I am so glad so many came out to celebrate what makes Redrain, well, Redrain! The second running of the Tankard Run was a smashing success. We had quite a few runners and watching them make their way up and down the course was thrilling. In the end, High Lord Victus Thrax took first place followed by Lord Rysen Crovane in second, and the third-place spot taken up by the impressive Lady Katya Grimhall. Lady Katya is one to watch out for! I've not seen such spirit in someone not of the northlands in some time.

Of course, I can't go without thanking those tireless people who lent their aid to this year's Taste of Arx--Lord Rysen, Lady Brianna, and my beloved sister, Helena. Each made such wonderful contributions to the event, be it a game or just showcasing their talent. But on top of that, there was also my favorite cousin Gwenna who lent her aid in the form of adorable cow plushies! I am truly blessed to have such wonderful family and friends within the fealty.

It is my fondest hope that everyone left with pleasant memories and perhaps a new friend or two made. Princess Sabella was wise to want to put this on again, for it is important to be reminded of what makes this Compact so special. I look forward to passing on the baton to someone else if there is to be a third Taste of Arx, it'll be nice to see what someone else can do.

Why is it that a woman can see from a distance what a man cannot see close?

Anyone who's pulled a drain knows what a whirlpool -normally- means. I am concerned, scholar. Very concerned.

So if there's a whirlpool - where's all that water going, Scholar?

Are we looking at the Lowers lifting up by a few hundred feet? I mean, we know scum rises, we've got plenty of proof of that right now, so I reckon it's about time the Boroughs looked out over the Wards.

Relationship Note on Victus

Cousin,

Based on your writing, I do not think crowds are your problem. Indeed, if memory serves, you have not historically required crowds for the inception of a hangover.

May I recommend a low, regular consumption of alcohol throughout the day as opposed to drinking your daily rations in a confined period of time? There is a mathematical formula that demonstrates decreased impact of an action if spread over time that I am happy to share with you, if you would like.

What to make for spring clothing. I might go with black... Or dark dark gray.

But I may actually go for something bright for a change.

Maybe something like Lessikins, she's kind after all - maybe I should take notes.

Now scholar, don't laugh.

I was in a arm wrestle contest last night. Against Lord Kritr.

Oh scholar! Stop laughing! It isn't that funny. I am positive I could win if I really put my heart into it. What do you mean? How did it end? It went as well as expected. I am sure he threw the last match since he did not budge when I put all my weight against him. It was very kind of him.

Oh scholar! Get up off the ground. Is it so comical to think I could win? Actually, don't answer that.

It's a whirlpool. I have heard suggestions it was some cunning trick of the Eurusi to block our response. And while I would love to believe the Eurusi are that stupid, sadly I doubt it is true. They know that we do have more than one port on our coast, that we have beaches from where troops and materiel can be embarked. I am also not sure why we think they have mastery over tides in such a way. They do indeed have different knowledge to us, advanced in some areas, but ultimately it is all futile as they fail to understand our greatest knowledge - our knowledge of the Gods and their divine nature, and the guidance they provide.

In short, what a bother, but we will overcome as we always do until nature takes its course.

Gods help me, I've had an idea for a party.

No, a series of parties. I've already set the wheels in motion, already chosen the color of the ink for the invitations. It is now just a matter of finding the right alchemist.

There is such strangeness in the world around us now. I suppose it was always there and there are those that would confirm that.

Just remember to be good to each other and to inspire a laugh or good feeling or two.

I've come to the conclusion that I don't enjoy crowds very much.

I am very hungover at the time of writing this, but I don't expect anything significant to change.

I do not often eat cake or cookies, but when I do, I eat them all and do not share.

No Scholar, I do not wish to make this one a Black Reflection. I want my sons to see why their mother does not indulge in sweets, and I must needs have a ready reminder for myself as to why I should feel guilty about it.

I do not, by the way, feel guilty about it.

My cakes at the event Sabella held were a success! Vegetable cake included. I was shocked to hear what she did with them, but delighted too; nothing was wasted!

The recipes that were presented are all for sale at my bakery in the Commons' courts. I will bake for most events and sometimes even funerals.

Rain. In the middle of winter. Whirlpools. I don't really have words for any of this right now. As much as I'm not the biggest fan of winter(I'm slowly getting there though), I prefer to keep at least the seasons a bit more normal.

A whirlpool. At the very mouth of the bay. Unbelievable! I've heard that Arx has had some odd winters over the last few years before my return, but gods, a whirlpool? The heavy rains were enough to keep Miri and I sheltering at the Auction House between our visits to the City Center, but this certainly puts a damper on many of my investments and deals, but it won't stop commerce. Even if I have to have things taken further down to other ports and cart it back through the mud and snow, things will continue apace. And without a change in my prices. I have plenty of silver to pay for good workers to handle the logistics and plenty more to keep costs as low as possible for those who depend upon my services to get them the goods they need.

I'm confident there will be some opportunity to be had by this, and if anyone finds themselves struggling, merchants, that is, I am happy to lend what aid I may. We must look after one another at times, even if we compete at the best of those times.
