever by stealing the riches of the Malvici, but they can take all the riches they want and they cannot steal any of the wealth of Southport. I feel like all someone has done is gone and put themselves at the center of focus of some of the brightest and most capable minds in all of the compact. Good luck with that.

Velenosa does know how to throw a proper party, and their new ship is very pretty too. I might not be the biggest fan as my preferential vessel is one that stacks a lot more manpower and weaponry, but the Carlotta clearly ain't a ship that's meant to go headlong into the fray. Discovery beyond the waves is something I'll leave in the hands of the intellectuals and the ones with wanderlust. My place has been, always will be, at the helm to driving our enemies back.
Not to mention, that lovely 'crunch' when a Dromond smacks straight into a an oncoming ship is the kind of satisfaction you only get to hear a few times a year, if that. There's nothing quite like it when you really get down to it.

Relationship Note on Calypso
I have known the Duchess since the very first meeting of military minds was called in Arx, after my appointment as a Voice for my brother. And from that first meeting, I have always felt certain of her capability as a General and a Leader. We became fast friends, and someone I trust implicitly, which is a difficult thing to earn. To this day, she has proved time and again that she is worthy of that trust and confidence in her leadership skills. Through both her appointment as the Minister of Defense, and her ascension to Duchess of Southport.
I know, without doubt, that she will be able to lead her people through this troubled time, and both Southport and House Malvici will come out stronger for it. She has my full and complete faith and confidence, as well as any help I am able to give her. Both personally, and as a Voice for House Valardin.

Artshall finds itself in the interesting situation of being one of the Oathlands more southern duchies, we border the lands of the Lycene and have some close ties to several of its larger houses, including smaller ones of less note. While we've (yet!) to marry one of our kin into House Malvici, Southport has long been an ally of House Laurent and I don't forsee a time where that will be changing in the immediate or further future. We stand by our neighbors to the south. Southport has long held the mouth to the river where my family's merchant ships have needed to pass. They've been safe in their waters, as have any traders that needed to come up the Lycene split to Artshall. I look forward to continued years of that and have no doubt that they'll triumph over this unfortunate set of circumstances.
