It's time such as these that I find myself oft caught in reflection of my time spent here. Though it was some months ago that I'd arrived to Arx, I must say that I've never had a more eye-opening slew of experiences in all my life. From generosity to debauchery, from time spent whittling away the minutes in the company of friends to being back-to-back against this continent's greatest foes. Danger and merriment go hand in hand living the life of a soldier, but being a grunt is not so bad really.

I give thanks for the good fortune of finding work with my Patron, for the Knights of Solace and their welcoming arms, and especially to all those who have made my stay in this city so much more wholesome. Without good company I fear as though it would feel all this work would be for naught. We always move one foot forward. Never too fast, not too slow!

I spent the day with my mother and my older sister. I knew I was going to regret this because they are so ultra feminine and it is their sole mission in life to make me look as girly as possible. It took my mother, Carys, years to accept the fact that I was not into the things my other sisters were into or even the things she was into. She would fight with me because I wanted to work with my father in the 'stinky' forge rather than in the bakery with her. She even tried to convince me that she and my father do the same thing. "There's fire in the oven, too, you know!" she'd bark at me.

To appease her, I would spend time with her in the kitchen and I've come to realize that I've picked up quite a few things from her that have come in handy lately. It's always interesting to talk to clients about how to keep them well protected and then what cakes pair with what liquors or wine.

Since I've been taking it easy lately and letting the apprentices take over most of the work in the forge, I've been helping my mother around her own shop with some light cleaning and prep work. I now smell like cakes and fire.

My older sister is an apothecary and a healer. She loves flowers. She's the epitome of elegance and grace, at least she is to me. Needless to say, today I left my family house smelling of cakes and fire and dripping in braids and flowers. What has happened to me?!

Relationship Note on Reese

Sometimes I wonder how she juggles all the things she does and still manages to put up with me. I got the far, far better end of the bargain I think.

Seems different from the rest of the in-laws, in that she does not terrify me AND is pleasant to be around.

By the time they're old enough to try and chase me down, my lungpower will have grown so much that I'll be a legend in our time. No one alive will be able to catch me.

Relationship Note on Cristoph

I do not profess to know how tall my sister's children will be when grown. All I can tell you is this. You better keep working on your lung's Duke, because when they are grown you will be slowing down and they might be able to catch even you when you tease their mother about her height.

A sketch.

The great statue of Mangata, done entirely in grays and whites. The darkest gray represents the stain on the base, a damp blotch. But this darkness is nearly overwhelmed by the luminescence of the rest of the piece. The lines of detail, robe and face, hair and feathered cloak, are rendered in the faintest visible lines, as if the sculpture were made of light.

Relationship Note on Kael

These last few days have been magical. My first wedding anniversary has just passed, and my husband made it so very special. He is so tolerant of my foibles, and he even let me drag him out of bed before dawn so that he could pray with me outside as the sun rose.

This last year has been more amazing than I could possibly explain.

My husband gave me the most incredible anniversary.

I should see if he wishes to pray with me again.

Last night we celebrated the first year of opening our Hart with grand event and the opening of our Starlight terrace and roof gardens.

It was a was a wonderful night and I couldn't be more pleased or happy to see so many beautiful and fond faces there to help us celebrate. The company was splendid and Lady Lucita's performance was inspired and so very perfect. It was a perfect way to mark the occasion.

I cannot believe it has been a year since we opened our Hart to the city. We come so far since our first event, I must say. It has been a remarkable journey for me, one that was not always easy. As always, so much good, some bad -- but I will never regret starting on this path.

I know I say this often, but in truth I do not think it can be said enough. I am grateful to the good people who make this place so wonderful. Those that fill our Hart with good cheer and excellent company. Those who work so hard to make everyone feel welcome and well cared for. Those who support our good causes and good works through donations and deeds. I cannot say enough how much it means to see what a difference we make when we come together.

Thank you with all my heart to everyone for making the Hart what it is today and what it will be tomorrow. I am so proud of what has been accomplished so fair and cannot wait to see where it leads us next.

With light, luck and love... as always.

To walk and work along side of the Silent Reflections for a week has been a difficult challenge, but one I am glad that the Scholars gave me the task to it. It feels as if you are watching the world from a window that no one can see within. And almost as if that time passes all the more slow. It is indeed a learning experience and one I shall never forget.

I keep forgetting to write this down. Mason managed to surprise me by inviting me to another mission in the north. He hates the cold. Will make sure to pack extra blankets and coats for him.

It seems as though this is the time for anniversaries.

I had a most pleasant time at the anniversary celebration of the Golden Hart with my wife, and we wish the Golden Hart and her Highness all that is well in the world. The party was a wonderful thing, from the sights to the music and atmosphere in general.

This is also the anniversary of my coming to Arx. It marks the start of the journey of where I truly began to learn what it meant to be nobility, given the inspirational people that I met soon after my arrival. It is here that I earnestly began to embrace this new life set before me.

Last, and most certainly not least, is that this is the time of my wedding anniversary. Happy anniversary, beloved. May there be many more happy ones to come.

People are peculiar. I find them less annoying than I use too. I am still not a fan of people, though. I just like them better. At least when they are not annoying me.

Relationship Note on Driskell

Darling readers!

Two days in a row now I have had holy men visit the cottage and I have been VERY good and proper. Now today it was Brother Driskell, who is not the silver fox that the Holy Father of Concepts is but would be handsome still if he would JUST SMILE A LITTLE more!

I have determined that we shall make Brother Driskell much happier of a man, so darling readers if you happen to see the Brother PLEASE say something kindly to him. If you do you will have my thanks and gratitude.

Splendiferiously,
Lady Tessa Moore

What perfect timing. I am finally starting to feel more myself again and a clearly someone wants to make themselves a target of my family. I would feel pity for them, but pity is wasted in this instance I think.

In happier news, my apothecaries from the Guild who went with Maeve reported they were able to safely transport the flowers back to Arx and get them to grow (albeit slowly) in the Lodge. The salve made from them is reportedly very useful, so I can only hope those little leafy buggers do well. Something something special fertilizer...
