Relationship Note on Reigna

Lady Reigna's work and aid in helping with the injured Lady Miranda will not be forgotten.
Perhaps I may need to refrain from delivering headbutts when sparring with my cousin in the future to avoid a repeat of this.
I'm sure Lady Reigna will agree.

I randomly browsed some whites and came upon your gem of information. I should offer to play at this wedding! Ah, Adora - I will mourn this loss but I will bear it, knowing that Adora, this sweet gentle soul of pure kindness, will be happy.

Singing Copper's song each evening has been an amazing thing, and once more I must thank Her Higness Sorrel for letting me perform it, to spread the message of Hope.

I've received a fair few suggestions on the last verse of my song, and today I will announce who the winner is. I'm quite pleased with the response to it, both the song itself and the competition to write the last verse which I thought of about two hours before the first concert. That skull pendant is quite fancy, I might have to make one for myself - you can wear two skull pendants, right? It's not too much? Maybe three, four... Like a whole band of them around the neck?

I mean, skulls do make for an amazing theme on jewelry!

I have lived through hard times. I have nearly starved to death. I have known thirst and the delirium of the heat. The numbness of the cold.

Life can seem--cheap, from all this. It can have no special meaning.

Yet, every fight that could have been my last I clawed and bit and stabbed sometimes to where I think I lost a bit of my soul, in all that violence. Bled from me, or chipped off like a battered stone.

But I have given up the road since Arx. Has much changed? I no longer worry on hunger or finding a bed. If I am cold, I make a fire. If I am too warm? Water is so readily available.

And yet; on the road I knew the full measure of the world.

Nothing was a mystery.

I had only to follow the first Law, which has kept me alive as long as I have traveled with a sword. These days, I feel as though I fall back on that way:

Life lives on life. There are eaters and the eaten.

I have tried to moralize about it since I have come to Arx and I've failed.

There is really no moral. That's all I am able to see. Kindness is transitory, like anger is transitory. Like sorrow and joy. Hope and despair. Coming and going, round and round like a wheel turning.

You will chase it. I will chase it.

Even if it is an uncertainty. We are helpless to the fact.

But survival? That is a certainty. That is ingrained in us, in the beast, damn--even plants have it.

In the end, I know how to survive and, above all else, I know what to do when my survival is threatened.

Another successful dinner, with those I am lucky enough to call both family and friends.

The matters we discussed were grim, but their resolve and willingness to help never ceases to amaze me.

House Blackram and our allies are strong.

Deputy Commander Calaudrin messaged me this morning telling me that he got the most unusual of wedding announcements. He wouldn't say who, so I am wildly guessing after skimming names among the White Journals.

Therefore, I'm assuming that it is Duke Arn Telmar and Mistress Adora from the Lowers. Congratulations to the both of them!

My cherished confidant has returned from his journey at last; and although, the other day he found me slightly troubled, and in a state that shows I haven't been resting quite well for some time now, he was most kind and understanding. He took care of a silly wound I got while plucking a rose -those disconcerting dreams have kept me fairly on edge; nonetheless, he provided me with a much-needed relief and solace. I'm so glad he's back, his presence alone is comforting during these troubled times.

It's been an up and down week. I have found myself restless over strange vivid dreams since the clocktower's collapse; and, most recently, what appeared to have been, and this is my guess, a vision. It's been troubling me for quite some time. I have decided to spend most of my time at the archives researching on both, personal and external, matters. I do hope to find some answers soon so I can get some peace and well needed sleep.

The goal of the dinners being auctioned off was to bring individuals of note and or infamy together and auction off chances for people to partake of a meal with them.

Admittedly, some of them are not Arvani and so I found that a caution was needed. When a handful of your invitee's state 'they had best not be boring or annoying or I can't promise no injuries" Well. It will be interesting meals no doubt.

But the game made of the mystery one has been something that I've enjoyed and a very good idea by the Lady Monique. Another stanza in the poem is released and some guesses have started to trickle in. But my big question as I watch over the ledgers that the bids are recorded in is who will win that prize.

And will they survive? Gods, I hope they survive. No, no, I'm sure they will.

Contracts are poetry. (Posterity, if it is bored, may decide if this stance makes me a romantic or aromantic.) They have form and meter, invent words at need, and convey the complex, intangible, and aspirational. They are truth, the expression of that most defining human trait: the freedom of exchange between two individuals. "I choose." "I will." "I commit." This is a contract's prose.

I've argued that Nilanza's House of Vows is our most beautiful building. I do not know art or architecture. It is beautiful because of the acts it sanctifies - those of free people making a committed choice.

In this last month, Arx's white journals, its grand gatherings, have been beautiful - dare I say poetic - too. Long may they, we remain so.
