It has been some time since I had an Igniseri dinner that was completely open to the public. Usually dinners are tailor made, meant to invite new people and introduce new connections to the family. It was just the balm I needed. We had good food, great company, and a large sense of humor. I am glad for all of the guests that arrived and look forward to the next time I hold an open dinner.

There was also probably copious amounts of drinking and much innuendo, but what would a Lycene dinner be without those things.

No poem has ever moved me as deeply as your paean.

You touch my heart. Thank you for being you.

Relationship Note on Tomwell

If you had befriended a poet, he might extol the beauty of your eyes; or a singer, perhaps, and he'd have sung couplets to your grace and elegance. I'm sure an artist would have sculpted or done portraits (though I have it on pretty good authority that an artist HATES doing portraits).

But instead you have befriended me, and so what you get instead is a paean to your virtues. By these words, I hope to write a moment into history, in an archive often full of the everyday detritus of life, that represents something sweeter.

Death spun your soul by the work of her hands, and started it on this path; a path marked by privilege and wealth, yes, and many men who are so privileged are seduced by the ease of their lives and fail to recognize the duty and obligation that are the other side of the coin of privilege. But you are mindful of duty, dedicated in service, humble in sacrifice. More I would say -- and I have said before -- that you encompass the best of the Crownlands. The courage of your heart, to love whole-heartedly and without reservation; the strength of your convictions, to stand for what you believe in the face of consequence; the passion of your service, unfailing in the dedication of your time and your effort and your empathy.

Only a small-minded person could fail to appreciate the great gift that you offer this world.

As for me, I regard the moment our friendship began as a true beginning, one to be cherished. Thank you for being you.

I do hope that Calvin will be joining me to pray for plenty at the Shrine of Petrichor, soon.

We won’t call it superstition, but we shall call it prudence.

Meetings upon meetings, upon meetings! Plans for The Gala have started in earnest,
with the Committee hard at work on all manner of things, and the brilliant suggestions
that have come out of their minds has had me getting more and more excited.

Legends.

Let that sit in your brains and stew. Enjoy just a fraction of my anticipation!

He won't starve to death.

He has a pouch for snacks.

Now we just all need to make sure he always has snacks to fill it with and then there won't ever be a problem.

I'm mildly concerned that you're only mildly concerned about the notion of him starving to death.

Lord Riagnon Acheron now has a dedicated snack pouch. If anyone should find him cutting open a teddy bear please rescue the teddy bear and send it to Whitehawk manor for proper care.

So the horse race was a success! I probably could have done a better job organizing it. Next time, I will, but at least people had fun with this one! It was something different, too many competitions in Arx are melees or gauntlets.

I am so very thankful our thoughts and goals wound up the same. The support rendered is deeply appreciated. Your visit to Saikland Greens is much anticipated. The family home and village are being made ready and they are all excited to see you and hope to show you the Mirrored Ballroom in honor of Tehom, the new archives for the Vellichor Scholars, donations of memorabilia to the War Memorial if you have a desire to see them.

One of my old tutors taught me that if you care about something, believe in it, invest in it.
It does not have to be silver or writs, it can be time, effort, thought.

I do not usually write such things in my journals, and one might surmise that it was lofty thoughts about family, duty, or faith, having me put quill and ink to these pages to record that old lesson, but truth be told, it is seeing the servant staring pointedly at the dwindling supply of twists of 'fire starter' papers that brought such a memory to mind. Most of the reports and barony plan outlines wind up being filed so they can be reviewed later to see what worked and what did not and those reports have filled up the desk drawer and a large part of a chest already. It is the failed attempts at song writing that produce so many 'fire starters', and I have neglected doing that lately. Perhaps today I will seek some song inspiration. If it goes well, there still won't be 'fire starters' or at least too many of them and the servant shall have to invest some time and thought into finding alternate 'fire starters' to use.

It's been an emotional week with the loss of Bo, but this morning the funk I've been in has lifted.

Nothing gives me greater joy than hearing that the war horses I've trained have done well in their races. It makes what I do all worth while and I'm so very proud of them /and/ their riders.

Dear journal, it has been a busy few weeks. House Kennex strives, of course, to increase their numbers and somebody has to stand over them. That is not yours truly, by the way. That's yon admiral in a purple hat with a feather. Someone has to train them though, and that's become my job as of late.

I suppose it counts as time on the sea if I'm throwing would-be sailors and rowers over the gunwale of the Damsel to simulate what it might be like to be knocked overboard while we're plowing through the waves at speed. So far, there have only been two that didn't swim well enough to make it, and I'm sure that Kennex can find use for them somewhere. They were fine in calm water.

it should be noted that we tied pots and pans from the galley to them to simulate arms and armor. Lost a perfectly good bundt pan that way, come to think of it.

Relationship Note on Paige

The Countess of Bonespire came by the shop with an offer of cookies and conversation, which I could hardly have passed up despite a few projects keeping me busy and other distractions. I too often forget the pleasantness of just talking about the small things along with the big things. Family, hopes, the future. Plus it gives me a chance to offer what I call my favorite Life Lesson quotes. I should throw them into a book sometime. Anyhow! My sincerest thanks to Countess Paige for drawing me away from the forge for a bit to remind me again of the life going on outside it.

Lot of people posting they were bored yesterday. Lot of people posting they were interested.

So is it more likely that the bored people sat with the interested people?

Or is it more likely that the bored people all sat together?
