Oh, to be on deck with the salt spray battering at my face.

I attended. I don't know why people have birthday parties but they do. It was as unenjoyable as expected. I'm not good at hiding that. I don't care. I was there, I'm sure they were horrified at my presence and isn't that what counts?

I forgot to mention, attended a party this week. A princess called me a lady and I corrected her. I'm not sure if it's worse manners to correct a princess or worse not to. Life in the city is so complicated.

I was relieved that I was helpful to the north. I do what I can to help this fealty of mine while I struggle with that I can do to better serve the Blackwoods in their absence. I wish they were around more to help make these things more clear. The best I can do is pray I am a good steward to their interests in Arx and give what aid we can to the Crovane.

I didn't attend. But I paid for it. I must be getting gullible in my old age to be convinced to pay for a party, but there it is. I only regret I wasn't there to ruin all the kids' fun. Next time.

Relationship Note on Lilia

My favorite child. It's good to let them know where in the hierarchy they are. The ones low down - like my eldest son - know they need to do better to impress me. The top candidates - like Lilia - know what behavior to continue. She's a good girl. Smart and friendly and pretty. So, nothing like me. That's not a bad thing. Not everyone should be like me. She's a kind girl and makes me feel like maybe I'm not entirely saddled with unfit children.

As is becoming something of a trend with Lady Monique's parties, the only disappointment I had with the Spring Soiree was that it didn't last a little longer, like for another week.

In fairness, one extravagant night is as much as you can reasonably ask of the hostess anyway.

A copper crown with blossoms blue and petals raining from the sky. New discoveries and first meetings, and an Archlector who is not as tall as one might suspect, and a Princess taller than one might find. But never to fear, for the Dame has approved ladders if one needs help with any shelves. Artists abound, as well as happy little trees. I've nver found it in me to paint happy little trees, but it is good to hear that there are those that do.

Relationship Note on Tikva

Without any place for debate, the highlight of my day amidst other duties was witnessing Tikva turn a Question and Answers meeting regarding the Ministry of Civil Development into a ballroom party of sorts -- or perhaps just a general dancing party. If I was asked whomever in the Arvium could do such a thing, I would've guessed Tikva.

With so much going on in my life as of late, I have been remiss about writing in my public journals. I am reluctant to write much about the missions I have been part of, though, thankfully, they have been overall successful, for which I am very thankful.

I've been making an effort to be a bit more social too. I have SO MANY people I have need and desire to talk to, and so little time. I haven't forgotten about you... you know who you are.. (all of you on my list).

Brianna had a gown made for me of brighter hues than I usually wear, and gold, as a push to have me attend Monique and Corban's Springtime Soiree. I was overwhelmed by the crowd (there was a rather large one) but, I had a great deal of fun.

Thank you, Bri.

I received a mysterious little note telling me that I looked very good in blue and gold. Drysi refused to tell me who delivered it. The handwriting looks familiar... but as if they tried to mask it. I will figure it out, one way or another. To whomever sent the compliment, thank you.

Sometimes, even a Northern Shaman who likes a no fuss style and tends to look... carefree... likes to feel feminine and attractive.

I've returned from a journey to Redrain lands, which proved quite enjoyable. Rugged as the going was, the sights were spectacular, a reminder that nature's beauty can put to shame even our most elaborate human workings. The diplomacy itself, with some local shav'arvani, was, I daresay, routine: untrusting people, but also poor people, easily reassured by a little compassion and generosity. Really, if only everything was so simple! Still, it was important work, and important that it be done right, so I think my time was well-spent.

I am thankful we all returned from the Neverwinter, perhaps a bit banged up and bruised, but we were successful in our endeavor and retrieved a weapon. A very large, heavy one at that. I think I will go out and visit with Barkfeather this week. And perhaps speak with the Unicorns about him, so that they know he is out there and that it is a safe place for them to go too.

Also, if you ever run across a Basilisk, you can scare one away by making the sound of a rooster crowing. It worked really well for us, glad Fia knew about it.

Who needs unicorns when you can have friends that are hot murderous half-fish women? I'll happily stick with my man-eating mermaid companions.

The Gray Forest expedition continues, and we seem to be making good progress. I was able to go upon a small scouting patrol, where we came upon some brutish creatures harassing (and probably planning to eat) one of the local tribeswomen, along with her dog. Fortunately she was the saved (and the dog too, though I am more neutral on that!) and she has provided us with some information. Unfortunately the braver sorts I traveled with were all beaten up quite a bit, although that somewhat justified my presence!

I've had these two random pieces of crimson seasilk for nearly a year. I should probably have something made out of them, eventually. But what?

I didn't really get to talk to Legate Orazio much but he was a very good sport during the game that we were both a part of. It was a good first impression of him to be sure!

Relationship Note on Barric

One thing that can be said about Barri, he certainly knows when to cut loose and do fierce battle when needed. Always a pleasure to know he's looking out for Ribbons back on the field so I don't have to worry so much.

Those big green fuckers went down hard, but alaericite hurts them near as much as bringers. Hopefully they'll fall just as hard as the other demon spawn did against us if we should face more of them.
