Completely delightful evening at the gala. The ingenious tasks broke the ice open wide and forced the partygoers to embrace the ridiculous. It gives me loads of ideas to pepper Sylphie with for the housewarming ball she clearly must eventually throw when the renovations are complete!

Relationship Note on Myrinda
A superb crafter. Her work on my gala outfit was of very high quality; should I need any more outfits for social engagements—as opposed to adventuring—I'll certainly seek her out again.

While I hosted this event with Her Grace, I can't sit here and claim that I came up with all of this myself. My protege had a lot to do with it, and while she was not the host I'm taking the time to praise her here as well as to anyone that will listen to me.
She approached me around a month after I arrived to the city and since then, our business relationship has been a fruitful and successful one. I'm quite proud to be her patron.
I would also have to praise the efforts of Mistress Joscelin, as she was responsible for the favors, as well as those of Sir Silas, who built those magnificent chests that were awarded.
Finally, praise goes to Mistress Aurora, for she created the outfits the outfits worn by Acacia and I both.
I am pleased that everyone seemed to enjoy a taste of the Lyceum.

Relationship Note on Calista
Lady Calista. She is young, but she has a very keen mind. I had a chance to dance with her today,and as part of her task, she made me wear a blindfold. I can at least say that I didn't crash into anyone. Almost, but not quite. I had a good time with her, and I look forward to the next time she and I get to converse.

Relationship Note on Vincere
Pietro and Vincere Igniseri are a pair of twins who are related to Lady Cara's family in some manner. Fostered with her house, but I'm not certain if they're blood relatives. I met them in the stacks of the Archive.
Vincere—at least, I'm fairly certain that one is Vincere—seems a bit of a scholar, interested more in the artifacts or scrolls I have brought back to the Archives than in tales of how they were retrieved. Still, a scholar who has an interest in history is an adventurer in a sense, even if they only journey through the bits of information we can salvage.
He might still be interested in the Adventurer's Society, even if perhaps not as intensely as his brother.

Pietro—at least, I think it was Pietro—seems a kindred spirit, someone who yearns for adventure and exploration. Though he's my own age, he has a level of enthusiasm that makes him seem younger than he is.

I've decided I should create an adventurer's society.
It would be a group dedicated to exploring, to discovering the forgotten past, to meeting new peoples... just generally to expanding our knowledge of our world, whether culturally, historically, or cartographically. A place for adventurers to meet, and share their stories and plans for expeditions. For those who are eager to learn more—or to join an expedition—to visit. And for those who are interested in providing financial backing (or some other form of resources) to an expedition to meet those whose efforts they are backing.
If nothing else, it would provide a social environment where I know everyone else shares my interests. And perhaps an excellent place to find someone to journey with me.

Relationship Note on Niccolo
Duke Niccolo was part of my "task" this evening at the Gala of Smoke and Shadows. Initially I was going to steal Duchess Nadia but his grace asked me to dance and the moment was simply perfect. My task was to dance with someone blindfolded. I could have easily blindfolded myself and felt my way around the room, but I thought it would be more interesting to have my lead and my liege be the blindfolded individual.
He did wonderfully even if he just barely missed running into wine serving servants. Chances are I would not have felt as comfortable or as safe were it someone else.

Relationship Note on Jarek
I was not sure what to make of Prince Jarek Velenosa the first time we met. Admittedly, I was not expecting him and felt awkwardly fake when entertaining him. Our second meeting was short lived but it was tonight at the Gala of Smoke and Shadows (or Shadows and Smoke) that he took me by surprise with an invitation to dance which then utterly swept me off from the dance floor and out to the world to explore the night.

The Archduchess put together quite the gala this evening. I'm uncertain if it was her or her sister that made me sing that song as my task for the evening, but it was amusing and I enjoyed my time there.

The Duchess was quite stunning tonight at the Gala. I find spending time with her to be rather refreshing, especially as it lets my thoughts drift away from my duties, but only for a time. In hopes of providing the Whisper House with all the resources they need to retain their reputation as the elite guild of companions, I have gifted them a force of armoured sellswords to use as chaperones in moments that require them.
In the interest of ensuring that clientele do not run off screaming I have encouraged them to remain in uniform; gold and white tabards, tailored to suit their function.
They've been acquired from the Crimson Blades after negotiation with Lord General Tobias Telmar himself. So far their service has been satisfactory.
I pray they'll never need to uncover their blades to prove their professionalism in securing a Whisper's safety.

The gala this week was themed for challenges and trickery. My task was of little interest and therefore I did not play. The archduchess claims I am a bore and in that I must confess that yes, sometimes, I am.
How fortuitous then that I was able to entertain the Lord Rubino, and his companionable co-ruler of Gemecitta, Lady Zaffria.
