The Countess' dinner was spectacular! And the company just as pleasant. All in all, the night couldn't have been better.

The masque was certainly interesting for the brief amount of time I was there, though I think I was a bit out of my element. Still, first time for everything, and at least I have something to wear if another one pops up, though I still say dresses are damn inconvenient. Maybe I should have worn stockings instead. Hmm.

Nice way Tehom's actor took advantage of the dim lights and our attention focused on the 'winner' to scoot out the back door.
And here I was expecting a demonic attack and all I got was a bit of slight of hand.
I was almost disappointed.
The ball was fucking beautiful even if I hate parties and only stayed for, maybe a half hour?

It has taken me several days to build up the courage to do this. As if reliving the night would make me feel fresh the shame that I had then.
The ball was a great success and I applaud my friends Talen and Eleyna for their success. I loved the costumes and the masks and the atmosphere.
I confess to making a fool of myself. I took my mask off early on, it was stuffy and hot. Of course the only person with a mask off in a masked ball is going to stand out. I wanted to hide in my room the rest of the ball. I made a small scene, running out like a child! It was appalling. Princess Alarissa did try to temper my embarrassment and I thank her for that. Some others did too, but they were less obvious with whom they are. Being so far along with child makes it difficult to be inconspicuous. The Mistress Margery Greyhope as I am told she is called by Talen, whom is surely an authority. Also came to my rescue later on.
For future reference I will know to never remove my mask during a masked ball and to always arrive with a date.
It would be nice if these events had more intermingling of the guests though.
I hope my shame can be a lesson to the future generations.

I've heard so many refer to Joslyn like a warrior-woman, running the gauntlet, sparring and such. To see her calmly, clad only in a towel while teaching a small weapons lesson patiently, capably and confidently (and with a bit of amusement) tends to confirm that opinion of others.

Countess Mia was good enough to host many of the Oathlands houses at Heron Hall last eve. The duck was delicious, the cider crisp and refreshing, and the company even better. It was good to be among easy-flowing conversation and to discuss our plans for the future. Already, we are in talks to regularize and better-protect trade routes through the Telmarch, freeing up our armies for work elsewhere.
I do wonder how Lady Monique ended up with those extra bottles of cider, however.

I've spent the past week or so working at the Shrine of the 13th, working closely with a Silent Reflection. I am still uncertain how I feel about this-- What a terrible fate. But it impressed upon the importance of safe guarding Knowledge, and it also gave me an interesting look into communication in other ways than writing and speech:

The Merchant's Assembly went very well for the first one held, and Lady Lucita is a lovely and able co-hostess. There was talk of holding another, and people seemed quite interested so it must be repeated.

I am deeply honored to have been asked to become a Voice for the Velenosa family. I might not have been born a Velenosa, but I proudly carry it and all that comes with being one.

Wish there was a way to maintain two lines of thought at once. So many need help, mind fractured but not in productive way. Pieces still need to be connected. Will help Eirene to best of ability this week, then return to ballistae design next. Wish I could continue in my sleep.

For clarity's sake, Your Grace, will you fight anyone in stockings or anyone wearing stockings? I mean, really, if you're fighting about stockings (even if the specific stockings you are championing are Princess Alarissa's), you should be fighting in stockings.

I'm another that firmly believes Velenosa is in good hands with Archduchess Eleyna. I pity the woes she will have to endure, all the increased work and paperwork. All while trying to keep a firm handle on what Prince Talen will get himself into. Quite the workload.

I cannot begin to express just how much joy I feel in my heart that my marriage to Inigo has truly helped to mend the broken history between Tor and Southport. Many noble marriages are solely based on politics and while our union does fulfill a great political alliance, ours was a story of love long before we exchanged vows.

It has truly been an honor and a pleasure to serve Velenosa as a Voice during a more fragile time. Your decision to simplify things and keep the Lyceum organized and streamline is something I personally agree with. Kudos to you for bringing back stability.
