To note, Torstein is being annoying with his still needing to do the touching thing with me. It is not horrible, I suppose, just rather irritating. He is more difficult than the king. I didn't think it was possible.
What is it with people and this affection shit?
Also, apparently, there is some sort of expectation that I contact family members on the regular. Seems silly to me. If they need something from me, they know how to contact me.

Hey,
so, just a couple days have gone by since I arrived in the city from Caith. I heard some people I know are here, which is pretty great. Family set me up with a place to stay when I'm in port. Once I get a moment I have to go find some good booze and pick up some books. Suppose I ought to pick up some clothing more attuned to this city over just whatever the whim takes me to wear. All the tailors I know are back in Caith. wonder if I can get a good one to contact me. Or would a leatherworker be good? Hell if I know. I'll just leave that one alone and, perhaps, at a later date put more effort into it besides just mentioning in passing to people.

Our troops are raised. The Blackram and their vassals have committed just over half of their soldiers to our campaign against the Pirate King and Telmar has pledged the same to our liege, the Great House Valardin.

A lot of crap has been going on...but at least its provided a laugh a laugh for the most part.
I decided to do a gala and a silent auction for my people at the Society of Explorers. And do I get in return? A challenge. It should be a fun time for all. There will a be a feast prior to it and hey...maybe people will learn about BOTH fundraisers in the process. My handsome Caspian will be fighting on my behalf against my dear cousin Luca.
It seems like yesterday was the day of challenges. After Princess Tikva issued hers....it just snowballed and they were just just rolling in. Needless to say....there will be lot of entertainment in the city. And hey...some people could use the entertainment in these times.

I have been spending my days in Arx delivering bad news to family who survive the dead of Ruby Company. It has been rough and I admit that I've found myself in a tavern every night so far. But I have also met many wonderful people and seen some beautiful places. Next week I am likely to begin training replacements for the Company. There are so few of us now. I worry for what is coming ahead with so few of us left. Will I have time to train enough to make a difference? The Lord General has faith in me so I must have faith in myself.
