Relationship Note on Dafne

My cousin grows by leaps and bounds under my own eye. The city of Arx has been good for expanding her horizons and showing her more of life. And she matures within it, of which I am glad.

She will need to be more mature than she knows, soon enough, in times like these.

Relationship Note on Edain

I can always count on my dear brother to be confident in my ability to do anything I set my mind to. Even if it happens to involve large animal carcasses. This is what true sibling support is all about.

I'm rather certain that Duke Niccolo expected a quieter dinner than resulted, but I suspect far more was accomplished than expected, too.

Let it never be said we throw a dull dinner party in the Lyceum.

Relationship Note on Vincere

Has any liege had such a helpful vassal as I have? Vincere is polite, respectful. He has a sharp mind and a sharper wit and ability to observe. When I think about the perfect partner, the perfect person to help in any endeavor-- I think of the Marquis Igniseri.

I am only sad to see him leave to reopen his own home in the city.

Relationship Note on Anze

I finally met this Prince Anze Redrain that I have heard so much about. He makes his is plain spoken brother, Prince Fergus, seem loquaciously tame by comparison. He is a very good fighter, and probably wields a great blade with better precision than anyone I have seen who is not named Victus. He seems to think my sister cannot carry a deer for some reason. This is of course proposterous, Princess Alis is perfectly capable of carrying any dead animal she so chooses.

Relationship Note on Tulasam

A bard! He sings, plays a lute, and does magic tricks. Tulasam should be good for a few stories! Truth be told, he seems a friendly sort and I do hope he comes by the shop to trade stories.

Relationship Note on Victus

The sword I made Lord Victus some time ago now lies at the ocean's bottom. I've set myself to working on a new sword.

Relationship Note on Joscelin

I met the Guildmaster not long ago, but I have high hopes for building a good rapport. So far, so good. The evening before last, we chatted a while over tea.

The meeting of the Compact'size scholarly minds went well. It gives me hope for our future. Everyone was willing to participate and be respectful. Much good will come frome these collaborations.

Talen's snake went into my room unattended and killed my rabbit. This leads to other questions such as: why was the snake out and about the estate? What if the snake decided to bite me instead of poor Icicle? Should Talen be completely forgiven for bringing the rabbit into my life and then viciously ripping the poor dear from it?

He has soothed me enough that I do not wish for either man nor reptile blood.

Relationship Note on Costas

This sailor with poor choice making skills seems nice enough. He let me make him a cloak, and in return he promised me a gift. I am not sure if the small pretty red vial he gave me was the gift or if it was a birthday present, and I am still owed a gift? Either way, I look forward to speaking with him in the future.

Relationship Note on Lark

A cousin to Princess Lou, Lark seems to be a no nonsense person, down to earth and practical in ways I can appreciate. I don't know her well, yet, but she has made a good impression upon myself. I would like to get to know her better.

Relationship Note on Edain

The Prince of Sanctum. High Lord Valardin. And rather swiftly becoming one of my favorite sparing companions and conversation companions.

We shared a spar this afternoon that could have lasted for hours if exhaustion hadn't caught up to us. Each blow parried or matched. Ferocity, in all of its passion, kept us on our toes as we traded blows. It was a beautiful thing. Respectable.

Sometimes, watching a good sparring match is nearly as cathartic as participating in one yourself. Two good matches; Anze vs. Aksel and Edain vs. Calypso.

Quite well done.

Mistress Eithne's work with rubicund to conclude the set of armour I've commissioned has yet to be finished but from what I can tell her ability is rivalled by none. It remains to be seen if the equipment comes out as I dreamed it to be.

Master Kenemir's work with southern hides of Lyceum diresnake is to be commended. The leather armour developed to my designs has so far been found pleasing.

It seems that Hiss, my viper, may have killed Princess Jaenelle's rabbit. I have made amends with a gift and so far, I am forgiven.

This does, however, speak of the warning against the archduchess' wish to own a cat. It will not end well.

Theological Musings.
I've never seen a city so blinded, yet so enlightened. The untapped potential for controlled passions has never been more invigorating, yet the utter denial of such necessities breaks my faithful heart. I learn much, even of my own journey, and the need for the Dark Reflection has never been more acute.

Amongst the Lyceum, the respect and dedication to the Thirteenth has waned. The spirit of the other Houses has always been one of 'ignore and maybe it'll go away,' but the favored people of the Reflection have lost sight of the truth of his word.

Strength comes from embracing the darknesses within us, and using them as tools, rather than denying or even vilifying them. The corruption of the soul comes when that balance falls to one side or the other, for Light blinds, more painfully, and just as much as Darkness. Corruption is not the agency of the Thirteenth, but the bane of it. What strength can there be in a corrupted soul? Onle one honest with themselves and who they truly are can be purified and made whole.

The lessons, skewed and perverted infect all manner of vocation, influential and overlooked alike. Perhaps the animostiy comes from resisting the call of the soul, and the ignorance in what that call means, what it requires. Even in my imperfection, I realize the danger that faces me, whenever I look into the mirror, and it is only through the understanding of the Dark Reflection that I do not fall to that blighted existence.

My prayer to thee, oh Thirteenth of the Completed Pantheon, is to have the understanding embrace all who wish salvation from themselves, and the corrpution they've allowed to blind their hearts and minds. The Compact can stand on no less than whole souls.

Good men and women die every day. Most of us never know their names, or mark the moment of their passing. But those names that I do know, I keep close. Every night as I lie in bed, waiting for a few hours of sleep to claim me, I think of them. It is a small memorial, only a drop in the ocean of those who have been lost. But it is what I can do in the quiet moments I have to myself. That, and hope that it was not my choices, or my actions, that led to their loss. And when it has been...

Well, I must live with that, I must carry them with me, and let it spur me to improve.

I will do better, I swear it before the gods.

Relationship Note on Juliet

She has supported me so much. The Rose of Tor, she has styled herself. She seems to live and breathe scandal, and thrive on it. She is so very dear. She, and the Princess like her, have much in common, when I went to pay my respects to the late Baron.

I don't think they can steal me from my Baron. I admit to not quite knowing the laws on this, but I think it might be illegal
