Seasons changing, time to get out and speak with our neighbors.

The more that I settle into my role as Count of Caer Morien, the more I realise how much help and assistance I will be needing in progressing it forward. It is not a task to be achieved solely by myself.
There is a phrase 'No one is an island' that may apply here. Although perhaps 'No one is an Archipelago' may be more accurate here.
In any regards I shall be looking to others to work with me in establishing Magnotta and Caer Morien as names in the Compact.

I was honored to go on a mission with Lady Thea and her companions. We traveled through wood, rain, sunshine, cold.. Our purpose for our journey was to find the ever-elusive Sundraw! It is a beautiful plant that grows where the sun never shines. The flower holds it's own glow! Legend has it that when something very terrible happens in the lands, the flower drops it seeds. After traveling through a dark wood, crossed a deep chasm on a crumbling rope bridge, and fought off a pack of wolves, we found the flowers! There were only two. As we crouched before the flower, it gave up it's seeds for us. I am so very thankful to Lady Thea for allowing me to keep some of the seeds. Now, I will see if I can be successful in cultivating the Sundraw as I was the Suncatchers!

Rysen
Drysi just brought some white journals to my attention she thought I would either enjoy reading or should read. There were a couple from Rysen within the pile, both were surprising. One, because apparently there is some sort of.. competition or... disagreement or something between he and Alecstazi, something about love. He has a talent in writing poems, but perhaps I am too tired... it confused me a little. So I just wanted to say that love can exist within a union. It's not supposed to be the sole reason, amongst most nobles, that we marry, but when it so happens to benefit both houses in ways that are agreeable to the heads of each house, well, it just makes the marriage that much more beneficial to all parties.
Halfshav is incredibly happy to be allied with Thrax.
Aside from Victus nearly accidentally killing my brother. (High Lord, perhaps next time someone suggests you put your sword away during a snowball fight, perhaps consider that option a little more... please.) Thankfully, Arik will be okay. He has survived far worse. Can you imagine the embarrassment he would feel in the Shining Lands if he, our House Sword, had to tell the other souls there that he died during a lethal... snow ball fight? So glad that is not a risk at this time. I ould hear it now... everytime I went to visit, I'd hear, "oh! You are HIS sister? The guy that died in a snowball fight? I am so sorry... are you okay?"
But, I am rambling....
Anyway, Arik is fine, Bri and Alecstazi are wed, we are allies with Thrax and all is good.
But then, I also saw a journal Rysen wrote about my appearance at the Taste of Arx Ball at the Palace. His words in that entry made me grin, the way he spoke of my manner of dress that evening. Be careful, Lord Rysen, or people might think I can be civilized and blend in with the more formal sorts from the peerage. I say this with joy, because it made me giggle. The gown is one I do not wear too often, as it is very warm, made for the winter months (Designed by none other than Morrighan, a tailor I am thrilled to work with when I am able to sneak away some of her free time to do so), but what better place to represent my heritage than the Taste of Arx?
Then he said that it also "possessed all the warmth of a Spring morning in the sunlight" which... well, if anyone knows how much I love spring, they know how much it thrilled me to hear that.
I too enjoyed our conversation, Rysen, and look forward to more like it in the future.

More troubles drifting from every corners. Beasts to the north, a whirlpool, and rumblings of islands. I should pay attention to the today, but the past still has so much fascination. A cataclysm of fire that sundered and entire continent. Rebellions in fire in ancient lands. Such fascinating events to try and turn up information to.

Scholar. I had an accident. wait, what do you mean another one? Are you calling me clumsy scholar? No scholar. I stumbled out of bed this morning and while readying myself for the the day, I accidentally trod on Mr Snuffles. No scholar! That's Not a code name for some lover. Mr Snuffles is my hedgehog that eased their slumber early.
Scholar! Do you know how much a spike to the foot hurts? It's dreadful. I informed a friend and they were so concerned about me hurting Mr Snuffles that they forgot to ask how my foot was.
Oh scholar shut up. It isn't that funny.

Got tired enough of stepping in mud and worse down in the Lowers with all the runoff. Got myself a new pair of boot covers, much easier to clean and it keeps the crud out of the boots too. Should have got some years ago.

My shop has turned into an interesting place to be, it seems. People come and go, browsing the donated wares. Though, it bothers me when nobility comes in and buys out the place. I know it shouldn't. Their silver is just as good as anyone else's, but the intention of my shop is so that the people of the lowers have access to affordable clothing.

Magnotta Manor, finally, is now properly supplied and ready for purpose as my home in the City after several years of being unused.
I have spent several hours just walking through the Manor, looking at the details and inspiration that has?come from the Cyrto Arch and I look forward to properly sailing back to Caer Morien to settle in there as well.

Spring is here, and that means my dreaded enemy Summer is only three months away. I cannot believe that I must this ruthless enemy again so soon. I should have found a way to keep a bunch of snow stored, so I can use as a shield against Summer. The only positive thing about this summer is that I will not have to suffer it alone.

Since my return to Arx from my home in Cloudspine, it was a stark reminder of how busy things can be and how different life here is compared to back home. I have spent quite a bit of time reading, from reports of what has been happening in the realm, to texts of important theories of the... challenges we are and will be facing in our lives.
With each passing day, I feel I am more up to the challenge that will be facing me as I am on the path of helping my sister strengthening our House. It seems like she feels the same because during our family dinner this week, she announced that she was appointing me as House Sword. This was not something I had expected when I returned to Arx, especially not this soon, but with the encouragement from others and the stern words of my cousin, Cerys, I agreed in the end. The weight of responsibility grows heavier but I will be able to handle it, I have to.

Apollo
Grandmaster Apollo certainly has a remarkable sense of humor, as well as knows exquisite artists, as one would expect.
Now I need to find a way to respond to this gentle teasing in kind. Perhaps a bucket of horse manure.

So attending my cousins wedding reception brought to mind the last wedding reception I was able to attend with The Wife this past winter. I never suspected her capable of such snowball treachery as to go to war with me directly! This reminds me, I still owe her, even if she did give me such a fine son. Regardless, the primary lesson to learn is, all is fair in love and war. Not to mention it is all fun and games until a high lord throws a sword.

I readily confess to having a soft spot for intelligent bookworms; my response is all the warmer when such people are met unexpectedly, and hail from places I might not have anticipated. This particular individual seems to be both charming and intriguing, and I very much hope to have the opportunity to learn where her own researches might have taken her.
