I find myself oddly grateful for this impending doom lingering off the coast as I see those who are usually distracted by their differences, putting them aside to work together.
When we come back from this mission, and we will come back from it, I hope they can remember that these people who they distrusted because they believe different things, or live differently or were born in a different place, had their backs, and their sides, and spilt blood along side of them and that they are forever tied to each other for that.
If that can be carried over from the fray, we will have one two victories.

Open rebellion in the Lyceum! How bold for a Count to laugh in the face of what an Archduchess declares! What will happen next? Poisoned goblets? Sinister messages delivered by darkly hooded men? It seems to me that there must be mercy with judgement--but for mercy to exist, there must first be judgement. How do we show compassion to the excommunicate? If we leave them to die, aren't we denying them the chance for repentance? But if we act like nothing's happened, then it's like their judgment doesn't matter.

The words of House Amadeo are 'Loyalty knows no bounds'. Loyalty cuts both ways. The apostate Abbas nee Thrax did show loyalty to my House and liege in dealing with the traitorous Houses of Argento and Malgentilega.
I will not comment on whether his exile or excommunication are appropriate. These are not for me to decide, and I have no opinion of them.
But I know that whatever his transgressions before the Gods and man, and whatever shade or hue of political paint surround recent decisions, he has no enemies here.
House Amadeo has a brief, but proud, history of taking in orphans and so opens its doors now to the orphaned Abbas.
