Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Using my newfound knowledge ( thank you, Corban ) -- I have started to take it upon myself to begin my own translation work. Starting from an entirely different angle than my cousin has.

In the Archives, I have discovered a disorganized stack of papers that seem to compile a series of folktales, poems, and songs from a Shav'arvani tribe. I remain uncertain as to which tribe -- and when -- but I can recognize the language in which they were written. This has given me a rare opportunity to not only improve my language study, but, to refine my skills in bookbinding. I will transcribe the words faithfully and will do my best to protect the integrity of the original illustrations.

These papers seem to mainly consist of traditional narratives that include proverbs, lyrics, and stories that belonged to this social group. It's interesting to me that these also seem to embody their cultural values -- hopes, dreams, aspirations, myths -- transmitted through word of mouth and preserved. Now, on fresh pages instead of aged and crumbling parchment.

Easy to remember and share, it's a careful honor to be a part of history that can be charted and saved for subsequent examinations. To allow others to see the similarities among the stories of Arvum's various cultures.

Relationship Note on Arn

I received a missive today that Duke Arn is bound for the Telmarch to attend to business there. After all, we here in the Capital should hardly be the only ones to benefit from his scowls of disapproval. I do not know how long he will be away, but while he is, Lord Ansel and I will manage Telmar's affairs in Arx.

Uncle, we will never see eye-to-eye on many things and our relationship is not the easiest. But I wish you safe roads and speedy travels to the Great Red Wall that we both love so dear.

There is nothing so incredibly rewarding as when you have that first sip of Honey whiskey in the morning. Even if You aren't a morning drinker, you can get yourself equally Rewarded in the afternoon. Eventually the sips blur together and meld over your tongue like the ever-washing waves upon the a beach shore, but as the tide comes in upon the sea, and the sand is gradually wiped clean? Much the same.

Exactly why is this sailor here at the archives, rambling like some Mediocre poet or wannabe writer? Basically, he's drunk, high, and perhaps trying to sober up before facing the rest of the day.

Ever see a Really vague journal a person has written where there's no context and can't help but wonder what the fucking point of it was? you know you have. i ... don't really know where i was going with this... at all.. i need a nap.

Speech dictated at the dedication of the Carlotta

"Mangata is more than the sea. She is more than the wind. She is more than rain. She is an essence of life. We cannot live without the rain to bless Petrichor’s lands. We cannot live without water to drink. We praise and bless her for her generous gifts and sing songs in her honor, letting the wind carry our words to her."

"Today we come to christen a new ship; a celebration of our minds to bring it to life and our bodies to bring it into being. Soon this magnificent vessel will sail Our Lady’s seas and become what it was meant to be, as all things strive to find their place and purpose. May all her waters be calm and her winds fair. May all her journeys be to swift, safe, and may she ever return whole to port. May Mangata ever smile upon the Carlotta and keep her in favor."

Jaenelle my dear, I am in public often enough. They just don't notice me because I look like the rest of the Hundred since we wear matching armor. And all sheaths look alike, so unless they're going to force me to draw my sword they may not notice the finer points of difference.

And of course, forcing me to draw my sword when I'm in armor as one of the Hundred while doing my job by guarding the King is a quick way to death as a traitor, no?

I thought everyone knew Leona and I were twins? Please Leona, go in public more or the King will change the locks to the tower.

I was very proud to attend the ceremonial launching of the Carlotta today. The Lyceum's effort in bringing this naval technology to the Compact is deserving of every plaudit and appreciation they receive. I am tasking the Ministry of War to see about spreading these designs and knowledge across every House and working with all the navies of the Compact to refine and develop these ships further. Our great alliance should see the benefits in improved trade and security from these new Lenosia-class caravels in the coming years.

The afterparty in the map room was rather enjoyable, too.

Ah, emerging after a painting retreat.

I never get anything done. This should surprise no one. It's studies and discarded sketches, dragons and foxes, trees and fires, banal, really.

The purpose is to clean the canvas. Metaphorically speaking. Blanken the mind. Enough to come out refreshed.

Enough to come out missing everything and everyone that you take for granted.

The dedication was well attended, including the king and a few high lords. A fitting crowd for an exceptional ship named for an exceptional woman. I'm sure Carlotta would rather be here - I know I'd rather she were here - but I think she'd approve of this tribute.

The cutest little blond, with big brown eyes. I am so very much in love-- I just wish he would stop chewing the dining table legs. Or the couch cushions.

He is still the most loving little puppy in the world. I adore him.

I have spent my life staring into the mirror of the ocean, watching my reflection and waiting for a monster to look back at me.

Since my first days in Arx city, I stared at the statue of Koraj Marin, seeking inspiration. I sought truth, as the Sentinel wills, but the Thirteenth shows us two truths. If I knew that underneath the stony facade lay a lie, a traitor, would I still derive inspiration?

He fell striking out at the dark of the world, and has spent a millennia chained, with only the abyssal for company.

It on many days feels as if I wish for nothing more than to rend at everything the World holds black...

...and to have the darkness strike me back.

This lord of the Telmarch is capable. Impressive.

I've not been brought so close to my knees by a single human for a long time. I was tested, to the point of exhaustion, to my very limits.

I'm going to endeavor to break them - I have not done enough.

I had heard it talked about, but I feel like I understand now what people mean when they say that it's easy to lose sight of your home when spending so much time in Arx. My recent trip back to Westrock Reach was a bit eye-opening. Thankfully that's settled.

I may have partied a little hard last night. Apparently I, in front of his wife no less, rode Count Keaton. Specifically rode him "hard, furiously, and victoriously." As a result, he in turn made sure I was able to make sure my shaft thrust true... Thrust true and deep... Thrust true, deep, and accurately. So onward, to victory upon such a strong hairy noble steed. Unfortunately I spurred him too hard causing him shortage of breath. Unfortunately, there are too many witnesses to eliminate, setting aside the fact that many of them are dear to me.

Once more, Happy Birthday Lady Khanne Halfshav! It was a pleasure to be of service and keep you entertained.

This has been a good week. Have had excellent times and company, and was able to horrify my Niece and her Husband. I think I'm feeling.. smug. I think the word is smug.
