The diamond dalliance is my favorite party game. I'm excited to attend it this year! It can be so scandalous!

Song of the Lost Admiral

Many hundred ships did clash
In the waters off Long Strand
Where Grimkin fleet's hopes were dashed
And Whitefrost taken in hand.

In that doomed fleet, there he stood:
Bereft of Goddess's grace.
Heart of stone, head of wood,
With wits dull as his mace.

"Wretches! Dogs! Filth!" he cried,
"This bay shall be your grave!"
So he spoke on the day he died;
As foe prevailed, on he raved.

"All your names will be forgot!"
Quoth he, with more words much the same.
But for such, the Wind cares not
Now none recall his name.

How lovely it is to be greeted by the lush wild beauty of my unkempt and now untamed garden upon my return; an oasis of nature within all the hustle and bustle and striving and thriving that is this living, breathing city. A retreat, should I need one as I try to fall back into the rhythm and flow of 'civilization'.

I feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and remembered.

Now, to see how many old friends and colleagues share the fondness of the memories of the flora!

Things have been busy, busy, busy! Between my performance at the Rhythm of the World Festival, and the commissions that I have been working on, I have had little time to spare for tending to my garden. But I have planted the flowers, and they will hopefully be ready to bloom come spring. Then it will be ready for what I have planned. Come the spring, I hope to open it for guests to enjoy tea and treats, while enjoying performances from various entertainers. Are you an entertainer in search of a venue to perform? Please reach out to me! I will be happy to host you at the Wild Plains Bazaar.

I am so glad that I came to this city. There are endless opportunities, and endless sources of inspiration. My new patron, Ambassador Bahiya'al'Mathali, has been most generous and I must admit the outfit I made for her was one of my finest works. Even the Queen has asked me to make outfits for her, which I can hardly believe. I hear the spidersilk ensemble went over spectacularly. It feels like a dream. I keep pinching myself, to see if I am in fact dreaming. Luckily, I do not think that I will be running out of ideas anytime soon!

I took my explorers this test this week. It took a lot of pushing by my friends to go do it. I did not believe I could ever pass something that requires being outside. I have never been someone who enjoys being up trees or hunting or hiking or running. Their support gave me the strength to try.

The prompt response from the pathfinder and the kindness of Caspian saw me follow through on going and pushed me to try my hardest. I am still not certain that the test was not made easier for me, or if some points were secretly added because I know how to stop bleeding, but I passed and it gives me hope that I will be better prepared for what is ahead.

Except if it involves running. I am certain that is a skill I will never master.

Tonight is the Longest Night: the most holy day of Lagoma's seasonal calendar and the eve of the Thirteen Days of Year's End. All over the Compact, the Faithful will pray in vigils together until the predawn light greets us for the Canticle of Dawn. We will kneel in the small parishes churches, the isolated shrines and Solace waystations across the reach of the world. We will stand in the Crownlands, in the Mourning Isles, in the Oathlands; we will sing paeans in the Lyceum and the Saffron. Our voices will not be the same, for the liturgy will be led by different voices in each place. The thanks we give to the gods will be different in each of our hearts and the change that we embrace will be different in all of our communities.

Tonight we will feast together and then pray long into the night. We will be joyous about what is to come and we will offer respect to what has gone before. We will remember what we learned of the year before, and we will look ahead to our hopes and dreams for the year to come.

Some of us will sing the old songs, the canticles of our childhoods. Some of us will sing the new paeans, the poetry of inspired bards that have penned something new, for Lagoma and for Jayus. And all of we Faithful will join hands in love, in remembrance, in hope. Because the year ends, and another year begins, as all things must end so that they may begin anew.

Pray to each of the gods with me. Feast with your loved ones. Share what plenty you have with your neighbor if your neighbor has less. Come to the shrine, drink of the hot tea and warm bread we offer on our doorstep. And stand vigil until the dawn as we say good night to the longest night of the year.

Privilege is not a sin that requires absolution. Rather, it is a mark of your station and should be both recognized and embraced.

May I suggest, if anyone is feeling particularly ill at ease with their wealth and status as a noble, donations to your friendly local Knights of Solace? I find that where the time and effort fail to do work myself on behalf of the underprivileged or underfed, my coin can certainly do some speaking for me, for those who are organized and dedicated to the task.

It's far more productive than defending oneself to the pages of the Archive, anyway.

Relationship Note on Arianna

I found myself thinking of Arianna today. Some may be shocked by that. Some may not. I have been thinking of who I was at the start of my time in Arx and who I am now. I have been thinking over conversations that gave me ... enlightenment? Once upon a time, I spent a great deal at the Pravus home when it was located in a different place. There were moments that were placed before me from there and with those that carry that last name. Some of them touched my heart in those conversations. This one though. She led me down a different path that I had planned to start. She led me in some ways where I am now. I just wanted to let people know that every now and again, I still think about her.

I understand. You bend the knee and they put Lady or Lord in front of your name, you have to maintain a certain image.

You hunt still because you enjoy the thrill of it, not because you have to, if you chose to hang it up -- some servant of yours would still bring you meals. Your hearth would still be hot. Your fields tilled and all you sow, reaped.

Furs and oaken, uncomfortable chairs do not absolve you of being a noble.

It is what it is.

It is not an experience you want to endure. Trust me.

You don't spend time in the north, do you? Because fighting to survive is exactly what we do. Learning how to use a weapon at a young age really helps with that. As well as helping get us food. We also plant our own food, so that knocks off the farming part too. I don't know how things work in the Lyceum, not really. But I'd be happy to sit hear about it!

It's been a very long time since I've put ink to parchment, to record any thoughts of Enyo Malvici... Formerly Enyo de Lire, formerly Enyo Golden. I've greatly failed in my duties here.

I'm not even sure where to begin at this point. Scholar, I apologize for not having some grand story. I do, I'm just not sure where to begin with writing it. Not yet, I need to sort out a few things before beginning I think.

I do know that what I can say, with no need to sort anything out... I'm glad that I'm back, I'm so sorry to those I left and my heart bleeds for those gone never to return.

I can't put a head on a spike or in a bag, but I'll find my own pathway to retribution.

The first chance they get, the silk puts a sword into the hand of their children.

They teach them how to kill. How to keep what generations before have taken.

First lesson among commoners, however, is how not to die.

I suppose that's why there's so few farmers or masons in the Hall of Heroes.
