Little sister brag.

My brother is awesome. Even if he does cheat at sledding.

I /am/ back! Just like Mayir says!

My trip was really nice. The completion of the Great Road made it way easier and allotted me the ability to travel to many of the territories within the Crownlands. I found a lot of interesting ingredients and amazing recipes and I even have my own take on a more traditional Crownland treat that I've brought back with me. I call them Love Knots (as Mayir was so kind to mention too!). I also learned about forty new ways to cook a rabbit.

I'm sad I didn't get to continue North like I had originally planned, but the small group of merchants I traveled with didn't feel comfortable going on with all the crazy skirmishes happening as of late. So it was time to turn tail and head home. It was a good trip and I hope to make another. Our world is a breathtaking cacophony of different smells and flavors and I plan to try every one and hopefully bring some of them back with me to Arx. Even those stinky Oathland cheeses.

I'd wondered time and again whether Lenosia Red would maintain its allure once the embargo was lifted and it ran red through the routes of the Lyceum once more.

The answer is a resounding 'yes'. It is still every bit as sweet and powerful as the many creatures and comforts that hail from lovely Lenosia.

Relationship Note on Raimon

I wouldn't begrudge someone martial pursuits. It hones the body, keeps it healthy. In the simplest terms. If one were to take up painting as a hobby, but not become a master painter, I wouldn't fault them for this either. Taking up a sword and learning to defend oneself is a fine endeavor, whether for exercise or peace of mind.

But when it comes to the act of killing -- they will have to decide if they're capable of that or not and face the consequences. It isn't for us to say. I was born to become a farmer and chose to become a swordsman and looking back on it I'd say honestly that I'm unsure if I had the character for the life or not. Yet -- here I am.

Why do so many seek to be warriors, despite not having the character of such?

I touched base with someone I haven't spoken to or spent time with in earnest in months the other night.

Fate and nature have odd quirks of humor in the ways they toy with my recognition of patterns. Perhaps it is because I am a shaman that I am so conscious of the way smaller things too are Reflected and not just the gods. Perhaps it is my penchant to find a place between the dark and light reflections that brings so many to the fore of my notice.

A light horse. A dark horse. A team that exists in opposition and reflections as much as reality. And yet still, I find myself garbed in awe like robes to surround me.

Relationship Note on Sparte

Given a task of humility, Sparte Fatchforth has performed it with grace and with dignity, without complaint. His penance is concluded in accordance with the laws of the Church and he is forgiven the trespasses that brought him to this point. I believe his penitence is more than a simple rejection of his flawed past choices, but instead, a renewal of his path, with a demonstrated willingness to seek correction from the Faith when he has erred.

It is with compassion and hope that I welcome him back to the grace of the Faith.

Relationship Note on Victus

I feel like I am almost honor-bound to forge sea serpent hairpins for Princess Astrid. If I've not gone to the Wheel, and Your Grace still trusts such work to me, I would consider myself a very lucky smith to be asked to forge such a thing for her when she's ready. Thank you again for your humbling regard for my work.

Abominable stuff that falls from the sky. Things ache, there is no surcease in the chatter from the vault. I finally have a break from the fever that plauged me. Winter. I am thinking of enduring a journey by boat back to Lenosia. Or giving in to Demetria and her constant nattering to go to darkwater and that pond or well they have.

Relationship Note on Delilah

The harvest moon to my winter moon, an equinox to my solstice.

I could become lost in metaphor but let this footnote be simply thus; that I cherish each moment allowed in the occultation of the duchess's presence.

A true and gracious companion in the pursuit of starry mystery.

This knight is ever humbled and grateful.

To the lady Lucita and all those who aided in the cleansing of Saikland, I thank you for your toil and resolve to ensure the safety of Arvum and maintaining the prosperity of the good Baroness' lands. It was an honour to offer you what aid - as little as it was - I could in your endeavour. You are all heroes of the realm.

The result of the duel had nothing to do with your age, but rather the judgment of the gods upon the one for whom you fought, nor does it diminish the glory you've earned with your courage and skill. Thank you for taking the field on my behalf, Lady Brianna.

Relationship Note on Harald

I have heard the phrase "labor of love" many times before, but until now I don't think I ever really understood its meaning. With the Harald Grimhall Naval Academy now open and the first classes getting ready to begin, I do now. This school will mean a great deal to the future of my people, and more personally, serve as a testament to my father's legacy. I am certain he would have been proud to see it, and he deserves it, having taught many among my generation of nobles about our tradition of naval excellence, not just his own sons. My satisfaction in seeing it done is immense.

There are many people who deserve recognition for this. Duchess Vanora Grimhall, Countess Carita Darkwater, Lady Katya Grimhall, Lord Erik Grimhall, Count Turo Navegant, Baroness Lucita Saik, and Baron Edward Stormbreak all played important parts in this project, and have my gratitude as not just a Duke, but as a son seeking to honor his father.

The Academy of War deserves special thanks, though. This idea took root when my father still lived, right after I joined that organization, as a result of a conversation with the head of it at the time, Marquis Kael Keaton. And once we were ready to break ground, Natalia Whisper worked hard on their behalf to assist us in getting it constructed and finding instructors. I look forward to seeing what comes of the students sponsored by the Academy of War who will be coming to us for education in naval tactics and strategies.

There is that duel over with. It seems that all concerned comported themselves with honour and dignity.

The Champions fought well, honouring Gloria and those they fought for.

It seems perhaps strange to say, but I cannot imagine any less.
