Sometimes life devastates us in ways we didn't realize were possible, and sometimes it takes us places we never imagined. There's always good to take with the bad. Balance. The concept has meant a lot more to me, lately. Without it, life feels like trying to run while wearing only one boot.

I knew an effort was being made to wake the King. I'm more glad than I can say that it was successful. I can only hope the rest of our efforts work as well. I fear the costs will be higher though.

Relationship Note on Eirlys
Eirlys was one of the first people I met after my arrival here in Arx, and along with her brother, the first of the Greenmarch I met. On the surface, one might think the two of us near polar opposites. While my time is spent in books, and my emotions are reserved, Eirlys is one of the finest warriors that I have had the pleasure of knowing, and wears her emotions freely upon her sleeve. Yet I am certain this is the reason we have become such good friends. We both share a passion for teaching in our own ways, a loyalty to our families, and a desire to make things better in this world. This friendship has blossomed into something more akin to family: a cousin or sister, but regardless, a more steadfast companion to have your back, I could not ask for.

I once told the Princess and her Cousin on a summer cruise that if she so wished it, I would assist them in stealing a ship of their choosing. Little did I realize she'd produce her own ship and a 'Prince' prize to go with it.
Bloody Gods, it was freezing cold, but it was exhilarating at the same time and I'd do it again without a thought. For entertainment and good will, it was perfect.
Mistress Leta was fantastic. I thought I was doing pretty good, but she'd just fly past. She was made for this kind of thing, really. I can't help but be a little envious.
I'm rather glad that Lord Franco and Orathy didn't end up tripping everyone on the way out though. It was good seeing the blood rushing through my Not-Uncle in the way it was and Lord Franco's a sight of his own.
Overall, it was a great success. But then again, I'm always a huge fan of the things Princess Jaenelle puts on.

I have never been to sea, but I imagine it must be like being in this city. I feel small and tossed about in its vastness, as something far beyond me rages outside.
I am in a strange sea, and I feel the coming storm. Gloria, send me strength that I may face it with honor and resolve. I do not feel adequate for it, but I shall try to forge my body into a weapon that can stand against it. I pray it is enough. That time has made me enough of a knight for this.
I miss the Twainfort more than I thought possible. It has never felt so much home to me as it does now, that I am far from it. I pray that Petrichor sees me back to what has become my home soon enough, though I fear it shall be many days before I see it again. My duty is here now. I shall get it done. However I am called to it.

They say even a tiny trickle of water, will eventually move a mountain. From the frigid peak to the base of it's rise. When I was a child the view of the mountains and trees were all I could see. I heard stories of how vast the ocean was. It is a sight to see, something I only had dreamt of. Lake is no comparison.

I do hope you find yourself a warm place to sleep! Might I suggest you collect Black Mountain adverts and use them to line your bed? It will help keep away the shivers, and keep the hay from poking you.

Sold the first bottle of Dreamwine a few days ago. Guess I can add merchant to my list of skills now. The stuff has an interesting flavor - a good one once you get used to it - but it's the lucid dreaming that's the real selling point I think. Plus the crystal decanters are really pretty. Hopefully, it'll lead to some good trade for House Leary. And maybe an increase in my pay.

While I am here to see to other duties, my responsibilities to my people are not forgotten. Duke Rubino and I are in Arx, fighting every day for you. For the prosperity of our lands, for the safety of our people, so that we all may have a future together. But what good is that if our vision of the future is not the same as yours?
