Relationship Note on Dawn

A regal and surprising noble woman who seems to welcome me to House Grayson. She is wary yet seems more than fair unto me thus far. A woman like her makes me wish to prove myself to her that I can be a valuable man, though I be by their standards lowest base born. She took me to a fancy supper at House Velenosa and I hope that I comported myself acceptably, though I was well out of my element.

Relationship Note on Calista

Lady Calista Fidante, the Rose of Tor. Sister to the Duke Leo Fidante. While undeniably beautiful and alluring, as I've gotten to know her more over the weeks and months, I am even more impressed by her kindness and heart. I feel warm affection for her and know that the sentiment is reciprocated. She is a wonderful woman and I look forward to continuing my friendship with her throughout the years.

Relationship Note on Benjamin

It's a genuine surprise that I didn't put two and two together when it was mentioned that a surgeon joined the illustrious ranks of the Champions. Suppose I forgot the name and didn't remember the face, which can happen.

Either way, pleased that the man who probably saved my sense of vanity and several important internal organs, is now in my circle. He's a gifted surgeon, or he was ten years ago or so, and his hands look as steady now as they were then.

Relationship Note on Dawn

While Alaric may be the head of the family, Dawn is the bedrock that supports it all. When we were young we would train together - often with Duke Bisland - and then as now I recognize her strength and resolve. Through difficult times she remains resolute and in better times she shows enormous care and concern for her family. She is an admirable woman, shrewd and sharp, and I am blessed to call her cousin and friend.

Relationship Note on Anastasio

I had the opportunity to meet with this man through my inquiry via classifieds. The little research I did on his identity speaks little of the true delight this man is to have in one's company. I hate having to explain myself, especially more than once, so when Anastasio understood my intentions before we even sat to discuss business it was refreshing. I feel priviledge that he is working with me and now my mood good for our future holds a shit ton of silver and fame.

Work has commenced on the Admiral warship with some of the crew moving back to the birthing while the rest remain at the camp on the beach. Mostly the master at arm's men as they have been tasked with sound and security and land play better for that sort of training. I spoke to Lou about waste management and she reiterated what was on my mind, as a result I have authorized the camp to dispose of waste through burning and only when the wind is in our favor as to not pollute the city. Reports have come back favorly. About my other business, I haven't been the most responsible with as I am waiting for my gifts to be completed by another artist, not Enzo, as of today I have not heard from said artist and will request Sir Silas to commence the project and move forward with my meetings. I can not continue to keep this people waiting or fear their lost of interest.

Relationship Note on Kima

I really don't think there's anyone in the world as brilliant and delightfully promiscuous as Kima Saik. I adore that woman. I wish I was half as brave as she.

"Blessed child, favored of the Pantheon, receive this blessing and go forth, as a servant, to heal the world around you, to offer wealth and aid to those that seek to heal the King, in Faith and in medicine. Glorify they, in whom our direction lies."

I'm not sure why this felt like instruction, but it really did.

I need to think on it more.

I didn't bother expressing any interest in the guild master position due to already having a job. I put forth Mistress Ida's name because I was familiar with her work and she seemed readily available, but evidently she rejected the offer. A shame!

I know little of Mistress Joscelin outside of her patronage under Lady Dawn; jewelry is not something I shop for very often. But if the passion and interest is there I have no qualms with letting her have the job.

A search for a new Guildmaster is being conducted. My name was suggested, which truly honored me beyond what words could describe. I mentioned as much to Prince Edain, in a laugh-with-me sort of way, but he thought I might do well at it. It is rare that I ever find myself disagreeing with His Grace, but I had to. Though he did share a bit of wisdom his sister had offered him, which I will hold close to heart and mind.

I have a marked distaste for politics. It's a bit like forging armor; I'll do it if I have to, but I don't enjoy it. The Crafter's Guild deserves someone who will have a passion to lead it through politics and to its future. I don't think I am that person. With that, though, was a bit of nagging guilt, considering the lack of interest from the others. Is it a duty I should take up, despite feeling ill-fit for such a thing? Thankfully, that became moot as my dear friend and fellow smith, Mistress Joscelin, has an interest. I think she'd make a wonderful and impassioned Guildmaster.

When Anastasio Belardi sent out a call for the post of guildmaster,I had much the same reaction as everyone else: no thank you, I would rather be working on my craft.

While it amuses me that all of us spoke with the same disinterest, it strikes me as careless that we have no voice for ourselves as a collective -and- a guild. While I really have no interest in being a leader, with the responsibilities and burdens such a position would take from my time as a maker, I love the amazing, creative, crazy, hard-working, devoted, Jayus-blessed busy-bodies I call my peers. And with the realization of that love is a need to protect this corner of the community. My corner. Having a Voice in political proceedings and being able to invest in ventures, be they financial, exploration, even local, is simply prudent. Especially with the tension in the air.

So I'm not sure where this road will lead and it may as yet come to pass that I fail at my bid for the post, but it's a road my feet and heart have found and I intend to follow it through.

Gods help me. No, don't write that. I said -don't---

I purchased a silk outfit from Mistress Aurora. I will look like the most dapper huntsman ever come the next super fancy event I feel obligated to attend (which admittedly is not very often).

Little will they know I am a rather poor hunter. Unless they happen to read this.

Another Game Night is on the agenda in the near future, but I need to ensure my schedule will permit it first. Things are a little disorganized at the moment and I feel out of the loop on some things.

Relationship Note on Esera

I am not nervous around too many, if perhaps mostly because I tend to not be around people of great status terribly often. When I am, they are asking me for forge something or make me comfortable. Perhaps the Grand Duchess title, or the fact that her elegance is like a physical presence at the events I've been to that she attended, made me somewhat nervous about Her Grace, Grand Duchess Esera Velenosa. Despite that, I sent word offering to craft a pair of hairpins for her when she advertised asking for a hair ornament to match a fireweave outfit. She has been an exceptionally gracious benefactor of the artisans, so sent word offering my skills. I expected a messenger and, instead, received her as a visitor to the shop. I talked too much, which is often the case, but she was every bit as gracious in person. And? I'm pretty sure she liked the hairpins. Hopefully she'll have no need for them beyond keeping her hair up.

Relationship Note on Orazio

Every child should have an aunt or uncle as Kima and I were blessed to have in our uncle, now Archlector Orazio. It feels so odd to use that title and name. It makes something almost foreign out of something so familiar. I was happy to find that in title alone when Kima and I joined him for a dinner to make far too belated reunion. Despite the robes, despite the title, the man who doted on us as children with little gifts and tried to fool us with his expressionless masks and dire tales is still very much there. With such uncertainty ahead, I am glad to have his wise and trusted voice to turn to here in Arx.

Relationship Note on Lou

To say that Princess Lou is unprincessly would make the statement that princesses are supposed to be a particular sort of way. I imagine some people think that, but I figure princess is more a title than something that dictates who someone is. A rather roundabout way of saying that Princess Lou seems one of those people who uses her talents and follows her passions, regardless of what name she is attached to. I enjoyed forging a bow for her, which I truly hope serves her well, as well as just meeting and speaking with her.. I also have to admit having some favor toward people who want something to use rather than display.

Relationship Note on Viktarkim

Viktarkim, a tribesman scout and Shav...or former Shav? I'm not sure how one might define him. How I define him, though, is someone in the service of Princess Lou and Lady Dawn, so surely worthy of my own trust. He was sent to me to order some items by them and has a true eye for design - which is maybe unexpected? I have no idea. It seemed beyond his comprehension that someone who makes weapons can't use them, and who fights, does so for sport. I mean, I guess there's a bit of irony there which I hadn't considered before then. It reminded me that when he fights, it's likely to kill. A little dose of the reality of who he was, or can be. Maybe it wasn't beyond his comprehension as much as he thought me odd for it all? Hard to tell, I guess. It was certainly one of my more interesting meetings, that's for sure.

I had the loveliest visit with Lady Dawn and Prince Inquisitor Laric at the Grayson estate. We definitely do not always see the world the same way, but frankly, I find that endearing. The world would be dreadfully boring if we all did, and no one would ever learn anything. I think we both suffer from a lack of outside experience, having lived most of our lives in Arx or Lenosia, respectively.
All in all, I do not envy my sister's place in having to navigate the waters of the Assembly. I take comfort, however, that even if two people disagree, friendship can overcome anything. I have the luxury of being able to afford friendships, rather than simply political allies. It is not something I shall take for granted.
