Those who would cry foul of being called upon to answer for their "appearance of insubordination" should know that to bring the issue to light in private, without punishment, and to include one's direct liege is a proper and merciful courtesy. It is not shaming, it is guiding and it is what leaders do when they wish to keep matters grounded, rather than escalate them needlessly.
It is therefore my only assumption that Count Duarte Amadeo is apologising for being the one who was in truth too hasty, that he was afforded the opportunity to explain himself and failed to do so, and that any social faux pas is his alone to learn from.

If my stuff can't go to my wife, it can all go to Sparte Fatchworth.
I request that someone find Dame Thena Grayhope and dramatically insist until she's very very angry and annoyed that I wrote an iron clad will making all of my things her things. Even if she knows that's not possible because she read this entry.

Failure to write sooner due to my thumbs being in many pies, as promised. I had no desire to drag blackberry across the pages, but I'm wondering if it would make a decent ink. Prettier, at least.
The amount of duties being heaped upon me are growing exponentially. I am steadily trying to avoid the realization that I will be left behind by my brother sister...and in charge, to add salt to the wound. I think I am beginning to understand why so many are grasping at last-minute relationships. Facing this alone is a little daunting.
That being said--no in advance. I enjoy my solitary lifestyle.

There seems to be, quite within reason, a good deal of journals these past few days written to, or for, loved ones. Whether it comes from the one departing, or is the one that must stay behind - sometimes even from those travelling together or travelling apart! I, too, have loved ones leaving Arx for the fight, but they are my relatives and so the sort of love I am referring to does not apply here.
While I of course pray that my family returns home safe and sound, and send with them all my well-wishes and hopes, the intent of this journal is for a rumination on love, and what I might say were I in the no doubt heart-wrenching position of so many men and women:
I do understand that you can look into someone's eyes, and suddenly know that life will be impossible without them. Know that their voice can make your heart miss a beat and that their company is all your happiness can ever desire and that their absence will leave your soul alone, bereft and lost.

I am very happy to announce I have taken Laric Grayson, Master of Questions and Prince of Grayson, as my patron.
The Master of Questions has proven to have a good eye for art and a very accepting taste. I also believe he'll be supportive of me - in encouraging me, in defending my works, in tracking down art thieves. I do hope I'll be able to patronize Laric for years to come.

As for my will? I don't own much. Make sure someone gets some use out of the armor I leave behind, cause I ain't planning on leaving much armor on me when I'm gone. Make sure Eventide makes it back to Farshaw. And if Duskblade's in one piece? Find some knight that's new and needs it and make sure it has a good home.

I have returned to Arx after a few months of visting my family. Perhaps I should have stayed to lend my aid long with the physicians, but the time away gave me pause to meditate on previous encounters that took place during my first arrival in this land.
I feel as if I were a brightly colored fish trapped in a moat of alligators. The clear water only allowing my vibrancy of colors to shine ever brighter for all to see. - Oh that is wildly dramatic, Isidora!
Still, I am sorely embarrassed when pondering over some moments of the past. If only ill memories could fade as quickly as the mists of dawn.

With Whisper Wilhelm no longer using it, I have been steadily working on turning Whispered Secrets into a place I can call my own. I'm renaming the shop to Fixations, which seems appropriate as a selling point on scents, on Whisper trade, and a nod to the alchemical processes that are used in my greatest trade. When the war efforts are over, I'll see it properly stocked.
