The Voice of Thrax, and an intelligent, lovely woman. She's something of a surprise to me, though, I suppose she should not be. She will be an interesting challenge I think, and I look forward to seeing if we will be friends or rivals.

Today, I watched a child in the market. She seemed terribly happy to have her bit of bread. She lacked for everything else, but for family, and it made her appreciate her tiny bit of bread all the more. Is this the nature of gratitude? That we most appreciate only when we have lost, or never had? I fear it. None the less, I could not look away. It was only when she'd frozen in fright, half way through eating her bread so uncouthly that I realized I'd stared too intently. Perhaps she thought I thought her a thief. Perhaps she was.

Relationship Note on Valencia
Cousin Valencia is sorely missed. She is utterly vivacious, and the North is richer for her there. I still have designs to steal her back, but she actually seems happy amongst the savages. Hopefully we won't find ourselves at too many odds, and can help each other with political endeavors.

Relationship Note on Bliss
The Delightful Champion of the Whisper House, Bliss impressed me instantly, with her ability to adapt to changing situations during events. I find her absolutely delightful, and definitely intend to keep her close. We're of like minds, she and I, and I think we'll be famous friends and companions.

Relationship Note on Kieran
A crass, but amusing Northern Prince, Kieran responds well to lowbrow humor. He, however, has the extremely bad manners to be utterly gauche and go for the obvious 'bump and grab." I'm not sure what's more offensive, that he actually put his hand on my rear without permission, or that he was so... lowbrow in his manner of doing so.

Since arrival, I've had the 'pleasure' of wandering amongst many people of varying culture and taste. The one thing that stands out to me is how for all their posturing, they all sure act alike.

Relationship Note on Dagon
An interesting man and the heir apparent of House Thrax. I met him once or twice, and he seemed like quite the man of esteem and surprising warmth. I doubt he'd ever truly notice me, but maybe one day even the highest nobles in all of Arvum will invite me to their distinguished balls. I can dream, at least.

Relationship Note on Fergus
I made a terrible mistake in mocking him about the peace knot on his sword. However, after giving him my apologies, we were able to restart our relationship. One thing led to another, and now he's one of my patrons! A veteran of many battles and the wielder of the legendary sword Demonslayer, I am overjoyed we could fix what I broke and result in such a pleasant association.

Relationship Note on Mirari
My beautiful, clever, compassionate tutor in the arts of the courtesan. I know I have much to learn, and I can only hope to make her proud. Prince Aurelian Valardian pointed her out to me, but I feel blessed to have met such a wonderful person. I can barely wait to learn more about the intricacies of courtesan interactions, what Arvum expects of us, and how to truly establish myself.

Relationship Note on Talen
Talen Artiglio, the Sword of Lenosia, is House Velenosa's trusted Sword and go-to man for anything it seems. He is intelligent and quite capable, and someone I have grown rather fond of within the short time I have spent with my new family. He is a good man to be able to count on in times of uncertainty.

Always chose the right tool.. Corroborating information is difficult enough as it is.. Remember to send a thank you letter and perhaps a gift to Duchess Esera and Princess Isolde for their constant hospitality. To be indebted to another house is an unfortunate disgrace on House Grayson, and the Inquisition. Not that I'm particuarly bitter about it. I much rather be amongst civilized company than the vast majority of people I normally have to interact with.. though at least with them I never worry if they are genuine.. becuase if they arn't, they won't be people anymore when I finish with them.

This Redrain Prince is interesting. While I do not know him well, he clearly is an enigma I wish to learn more about. I met him during Esera's moonlight social, sitting alone with a rather distasteful expression after drinking a glass of wine. While I can't account for his poor taste in libations, I provided him with whiskey and my company, hoping to smooth over any acts of war which may have been aroused by his utter dismissal of Lyceum wine. No declarations have been made yet.

Relationship Note on Luca
Prince Luca is charming, though it would take a great many words and glasses of wine to put my finger on exactly why that is. He's lazy and unmotivated and in dire need of a haircut. He's also funny without being obnoxious, something many southern men are entirely inept at - 'suave' is a dying art in the Lyceum. His offering of his arm to Talen at the recent party (I'll talk more about that later) was the second most amusing moment of the evening.

I arrived in Arx this week, pretty well uncertain how to proceed from there. My limited understanding of my current circumstance is that I'm to keep my head down, not cause trouble, and only then see, within the previously determined framework, if there is something further I can do to help our fortunes. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it. I wandered about a bit yesterday, eventually coming into the Ambassador's Salon along Lord's Lane. There, I met briefly with Her Highness, Princess Jaenelle, and Talen, the Sword of Lenosia. Conversation was pleasant, as one must expect. I resolved to try to see more of Arx. I've visited here before, but this particular stay promises to be an extended one.

The social obligations of being a Sword had begun to set in for Talen a few weeks following his arrival in Arx; the masquerades, balls and gatherings that were hosted by Great Houses across the city luring him in by extension of his duties. At the heart of Arvum, this is where the answers for the tragedies of King's Rest would be found. This is where he would uncover any lurking clues for his liege lady, the Grand Duchess of Lyceum, and this is where he would help his family take strict vengeance on those who dared strike against them.

Relationship Note on Mirari
Indentured courtesan of House Pravus, mistress Mirari Corsetina was on retainer in the service of her liege ladies and travelled to Arx following the tragedies of the King's Rest. Having met the woman on but a handful of occasions, it seemed that the Sword of Lenosia had little evidence to really praise her work. There was a great deal of interest in seeing that through, to be proven wrong, but it had not yet come to pass.

Relationship Note on Bliss
Champion Bliss Whisper, a woman met upon the dance floor at a moonlit social gathering hosted by the Great House of Velenosa. Yes, indeed, she was both a defender of honour and refined paragon of entertainment. Talen's interest in the woman was born that night, not least because of her every talent fell in line with the high standards found in the southern provinces of the Lyceum. It remained then that she would be a fine contact to approach should Talen ever have need of a quality individual to serve the purposes of the Grand Duchess and her family.

Relationship Note on Luca
One might have considered Prince Luca a layabout, shirking his duty and avoiding the responsibilities he should otherwise embrace. Talen, however, had a certain degree of sympathy for the unfortunate plight of the man. With the Sword of Lenosia's own penchant for a challenge, there's appreciation for his highness' boredom. It remained then, that Talen would go out of his way to assist the nobleman's sister, her highness Princess Ophelia, in her antics to encourage life into her sibling.

Flighty at best, Princess Ophelia Velenosa was nevertheless one of those members of the family that Talen kept his eye on with keen interest. Should her highness choose to dive into trouble without a look askance, the Sword certainly thought it his duty to be present so he could intervene accordingly... and if nothing would curb her whims, at least take part.

Relationship Note on Alarissa
Princess Alarissa Valardin nee Grayson, the epitome of a princess from fairy tales of old. In truth, Talen's first impressions of her highness were rather bluntly presented, the stereotype of a maiden such a bore to a man of the Lyceum provinces. In time, however, he came to the understanding that rather than push aside the opportunities to converse with those he deemed stiff collared, he should instead learn from them. To that very same end then, Talen sought to meet and greet with ones such as the princess with greater patience for their cultural differences.
