Relationship Note on Reese

At least one of us is a truly good and noble person befitting their title.

I clearly should try to be more like her if I want to redeem myself.

Does this mean I need ribbons in my hair and a pink sword?

Relationship Note on Orathy

Biggest, brassiest balls. Ever.

How they didn't sink him to the bottom of the ocean with their prodigious weight I'll never know.

I only regret I can't buy him a drink and ask how he did it, since he'd probably try to stab me and I've had enough of being raked over the coals for killing in self defense.

It is about time I comment upon the situation with Orathy Culler, Prince Luca, The Thrax and myself

Prince Eric was leading a mission against known enemies of the Thrax and of compact. They were also smuggling Dust into the city. He took Prince Luca, Orathy and myself along Thrax nobles and commoners. While out at sea, Master Orathy cut the ropes of our ship, endangering all our lives in the process as to be out at sea while on a vessel with cut ropes is a very dangerous thing, especially with an enemy ship nearby. It seems possible that he was in league with the smugglers. The Thrax were understandably quite upset and as is their nature to be warriors who are far from soft, they were interested in killing him on the spot. Orathy jumped overboard and escaped. How he made it to shore is a mystery.

Not wanting him killed if at all possible, I expressed that I would arrest him if given the chance. The Thrax expressed that Master Culler would be lucky if I got to him first. They announced they were putting a bounty on his head. While I realized Mr. Culler did a bad thing, I wanted his life spared if all possible and set upon a course of keeping him alive.

We reached the ship which was populated by men who were armed, armored, fighting us and trying to smuggle dust into compact. They did not surrender. I followed Prince Luca and Prince Eric into that attack. Should I have? That is a question I cannot answer and one that haunts me. The killing of mortal men and woman gives me zero pleasure and great distress. Prince Eric assures me his intention was to protect Compact and those men were our enemies and I believe him. Still if I could do that all over again, I would have made a greater attempt to reduce the blood shed. I have already contacted Dominus Aldwin in regards to my intention of confessing and submitting myself to the faith regarding this matter. Soldiers kill in war and not everyone we kill is bad. Sometimes they are simply a threat to our own lands and families as these men were. But warriors of the faith should make every effort to save human life whenever possible and I did not make a great enough effort. It gives me great shame. It is not a mistake I intend to ever make again.

Later I called for the arrest of Orathy Culler in order to keep him from being killed by the Thrax. This is something that both Orathy Culler and his family were made aware of. They were told quite clearly it was for Orathy’s protection. The Duchess Belladonna stepped in, putting him under her protection and his life was successfully spared. Should I have taken that action? I do not know, but it was my attempt to reduce the blood shed and to take the punishment for Orathy’s actions upon myself. I figured as a Grayson princess, I could handle it. What is a few duels? Nothing I fear. But he could have been killed as a commoner of the lower boroughs. I had no affection for Orathy and bond with him, but I saw him as a man loved by the gods and not ready for his death.

The Thrax have not challenged me. Maybe they will now. I owe them a great apology for meddling here. I hope that will be able to see it was a love of life and not a dislike of that Thrax that spurred me to action. Prince Eric has expressed his forgiveness toward me and so has Count Max. If this entry changes such, I will not blame them and I will do my absolute best to make things right.

As many are aware Orathy Culler as been launching attacks me. I do not hold the Duchess accountable as I realize that she took Orathy in simply to protect him and was not aware of the attack and did condone such. Despite the insults being made against me, I will not hurt Orathy Culler. I will only fight him in self defense. I will not spar him. I will not challenge a commoner to a duel. I, in good faith, cannot challenge the Duchess Belladonna to a duel as her heart was in the right place. I still see Orathy Culler as a man loved by the gods and not ready for death. I still hold hope for him. I hope that he can hold such hope for me and cease his attacks.

I admit, that I do have some fear that a dishonorable sort of revenge will be taken upon my person by Orathy Culler. I would rather die with a knife in my back than to life without honor and so he remains safe from me with hope ahead of him.

~Two shapes fill the bulk of the page. They are made with stylized lines akin to some runes, worked into the likeness of the heads of a doe and a wolf. Beneath the drawing, separate from the entry, are the words 'We might die if we fight. We will die if we don't.'~

It is difficult to let something held cherished go to a likely end. It is harder still to participate. There is no picking and choosing in service though; the high notes or the shit, they both must be taken up with the same dedication.

We have talked more about Jayus, and of different things about weapons and crafting. She is quite intelligent, and a wonderful person to know. I do think she seems melancholy quite often, and I hope she smiles more.

Dear Me,

I may have met a demigod. I feel as though I should have come away from the experience with more wisdom than I did.

Also, the world is going to hell in a shavbasket.

More later. For now there must by brandy. And pie.

Alllll the pie.

Sweet Dreams, Me.

Me and the Princess had a long talk about the Spirits, and other various things. It was quite enlightening! As a scholar I like to learn, and Her Highness seems to like learning and exchanging knowledge as well.

I have spent some time at Coldrain Crafts recently to acquire two thank you presents for people whom I owed gratitude. I must say that Mistress Sameera makes some fantastic wares. And while my remarks about her work seem to make her uncomfortable, their quality is undeniable.

If I should find myself in need of jewelry into the future, I will certainly consider commissioning her to make it.

Perhaps the world is nothing more than reflections of self, that self is the only thing that truly exists. Gods, people, creatures, the sun and moon, stars above, the ground on the feet. Can you prove that once you are gone, that the world continues on? Or does the mirror of reality crack on death, and truth finally obtained? Mirrors, the doorways to eternity.

There's a young Lady out there, writing the most incredible whites I've read in a long time.

Unfortunately, she signs them all as 'me'.

If anyone can point me in the direction of this exquisite journal artiste, I'll be entirely in your debt.

I must know this person.

Dear Me,

I have met a jeweler and craftsperson and I believe Percy said she's the head of a guild or something of that nature but what /matters/ is she's /just/ delightful and has the most wonderful hair. Also she gave me a present.

I think we shall have the most fun together.

With Admiration,

Relationship Note on Percephon

Dear Me,

I do so love my cousin. He's very handsome and might be even smarter than I, which is ever so impressive. If there weren't that pesky consanguinity issue, I'm sure I would marry him. I cannot understand how the union of two brilliant, exceedingly attractive would people produces ugly imbeciles -- it's simply not mathematical -- but I accept this is the case. Therefore, a woman worthy of him must be found.

This brings me to the soul of my missive, dearest Me: it has lately come to my attention that some hideous cow has broken my cousin's heart. I hope she gets warts in unmentionable places and beetles crawl in her ears and no one ever loves her. Also that she sits on a fish... because... then I'd laugh at her. Whoever she is. If I see some wretched mimsy sit on a fish, I shall know her and SHE shall know my TERRIBLE VENGEANCE.

(You must remember: caution Percy not to reconcile in the event that the fish-sitter gets the warts I've wished upon her.)

I feel better now.

Dear Me,

Today I met the most horrible man. I saved him from certain death, but was he grateful? No. And my hat was ruined. The blue one with the demi-veil that goes so perfectly with my blue velvet riding habit. It was stepped on and I'm /quite/ sure it was he who did the stepping. Then he mocked it, my poor, ruined hat. Actually, I think he was mocking me by way of my hat, which only makes him more horrible. I gave him a piece of my mind (of which I have more than enough to spare, being prodigious of intellect, and he seemed to need rather badly). Did he thank me for /that?/ Of course not.

I hope seagulls poke him in the head.

I'm entirely out of sorts, now. I think I'll have a warm bath, some brandy, and find Percy. Tormenting Percy is always soothing.

Love and Admiration,

You always tell me that you are glad that I am on your side.
You say it like a thank you note. You say it like a prayer.
You say it like it was yesterday, and with more hope each and every time I hear it -

(As far as a memory, as near as dust on my skin)

I say, "It's okay." In truth I should say, "I don't know."
