I went to Lord Killian's funeral. I am sad that he is dead. I only had one real encounter with him, and it involved fighting cruel and deadly things, but he was extremely nice to me and I had hoped that we'd be able to be friends afterwards. In a sense, I am mourning the loss of opportunity to get to know someone who was clearly reckoned a great man. I am mourning the loss of opportunity to learn from him. It is difficult to truly mourn someone you barely met, but easy to mourn the loss of potential friendship and camaraderie. I feel deeply for his friends and family, though, and hope that they find comfort in this difficult time.

I don't normally take to the whites with my personal relationships or my petty daily grievances. At least not on a typical day. However, sometimes things of note transpire and it seems worthwhile to spend a few minutes publicly recording my feelings and experiences.
My wife is not a bully that tromps around in the personal affairs of other people looking to start fights and cause distress for no due cause.
However, I do find Marquis Fairen Leary to be a mercurial individual who takes time out of his day to send repeated missives to a loyal, honest and upstanding family of the Oathlands. For reasons that I find suspect as well as baffling. And even when it has been requested he stop, not only by those he messages but by House Laurent, by my voice, /my wife./
I hear that he doesn't appreciate anything even remotely resembling "dirty laundry" to be aired publicly. If he would like to send some more of his missives out, the sort that resemble creative writing, he's welcome to direct them my way.

I have begun stalking the White Journals again. Not to fear, I'm only looking through info on my brothers. I miss them dearly. Plus, I had made a promise to myself to invite those they knew to dinner, so I might hear stories of them. So, there may be more than a few dinner invitations going out, and we may be a bit more poorer for it, but I think it will be worth it to hear what others have to say about them.
In the meantime, sword lessons with my cousin, Luis, prove to be turning out well. I certainly have more than enough bruises to show just how unskilled I really am. Now that I know some of the basics of sword play, I've contacted Mistress Hana to order a sword for myself - in the typical phoenix design so favored by our House.

My mother never warned me about this... Maybe it's just me. But I shall, for future Farshaw and Wyrguard generations, begin a new chronicle in my journals called: "Recently I have cried because..."

Sober, serious, intelligent. He's a Knight from the Oathlands, and I can appreciate that. He's serious about his duty, I can appreciate that too. He has an open mind which is more important than ever right now. And he's going to be a lot of fun to torment. Ahem. I mean serve with. A lot of fun to serve with.

Relationship Note on Eleanor
She's taking her first assignment where she's in command of other Knights on business of the King. I know in my heart of hearts I chose right when I let her join the King's Own - and while this first assignment is extremely dangerous, I believe she is going to acquit herself well. And come home safely. This is the most difficult part of command. But I know her father would be proud of the woman she has become. I am too.

It's untrue, but language's not oft accurate either is my point. People oft say they "sweat like pigs", too, sometimes. But we raised pigs at times, and I can tell you that pigs don't sweat at all. Doesn't matter how accurate it is, many will get what you mean.

But as I explained, it doesn't actually mean leader at all. If you thought a word meant sword and it didn't, and you kept using it to refer to dull chunks of metal that didn't resemble swords at all, that wouldn't actually turn those chunks of metal into swords no matter how much you insisted. It just makes you look a little dim.

Relationship Note on Logan
I feel sorry for anyone that cannot see how honorable, pure and devoted the Lady Khanne is to the betterment of all of the North, Arx and the Compact as a whole. I have not had the opportunity to meet the Duke of Halfshav, but I trust Lady Khanne implicitly in all things. A better friend I have never had. I have complete faith in her. To those seeking to diminish her, her name, or her honor, you will have to cross Keaton to do so.
