Visions like confections in the night, formed from all around us.
I, for one, cannot be bothered to be contrary.
Journey far and wide
And upon the septumnal oceans.
All of us seek that which we are.

Occasionally those might take advantage.
Others look for the cruelty upon them.
And still, those desire to use the lash and chain.
And their reflection seek it for themselves.

- Some days I think wiser words have never been spoken.

Mistress Myrinda and my brother are apparently feuding over his unexpected promotion to Assistant Guildmaster within the Crafters Guild. I am glad it did not devolve into an actual duel, and I suggest we entrust Mistress Joscelin with the delegation of the Crafters Guild: it does not speak well of us if we vote her in just to cause a riot when she makes a decision someone disagrees with.

In other news, let it be known that Count Max Darkwater seems fond of Mercier wines. I also enjoy his stick figure drawings.

A warm fire.

An expansive view.

A handful of beautiful woman.

A drunken friend barging in.

Who says I need to be on the sea to feel like I'm in the navy?

Lagoma, of change and rebirth, with your unflinching hands, you guide each of us to our winter. Our quiet. Our final breath. This is not a punishment, but a gift. For only in winter can spring be born. Only in death can we pass through the final Reflection, and the worthy among us find peace in the realms beyond.

Sadeletto, my brother, I pray that you have found your rest, hard-won and well-deserved. I hope you find Mother, Father, and the twins there. I hope you knew how proud you should be of your son and your daughter.

I hope that--I hope.

I hope.

He deserves volumes, but I am still numb and I can't find the words.

Baron Sadoletto Saik was a good and wise man. Let it be remembered that his people loved him. Let it be remembered that he was a third son who rose to occasion when the title fell to him. Let it be remembered that he was studied, kind-hearted, and loved his people, that he took joy in life and discovery. Let it be remembered that he laughed and loved to teach.

Let him be remembered.

Let me be even half the man he has been.

So we had this little get together where all the military leaders here in Arx got together and... introduced ourselves. Well thats as far as I got before I decided I needed a nap. They did talk about maybe getting troops from other areas together to learn from each other, so I guess if any southern lords want to come north and freeze their asses off and fight crazy tribesman, well I'll treat them to it. They'd better just hope they don't freeze, some of the Shav's are known to like their southern meat well frozen.

Relationship Note on Myrinda

Arx may be terrifyingly isolated, the outside roads littered with corpses, and my mother will still pick fearlessly extended, public fights to everyone's delight (I hope). She's fierce and certain and there's real strength in that, even if it's put to use for clothing, defending her honor. She needs no defense, really, but I can draw some wicked caricatures in her name if nothing else.

Relationship Note on Myrinda

Mistress Myrinda, yours and Master Lazarus' entries have been a most interesting read during my tasks of transcription as a disciple of Vellichor. It brings a smile to know you're as spirited and unapologetically, uniquely yourself, despite recent events.

Recent life lesson, recorded in the event it slips my mind: Don't have any expectations. Then you'll never be disappointed, and only occasionally pleasantly surprised. DON'T FORGET.

For those that are confused, let me explain to you what Guildmaster Joscelin's intention was when she made me her voice. There are two voices in the guild, Assistant Guildmaster Ida who represents the crafter's block and I, Assistant Guildmaster Lazarus who represents the merchants' block. That does not mean that a crafter from the guild can not come to me requesting aid. On the contrary, any member of the guild has my complete dedication should they want it. What my position allows is for merchants to voice their opinion and concerns. Merchants who sale the crafters' ware. Merchants who close deals to ensure that the crafters' goods make it to their clients and their goods' worth is not hinder by court's politics because it is protected by the city's top merchants. Crafters are the river's water and salmon, merchants are the current.

This journal entry is a stick-figure image of Maximilian, (Denoted by the pirate hat and a wine-glass in one hand) watching Lazarus (An angry 'male' stickfigure, with #@!$! as his dialog, labeled as 'L') and Myrinda (A female stickfigure, arms crossed and a frowny face labeled as 'M') as they argue back and forth, by throwing books at one another.

The Caption reads: "And they said this city was boring..."

I am not going to waste my time with dueling Myrinda. Etiquette suggest that I am in the wrong should I reject it. Ok Myrinda, you are right and I apologies. You are not a hag and your clothing is not trash. Congrats, you won. Won what? Not sure.

It seems that Lazarus Mercier is a coward who isn't willing to defend his words. Thus, he knows that he is wrong.

Never let it be said that Myrinda Grayhope is a criminal nor that my clothing is anything but top quality.

My response to Myrinda's challenge;

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH HAHAHAHAH HAHAHAHA HAHAHAHA HAHAHAHA.

To accept your challenge is to admit that you are worthy of the duel. Which you are not so go home. In response to Thrax wearing your crap; they're Thrax, they can wear whatever they want and I am pretty sure they do not care about my opinion. If they did I would recommend various other crafters who are better verse in the craft.

Relationship Note on Donrai

The Thraxian High Lord Donrai himself, with his twenty different titles that I can't name off the top of my head, wore /my/ work to the Assembly of Peers.

So, Lazarus, it appears that you know nothing, hm? You will also answer for calling my work trash! I do formally challenge you to a duel. For both implying that I am a criminal and calling my work trash. Choose your champion and I will choose mine, and we will settle this.

If maybe Myrinda was clearer in her journal entries we would know what the witch wanted. To think that being blacklisted from her store affects me the slightest is comical. I would not be caught dead wearing her clown outfits. You will pay your dues, like I pay my dues, one way or another if you wish the support of the Guild. That is our responsibility as members. No one can tell you who to trade with or whom not to. If you wish to open your stores and even offer discounts to Lord Victus then that is your inalienable right and I would continue to do my part to ensure that right is not taken away from you. My job and my goal is a free market unhindered by the politics of court. Now, I know a thing or two about the Thrax and they do not wear your trash. Stop wasting my time.

Relationship Note on Lazarus

Child, I do not know who taught you to read, but never once did I wish for a position of prominence in the guild. I have my own patron; I see to my own needs; I have never asked anyone for anything.

I do not need the nonsense that comes with the guild nor a high position in it. Nor do I need your nonsense. I won't pay dues to any guild that has a child like yourself high in the organization, who thinks he knows anything about what it's like to be a /true/ crafter.

For that matter, consider yourself banned from my shop.

For that matter, consider Lord Victus' ban lifted. I invite the bastard lord, actually, to come seek me out for some heavily discounted bit of clothing. Whatever he would like. If Joscelin will work with someone so closely who hates me so, then I shall do the same!

Relationship Note on Orazio

Well. The Archlector who got up and invoked the invocation- heh- I wondered why he looked so damned familiar. Orazio Saik. Or was a Saik. We knew one another back home; he was a good soldier but his heart wasn't in it. Not surprised he's following Sentinel. He was pretty vocal about the Tee-Ess war and how it was stupid as fuck. Not that I disagreed...

Remind me to look him up. All this weird shit reminds me of something he should know- as a follower of Sentinel and all.
