I do not know the woman as well as I would perhaps like to. Nonetheless, she's earned a certain level of respect from me over the years. I mean, not only has she saved my life (that's just something a person can't forget, no matter what shrugged explanations about 'job' are made), but her words written for the archives often make me smile or nod in agreement.
I often just skim through journals Drysi brings me in the mornings, not looking at who wrote it unless the words pique my interest. Many of hers do.

I've been so busy these days!
The school works well, but they are difficult... I really need someone to help me teach better.
And then, there are all the projects in the future!
We have been working with the gas I found out and I hope to get any result soon. And we are going to be working with the plants and I really have big hopes on that. I'll be really disappointed if it doesn't work. It has to!
Also, there is all this enemy coming... And it's really scary.
Those who are going to go to fight, be careful, please.
(And remember, if you may find it useful, I can make smoke bombs for you.)

Attended an event over at the Murder of Crows last evening with Eleanor, met up with the Lord Commander, was defeated at darts by Princess Reese Grayson, and drunk the most godsawful sweet concoction of booze that has ever been inflicted on the city. Agnarr was also there, and on a drunken whim I asked to braid his beard. He was most obliging.

Took a meeting today. It was not my normal area of expertise and there were many present, so I did my best to just listen and take notes. Most of it isn't for these pages, but some giant of a man wandered in to play with the piano. That is something, I would note for the record, as I am something around six and a half feet in height, so for such a man to exist to make me feel short is worth notation.
He seemed confused, and I don't wonder if he may have been drunk. Some suggested he was disruptive, one asked him to go, and another said he could stay. Still, a very fair lady seemed to jam his hands some, and so he got up and left after he regained his senses.
I thought it would be the most peculiar thing in my day until I heard the story of the fifth man. I will ponder that one for a time.

It is unfortunate that there are some who would cast judgment upon an entire race based on the aberrations that spawned from them, as if humanity could claim purity. When we seek to see the worst in a soul, what we truly are seeing is the corruption reflected back and twisting our view.
While, yes, an elven lord enslaved friend and family alike to the Abyss far away in time the majority have forgotten does not mean the sylv'afar, nox'alfar, marin'alfar or others are all abhorrent and plotting to destroy the world. They are similar to you with aspirations and dreams to be better than they are, they struggle with dark passions that threaten to control them if they give in. They bleed, they are born, they die although some seem to live far longer than you will ever naturally live.
Look to others as you would look to yourself, find allies and friends. Unify, for without unity, hope cannot spread to the far corners of the world no matter how hard you desire. Disunity is a tool of the enemy.
Just as there are many gods that the light passes through upon the altar stone of our soul to illuminate it in a myriad of colors, so too we should celebrate the wide diversity of those who share with us the dream.

It drains a High Lord to be cooped up all day, scouring over plans and reading documents, and signing his name. It drains a High Lord of the Northlands even more. I think half my cousins made a concerted effort to get me out of the house today, and I really appreciate them for it. In even the darkest times, family is everything.
