Soft, ambient music plays from a balcony overhead as guests filter into the Great Gray Hall, which has been decorated in a celebration of green and silver. Attendants approach attendees, taking coats and announcing them to someone with a list nearby. Farther in, Princess Keely Grayson, dressed from head to toe in her House colors, greets each person with warm smiles and soft words before inviting them to indulge in the feast and choose a seat among the richly-decorated tables that form a horseshoe around the dance floor.

At the head of the dance floor is a raised platform swathed in more greens, grays, and silvers, with seats where Highlord Liara Grayson is joined by her Voices, Prince Aindre Grayson and Princess Lou Grayson. Plenty of time is dedicated to allowing everyone to visit the feast and make plates, collect drinks, and return to their seats in time for the awards ceremony to begin.

When it is time, Keely steps up onto the platform, offering smiles and murmurs to her cousins and sister, before stepping up to the center front. She attempts to lift her voice, but it is not a voice meant for commanding attention and so she carefully taps the side of a spoon (which she may be carrying for just this purpose) against the side of her champagne flute to quiet the conversation. "Good evening, everyone, and welcome to our celebration of victory, of thanks, and of remembrance," she says, lifting her gentle voice as far as it will go to address the room. There is a touch of nerves to her rosy-cheeked smile, and a subtle waver to her words, but she carries on. "We hope you are enjoying the feast, and that you do not neglect the dessert table. Tonight, there will be a presentation of awards, followed by a performance by the resplendent Nightingale Gianna Delveccio, after which we will open the dance floor and commence with the social portion of the evening. Thank you all for coming, and without further ado, I am honored to introduce Highlord Liara Grayson." She pockets her spoon and lightly applauds her gloved fingertips against the heel of her hand as she takes a pace back and turns, smiling fondly at Liara. Another pace back and turn has her approaching the stairs off the platform, which she descends with assistance from a guard stationed there as well as her assistant helping her navigate the train of her ballgown, before she swiftly crosses the dance floor and takes a seat at the badger table beside Mattheu.

Monique has joined the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Nina has joined the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Tarik has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Tarik has joined the a round table with inset amber and glass badgers.

Liara stands quietly the proceedings are introduced, her gaze turning over the people assembled. She waits, gloved hands clasped neatly together, until it comes to her time to speak. Her own voice is powerful and carries easily, words clear and crisp.

"The valour and skill of a number gathered here, and indeed of a number who are not, in the face of a most fell assault, saved the lives of thousands of my people. They cleared the way for the reclamation of the city from our foe, their talent and ingenuity saving many more. They marched into the city with the army as we made our final move to reclaim it, and there defeated a most terrible enemy."

Liara's attention turns over the crowd once more, a beat of pause taken, then she carries on, "Their perserverance in the face of grave danger is to be commended to the utmost. I name every of them a hero. I invite each person involved to step forward to receive a token of House Grayson's esteem."

5 Grimhall House Guards, Gustav, a gruff Islander advisor, Vladimir, a shaggy brindle Grim Wolfhound arrive, following Valdemar.

Lou has made it this evening. It was a shaky thing, whether or not she'd be joining, but she has made it. She's not dressed fancy as some might expect, still donning her armor and her other exploratory gear; that's not unusual for Lou. Unusual, is her coming at all. She's settled on the platform and putting her best face forward, unable to hide the dark spots around her eyes from countless nights of poor sleep, or the permanent haunted look that seem so to have taken form with all the trauma that has been endured. But, she also recognizes that this is an important event for many, and so she is here, supporting it. She eyes a few folk within the crowd, catching the eyes of those she personally knows and giving each a nod, but otherwise remains quiet.

Hali has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Ian comes into the room and draws up short at the size of the crowd. He freezes and looks very much like he's on the verge of just backing right back out again and noping himself elsewhere.

Vladimir, a shaggy brindle Grim Wolfhound have been dismissed.

Tesha has joined the line.

Gustav, a gruff Islander advisor have been dismissed.

Prince Aindre's up there on the raised platform too alongside Princess Lou and Highlord Liara, doing his best to keep at bay the sort of blown-in-from-off-the-stormy-sea sort of brooding look that's starting to settle a little too naturally on his expression. Ocasionally, it does disappear. There are familiar faces out in the gathering crowd and the Grayson has waved greetings for several of them who call up to him and he even goes so far at one point as to kiss the pad of his thumb and send it blowing off through the crowd for someone. These have been long days for House Grayson, but as he was there to help see people through them, he is here now also to help recognize those for whom it couldn't have been done without.

3 Black Fleet Reavers arrives, following Raven.

Liara takes a moment, to procure a sash from a large chest behind her. She makes to call a name then, her gaze searching the hall, "Lord Mattheu Rivenshari. Your valour and your ready willingness to aid are recognised and commended."

That, it seems, is to be the format for proceedings, with Liara to call people forward, one at a time, to be bestowed with the sash.

Valdemar has joined the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

It's the sight of Aindre up on the raised platform that seems to stop Ian from a very real intention to just get a drink somewhere quieter. He sighs, looks like he's steeling himself for a moment, and plunges in. He's remarkably adept at avoiding being crashed into and otherwise jostled as he waves through the crowd and sits at the first place that the currents of people wash him up against.

Jingling bells each singing out as Matthue moves forwards, a confident walk, though shoulders are slouched forwards a little. All the eyes upon him he stops just shy of Liara and looks around the room with a small curl of his lip. Then a noisy nod as he looks back to Liara, "That's me." Another grin as he looks at the sash, accepting it and stepping back into a flourished and jingling bow. "Thank you."

Ian has joined the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Watcher is given a wave by the Duchess of Sungreet, who offers her the warmest of smiles in the process.

Watcher has joined the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

"Lady Eirene Riven!" Liara calls. And there is an extra comment to be added there, "House Grayson also recognises the great aid provided by the Physicians, directed by Lady Eirene, as well as her own inestimable valour in battle."

Slowly, carefully, Lady-Commander Eirene Riven stands from her table and makes her way to the dias. She walks with the help of a cane but her bearing is the proud straight-backed movement of a soldier - even if she's dressed in a warm teal brocade gown instead of her armor. The reason for the cane and lack of tight-fitting armorn is clear as she draws into the light; she was badly injured in the engagement and everywhere skin is exposed is a fading purple-yellow bruise. The swelling has gone down but the lingering tell-tale traces of her battle-injuries remain. She salutes the high dias with a hand over her heart and a sharp swift half-bow from her waist. "For Crown and Compact," she says solemnly as she's given her sash. "And a bit of payback," is added softly, so only the Graysons can hear. It's accompanied by a sly grin that fades when she turns back to the crowd with her sash worn over her gown. She pauses to accept their applause and then returns to her table.

Cufre has joined the line.

From the polished wood table with griffins climbing the legs, Symonesse wolf-whistles as Eirene accepts her award.

Raven has just gotten settled and then her jade eyes widen in horror as she looks up to those speaking towards the crowd. She immediately turns in her seat and starts plotting a stealthy exit before her guards somewhat smugly obscure her view of said exit. When Eirene's called up she turns around and dutifully witnesses to fearless Lady get her dues.

Raven has joined the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Prince Aindre's clapping for everyone who receives a sash. The distraction of the ceremony even manages to wipe some of the brooding look from off his expression. For Eirene, he seems to applaud all that much louder, looking quite a bit proud of his protege. "She gave them what-for!", he calls out. "She always does!"

3 Thrax Guards, 2 Thrax Elite Guards, Lady Teonia Redreef, Aryka Wyrmfang, Marquessa Pudding, a doughy dog arrive, following Sorrel.

Turn in line: Michael

Lou continues to observe quietly, her eyes going to each of the heroes as they are called forward. She raises a brow ever so slightly in Aindre's direction when he calls after Eirene, then looks to Eirene with a bit of bemusement to see her reaction. She then goes back to looking around the room sone more, chewing on her bottom lip as she does.

"Duke Michael Bisland!" calls Liara, and for once, Michael almost certainly does not have to worry that he is in trouble. "For standing by my side when my home was attacked, facing our enemy dauntlessly, and for his presence once again when we re-entered the city."

Sorrel has joined the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Michael makes his slow way along from his table towards the dias and towards Liara. Princes and Princesses of Grayson get nods from Michael after he arrives...because well, he knows all of them rather well. Aindre, his cousin, Keely of projectile muffins, then High Lady Liara. "It was to be expected, High Lady. Bisland stands with Grayson always. Thank you, High Lady." He'll not linger after receiving a sash of wonders, to instead return to his table.

Evander has joined the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Turn in line: Olivia

Caspian has joined the line.

Olivia walks to the front of the room and offers a bright, warm smile to everyone present. She is a soft spoken woman, so when she tries to speak loud enough for all to hear, her cheeks take on the same pink hue as her dress "Thank you for the honor of letting me help mend the injuries of the brave fighters, present here today and those that could not make it, during and after the battle." She accepts the sash, turns and curtsies gracefully, making her way back to her seat.

"Lady Olivia Ashford!" Liara calls out next. "For whose efforts and talent as a physician, the lives of many wounded at Bastion were saved!"

Sydney has joined the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

1 Templar Initiates, 5 Templar Knight guards arrive, following Cassandra.

Turn in line: Thea

Prince Aindre has words for his cousing Michael also, as he comes to accept the sash. "It was an honor to stand with you on the battlefield. I never thought I'd ever call you inspiring, but here we are. I saw people inspired." A little playful ribbing for a man he's known since they were both children. "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone.", he promises, despite this being a whole huge awards ceremony filled with people. In Michael's wake, he nods to Olivia Ashford's arrival too, proffering a smile for her. "Thank you for everything you did. House Grayson remembers."

Raven has joined the line.

Cassandra has joined the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

"Countess Thea Wyvenheart!" calls Liara, her voice carrying clearly. "For your aid in battle and for your participation in a feat of sheer daring ingenuity against a monstrous foe!"

Alis has joined the line.

Thea looks a little--is that embarrassed when her name is called, however she climbs to her feet, humbleness in her eyes. "Thank you,"she says, the Wyvernheart Countess's southern accent thick. Wearing the sash, Thea makes her way back to her seat with graceful ease.

Cassandra has joined the line.

A reserved assistant named Stojan, 3 Thrax Guards, 1 Thrax Elite Guards, A nondescript man named Cato arrive, following Denica.

Denica arrives, following Yuri.

Tarik has joined the line.

Turn in line: Lisebet

"Duchess Lisebet Ashford!" Liara calls next, and as she presents the sash, she says, "House Grayson ever appreciates the aid of House Ashford, and it was most bold of you and surely heartening to your people to take the field, my lady."

(OOC)The scene set/room mood is now set to: People are being called to the raised platform to be awarded for their contributions in the Reclamation of Bastion.

OOC: Please line/joinline if you were involved in any Bastion events, and write up an acceptance pose so it's ready when it's your turn!

Lisebet gets to her feet and walks up to the aisle, as her name is called. There's no sign of any wounds or scars at all, she's not even moving stiffly any more. She offers a gracious and polite curtsey to High Lady Liara and the Voices before she walks easily to the front. Once there, she accepts her award with grace and calm composure. "Thank you, your Grace," she says. "House Ashford stands with our liege and the compact, as always. I am quite certain that they will be happier if I do not do so again, but I fully expect to. Only next time - better prepared." She looks at the sash passed her way quietly for a moment, then looks up to offer Lou a smile and a nod. Lisebet returns to her seat, apparently unhurried. It's only then that she pulls out a kerchief and quietly coughs into it, facing away from any other people or food. "Do excuse me," she says, once she turns back to the others at her table. Her cheeks might actually go a bit pink for a moment, but her composure recovers swiftly.

12 House Velenosa Guards, Ibasia, the Velenosa Lady-in-Waiting, Ellani, the palm sized spider arrive, following Jaenelle.

Turn in line: Terese

"Princess Terese Valardin!" Liara calls, as she prepares to offer the next sash. "You were a most stalwart presence in battle and the camp both, a boon to the spirits of all."

Terese makes her way to the raised platform, offering a respectful greeting to those there as she accepts her sash. She offers a quiet respectul bow in thanks before she returns to take her seat at the table she was sitting at.

Yuri has joined the a large, polished dance floor.

Denica has joined the a large, polished dance floor.

Terese has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Terese has joined the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Turn in line: Monique

"Lady Monique Greenmarch!" Liara calls next. "You have a talent for being presented in the most unexpected of places and at the most useful of times, my lady. House Grayson thanks you for your aid and ingenuity in battle."

It takes Monique a little bit longer to get to the dais, walking slowly and favoring her left side. But the Minx can't resist something shiny and so go she does. "Thank you. You certainly prove your House motto, High Lady. It was a genuine pleasure. We'll get better with the ropes next time." There's a careful bow, not as deep as it could be for the wince that strains her lips as she does it, before the Greenmarch steps back toward the table.

(OOC)The scene set/room mood is now set to: People are being called to the raised platform to be awarded for their contributions in the Reclamation of Bastion.

OOC: Please line/getinline if you were involved in any Bastion events, and write up an acceptance pose so it's ready when it's your turn!

Lou claps for both Thea and Lisebet, one a protege and one a friend. She also adds a bit of a thumbs up as they pass by the platform. She's not the sort that would call out loudly, like Aindre. The others get a solemn nod passed in their direction.

Vitalis has joined the a round table with inset amber and glass badgers.

Vitalis has joined the line.

Turn in line: Orland

"Lord Orland Amadeo!" Liara calls, as she prepares the next sash. "Your presence and aid both when the city was attacked and when it was retaken, and your dauntlessness in the face of most terrible foes, are commended."

Deva has joined the line.

Orland steps up when he hears his name, dressed in finery that certainly suggested he'd be celebrating wtih a dance or two later on. There's an awkward little glance toward the audience but then he approaches, shoulders squaring up as he walks through tables and chairs set up, giving his collar a little tug. His chin tilts up as he approaches the stage, bowing to Liara with a thoughtful word on his straightening out, "What was done was not for an award but for what was right and to fight against those who would attack innocents and threaten the freedom of the Compact." But then he shifts to let her put it on, "On behalf of House Amadeo and the Order of East Light, I am honored to receive this sash." With that he steps back from the High Lady, with a bit of a smirk and a general slight finger wave to the audience, before he takes a look down at the sash. He promptly returns to standing around the dance floor since he didn't grab a seat earlier.

Jaenelle has joined the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Though he's still applauding each and every person who is awarded a sash, it can be said that Prince Aindre's hands are just a little more thunderous for Lord Orland, even if there are no words he imparts. There's an appreciative and thankful smile for the young man after he's said his part.

Turn in line: Felicia

"Dame Felicia Harrow!" Liara calls forward next. "Your presence when Bastion was attacked was noted, as was your commitment to help when we first removed to retake it, your leadership in making safe the city's harbour, and your capacity at arms when the army was deployed."

Felicia steps up when her name is called, offering a respectful bow to Liara, and dipping her head for the gathering at large with a raise of her whiskey by way of toast,"It was my honor to serve, High Lady. There is a long road yet to go, but the bravery of those here brings hope to us all. May it be a long time yet before you see the Shining Lands." she offers to the gathered before prowling back to her seat.

Denica has joined the line.

Yuri has joined the line.

As each award is presented, Keely lightly applauds her gloved hands together, barely making a sound in so doing. She abandons her fork to do this so often that an attendant takes her plate away during one such bout of applause, leaving the princess watching after it in silent despondence.

Turn in line: Audgrim

"Sir Audgrim Veilandir!" Liara calls. "Your presence at my side when I was injured during the attack on Bastion is most certainly not forgotten."

Audgrim steps up with no fanfare, bowing deeply. The award is accepted with a look of confused pride and some embarassment, but he gives the Grayson royalties a brief, but warm, smile and a murmured 'Thank you', before he retakes his seat.

Orland looks over toward someone in the crowd that's clapping is a little thunderous! Well, he sees you, but he also stops by Duchess Lisebet to give her a little nod before he blends with folks in the standing room only.

Turn in line: Kiera

"Lady Kiera Wyvernheart!" Liara calls. "I note that your knowledge and insight on our foe is ever appreciated."

Kiera rather awkardly from the highlord with a polite smile and small curtsey, and a murmer of "I will always do what I can in service to the compact" She seemsanxious to return to her seat at the badger table

Martino has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Kaia has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Bastien, a strapping Malvici escort leaves, following Kaia.

an immaculately dressed assistant named Johannes, a slightly embarrassed courier called Guido, Cosimo de'Malvici, the Southport banker, Kaia leave, following Martino.

Turn in line: Ian

Audgrim has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Dodgy, a brown rat leaves, following Audgrim.

"Lord Ian Kennex!" Liara calls, whether he likes it or not. "Your prodigious capacity at arms is noted and commended, as is your unwavering perserverance in the face of great danger."

"That sash looks good on you!", Prince Aindre calls over to Lord Orland, his tone significantly complimentary.

It takes Ian a moment to realize that his name has been called. It's really loud in here, and he might not have been paying as much attention as he ought to have done. But the realization gets through after a moment, probably due to the break in the rhythm of call and response, and after some scrambling to get rid of something in his hands (which he shoves towards Raven) he hastily braces on his cane and levers himself with a grunt of effort to his feet. "Right here." He raises his hand like he's back in school or something. Then he realizes that he's supposed to go to the front, so he does that, instead. All in all, it is neither a graceful, nor a heroic acceptance of his moment of recognition, punctuated not by a speech, but by an awkward and mumbled: "Uh, thanks. ... This is nice." Then, released from the spotlight, he gratefully fades back into the crowd and probably goes back to drinking or something.

Orland looks up from where he was showing off the sash to some admirers of the 'Amadeo' ... cause there's bound to be some, right? He hears Prince Aindre and grins, making to sure to flourish in a bow for the Prince.

Turn in line: Valdemar

"Duke Valdemar Grimhall!" Liara calls. "Your actions when Bastion was attacked facilitated the safe withdrawal of hundreds of my people from the city."

Prince Aindre doesn't say anything aloud to Lord Ian, but when the Kennex man is receiving his sash the Grayson prince does rise from his seat and drop to a knee on the raised platform where he's been perched so he can whisper something just between the pair of them. For what it's worth, there is a warmth to his expression.

Standing up from the seat he found after arriving alone earlier, Valdemar comes forward, approaching Liara. After bowing and accepting his award, the Duke tells Liara, "Thank you, your Grace, and congratulations on your victory. House Grimhall wishes you good fortune as you begin rebuilding." Giving a moment for a response, he then turns and makes his way back to where he was sitting.

Liara gives a gentle incline of her head in acknowledgement to Valdemar, and prepares the next sash to present.

Turn in line: Corban

"Sir Corban Telmar!" Liara calls next. "Your presence at Grayhold, both when it was attacked and when we reclaimed it, is commended, as well as your unerring ability at arms."

When he is called forward, Sir Corban dips his head slightly to receive the the sash from the Princess of Bastion. The First Captain smooths out the sash and settles it on himself and then takes a step back, inclining his his head formally. "It is a privilege to serve, Your Grace." And then he moves to set.

Five, a probationary assistant arrives, following Mailys.

Turn in line: Edris

"Lord Edris Elwood!" Liara calls forward, and there's a subtle arch to her eyebrows as she says the next words, "I do not know how you did it, my lord, but your distraction of our enemy surely saved the lives of others."

Edris is dressed in his very best and most expensive clothing--which are, of course, a quite beautifully crafted set of leathers. The ones he was wearing at the final battle, in fact, though they've been impeccably cleaned. As his name is called he rises, offering a deep bow to Liara, and to the Voices as well. "It was my honor to serve," he replies in a clear and calm voice. "Especially in such valiant and steadfast company, alongside those from almost all the reaches of the Compact, peers, commoners, and allies alike." Once he receives his sash, he bows once more to the assembly at large. Oathlanders. His steps back towards his table are less stiff, and he retakes his seat.

Turn in line: Tesha

"Lady Tesha Telmar!" calls Liara. "You surely, as repeatedly demonstrated within Bastion, represent the pinnacle of military understanding among a House already well-known for its aptitude for warfare."

Tesha wasn't expecting awards, but here they were! She shakes herself from whatever conversation she'd been in and paints on a smile. She'd have to put this sash with her Valor one. She'd been scouting and in the last battle. Probably not something that she'd forget any time soon. She clasps her hands in front of her until she gets to Liara and then she curtsies to her, "Thank you, your excellency." she tells her before she reaches out to take the sash. She straightens and then takes a step back before turning to head back to her seat at the table.

Corban has joined the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Turn in line: Cufre

"Cufre Harrow!" Liara calls out. "Your deeds in clearing the harbour of Bastion, which surely saved the lives of many, are commended."

Cufre quickly walks to the dais to offer a deep bow and says a quiet thank you to the highlord as she is fitted with her sash. As she turns to return to her place in the crowd, she lifts the front of the sash away from her to get a closer, albeit upside down, look.

Orland has left the a large, polished dance floor.

Philippe leaves, following Orland.

Turn in line: Caspian

"Caspian Wild!" Liara calls forward next. "The Compact is the better for you having turned your ability at arms against its enemies and your skill in battle is noted."

Artorius has joined the a round table with inset amber and glass badgers.

Caspian looks up as he hears his name called. He stands, his face wearing the bright smile that it so often adorned his features. He makes his way up to the front of the hall and offers a flourishing and respectful bow. with a natural showman's presence he speaks, face breaking into a broad smile "Your Graces, it was my honor to fight alongside you, and so many other heroes. A chance to stand with my liege, and the living legends such as we have arrayed in this hall is a once in a life time event." he offers a slightly sardonic grin, "Well... we can hope so anyway." he chuckles and then speaks again, his voice loud and projected. "They say you can tell the qualities of a leader by those who choose to stand by them" he motioned to the greater room with his hand and looked back then, his face beaming "I think none could question that this day. I am proud to serve, proud to stand by you and the others in this room. The road ahead may be long, but we will overcome! For our people! For the Compact!" he clapped his arm to his chest and bowed once more, accepting the sash with a final smile before returning to the crowd.

"How many Harrows do you think we'll be awarding tonight?", Prince Aindre asks of his Highlord by way of complimenting both Cufre and her family's contributions to the reclaiming of Bastion. He's just a little cheeky about it.

Michael is overheard praising Cufre.

Five, a probationary assistant leaves, following Mailys.

Liara gives a gentle incline of her head in acknowledgement of Caspian's words, a quick smile, and then she retrieves the next award to be bestowed.

Nina has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

2 Ivory Shields, Rodrigo, the Surprisingly Large Flautist leave, following Nina.

2 Ivory Shields, Rodrigo, the Surprisingly Large Flautist arrive, following Nina.

Nina has joined the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Felicia hears the word 'Harrow' and can't help but draw her attention towards Aindre and the dais with a grin and raise of her glass,"Not all of them are cut-out for the battlefield, your highness, but that doesn't mean they aren't doing their part in other ways."

Turn in line: Raven

"Raven, the Blackheart!" Liara calls next. "For persistent aid wherever it can be given, for remarkable capacity as a scout, and for her repeatedly demonstrated skill at arms."

Raven manages to school her expression when she's called up but it's clear she's not entirely keen to be the center of attention even if briefly. Reluctantly she strides forward. She bows towards the highlord "Thank you, Highlord." She turns then to the lords, ladies, and collective who's who of the Compact before her, her voice carrying clearly when she speaks, "Privilege to serve. Protecting the Compact is it's own reward." She wastes no time in trotting back towards her seat.

Ian gives Raven a "gentle" nudge to accept her award in the tradition of 'if I have to suffer, so do you'.

Turn in line: Alis

"Her grace, Princess Alis Valardin!" Liara calls next. "Your presence and your remarkable ability in battle was a most welcome boon to the army."

Alis stands from her seat at the map table to approach the dais and accept the award given, with a somewhat bittersweet smile for those presenting. "It's a battle you hope you never have to fight, but still an honor to stand beside our Grayson allies and help them reclaim their home. And I am filled with pride at having seen so many from the Oathlands there to help. My heart remains with all of you, and you have the full support of House Valardin." is said simply, before she heads back to re-take her seat with sash in hand.

Turn in line: Cassandra

"Legate Cassandra Laurent!" Liara calls. "Your presence surely emboldened the army, and your dauntless stand against a most unusual and terrible foe saved many."

Upon being called forward, Cassandra gets up. Unfortunately, the Legate of Arts was seated waaay at the end of a particularly big table, and so walking up to the raised platform takes a bit of time. Maybe not long enough for it to become uncomfortable -- certainly long enough for people to register how long it's taking. Cassandra doesn't even bat an eyelash. She can handle discomfort in public. It's almost literally a requirement of advancing to such a high level in the Faith.

When she reaches the raised platform and accepts her sash, Cassandra bows deeply toward Liara. She turns toward the crowd: "This is not my night, so I will keep this blessing brief." (In the crowd, a few people murmur to the effect of 'Oh, gods, a blessing.') "Tonight we celebrate victory -- a victory attained by honoring Gloria and holding fast to the ideals our gods embody. Let Jayus be honored by the verse that will be written about the Battle of Bastion. Let Limerance be honored by the memories and experiences we will all preserve. Let us honor all of the gods, tonight... and in that, let us not forget the Queen of Endings, for the road to House Grayson's victory -- and the Compact of Arvum's victory -- is one that was paved for us by those who are /not/ here tonight, and will /not/ be with us again. As we begin to plan for a hard-earned future, please, all of you: remember their souls in your prayers. Thank you, Your Grace. Thank you, House Grayson. Thank you, all who fought for Bastion, and all who will rebuild it."

A beat. "I'm done, now. I told you it would be brief." Cassandra then begins the process of walking /all the way back/ to her seat. It takes just as long going the one way as it did the other, and at one point Cassandra has to stop because a server is blocking her path.

"No doubt you inspire the Oathlanders with your own bravery.", Prince Aindre commends the Valardin highlord after he's finished with his round of thunderous applause. He looks all too pleased to see her there accepting the sash. "We were honored also to fight with you at our side."

Liara gives a gentle incline of her head after Cassandra's blessing, a small smile, and then she prepares the next award.

Alis bows towards the dais when Aindre speaks up like that; a 'thank you' no doubt seen even if not heard as she mouths the words.

Turn in line: Tarik

"Tarik Morien!" Liara calls next. "For persistence in the face of a most daunting foe when the army entered Bastion."

"Thank you! You truly humble me with this award. Tarik lowers his head in homage to Liara as he proudly proclaims, "House Grayson has always shown me kindness and respect. I do not know where how my life would have turned out in this city if I have not encountered the amazing Graysons that have inhabit your House. " Tarik bows his head again and accepts the sash, "It was the very least I could do to help in your fight". Tarik bites the corner of his lip a little as he states softly, "I only wish I could done more for your House and Bastion."

Felicia clatters a hand on part of her metal armor in respect for Tarik. Louder than perhaps necessarily proper, but at least below a dull roar and kept short for some measure of propriety.

Lou mutters, "How am ... ... ... ... of ... souls lost ... those who will not here? When so many of ... are members ... the Grayson family."

Liara gives a small incline of her head in understanding to Tarik, another brief smile offered, then she reaches to retrieve the next award.

Turn in line: Vitalis

Lou mutters something quietly to herself and her face hardens a bit at something Cassandra says.

"Lord Vitalis Clement!" Liara calls. "Your consistence in providing information, your deeds in clearing the way for the army to be able to enter the city, and your ability in battle are all commended."

Vitalis' chin lifts when he hears his name, emotions a quicksilver flash before he slips Into movement, weaving through the throng to accept honors offered. He bows deep to accept the sash and straightens, face scarred and solemn. With hand lifted, a salute covering his heart that presses the sash to his chest, his bright-and-dark tenor rings, "It was and is Clement's honor to stand with House Grayson. All honor to the Griffins!" He bows again, still with hand over his chest and retreats after being presented with the sash.

Turn in line: Deva

"Princess Deva Redrain!" Liara calls out. "Your skill in battle and your unyielding stand to rally soldiers, even when wounded yourself, are commended."

Deva's approach is stiff and slower than usual, like her limbs aren't moving quiiiite the way she'd like them to right now. But she manages with determination, looking more put-together than she has in quite some time despite all the terrible bruising on her face and arm in a sling. Her posture betrays her physical discomfort, but she carries forth with a tone clear (and perhaps a fraction loud as her family may attest.) "Home means everything. And sometimes you can take it for granted until you can't be there, and that's a particular pain I wouldn't wish upon anyone." For the briefest of moments, her expression flickers with grief before it is quickly swallowed away and she carries on. "I am relieved to see yours returned to you. It is a credit to Grayson leadership that this well-coordinated effort was so collaborative and successful. It is a testament to all of the people here, and particularly those that we have lost who cannot, that we are capable of so much greatness when we work as a united front. That spirit of cooperation will take us far. I look forward to what we will accomplish together next. Redrain will fight with Grayson and the Compact to the last. Thank you," She bows her head respectfully (but perhaps also awkwardly stiffly) to the gathered Graysons before retreating to her seat.

As with others, Liara offers a gentle incline of her head to each of Vitalis and Deva after they speak, a faint smile lingering about her features, before, each time, she goes to present the next award.

Turn in line: Denica

"Princess Denica Thrax!" Liara calls out. "For your rescuing of my people and for your leadership in doing so."

The short Thrax princess wears a fading sunburn as she steps forward to accept the sash dressed in a shimmering gown of hundreds of glass beads. It's an effort, but she moves with ease. A smile forms on her lips, it's easy and subtly reaches her vivid blue eyes. "Thank you," she says gently accepting the sash, but never misses a chance to say a few words. "We just do what we have to do...," Denica pauses and looks over the crowd, eyes bouncing off familiar faces and new ones. "Our strength lies in our ability to work together. I feel both humbled and empowered by the experience... How willing our team came together and how they were willing risk themselves to make the world a little better...a little safer... To fight what must be fought. I am grateful for the chance to work with such an incredible team and ...the ability to help others." Taking in a breath, the princess's lips curl into a wider smile. "Let us never loose sight of what we can achieve when we stand together." Denica is out of the line of sight as fast as she steps into it, offering a parting nod to Liara and others, before she wanders back to the dance floor looking ever inspired and determined.

Prince Aindre's not shy with his applause for anyone who steps up to receive an award, even if occasionally he seems to be mouthing words into the crowd here or there. At Deva's words, there's something a little stronger about how he claps, perhaps in the sentiment of agreement. Before she can scamper off with her sash, he tells her, "You were more than just a credit to House Redrain out there, but also a credit to the Compact. We hope to never need you on the battlefield again, but it will be an honor to fight at your side once more should ever it come to that."

Turn in line: Yuri

"Lord Yuri Tessere!" Liara calls out. There's a flicker of a smile, a faint incline of her head in acknowledgement to Denica, and likely those feed straight to her acknowledgement of Yuri, "For aiding in the rescue of my people, and for forming part of that incredible team."

Yuri moved forward as his name was called, keeping his head bowed in a show of respect as he kept a hand pressed to the side of his sheath, flowing his cloak out of the way of any passerby. When Liara addressed him, his head rose high to look upon her directly, "House Tessere ever dares, and endures, to ensure a united Compact, from any and all threat that may seek to leave us in ruins. I am honored to have played part in the reclamation, and humbly thank you for the recognition." The lord remained still as the sash was placed, offering another bow of respect before gathering himself and proceeding back down the way he had come.

Keely has politely applauded every hero called to the stage, but when Denica is called up she sits bolt upright in her seat. "Hooo!" she cheers softly, fervently applauding as loudly as her gloves will allow.

Thea has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Lou checks dexterity and stealth at hard. Lou is successful.

Terese stands to applaud, letting that be enough for everyone who was called forth and then sits back down at her table.

Lou has left the a raised platform.

Liara does not seem quite done. There are the people next to her, after all. "Princess Aindre Grayson!" she calls. "For his unyielding valour and leadership even in the face of great loss."

Liara said Prince.

Lou is in the process of attempting to creep off the platform, and doing a really good job of it, when she hears Liara calling out names. Curses!! She pauses and turns and smiles, but she's standing and people can see her standing, probably, now that she can't just stealth away.

Eirene lets out a whoop for Aindre. She comes to her feet, albeit slowly, and applauds. "To the Hammer of Grayson!" She's grinning wickedly as she says it, loudly enough to encourage others to take up the cry. "None Greater!"

Princess Aindre actually manages to look a little surprised as his name is called out. He rises though, dutifully so, and puts a proud smile on his face nonetheless as he dips his head to receive the sash. "My family has served me so well. I can only serve them as loyally in return.", he promises.

"For the Hammer of Grayson! None Greater!" Lisebet takes up the call, her voice carrying well.

Akamos has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Alis stands up to clap when Aindre's name is called.

"None Greater! Hooo, Cousin Aindre!" cheers Keely, about as loudly as a normal person's speaking voice.

Vitalis applauds with the rest, lifting fingers to whistle approval, bright and shrill. With apologies to those standing near.

Symonesse claps loudly and lets out a raucous whistle as she moves to stand in her applause. "The Hammer of Grayson! None greater!"

Cassandra stands up to clap without actually looking at the Grayson platform, because while standing and clapping she appears to be furiously glaring at Watcher.

Raven watches Symonesse get up and cheer like a proud mother at a basketball game, grinning a bit.

Liara waits for a little of the applause to subside, then calls next, "Princess Lou Grayson!" There's no spotlight to centre on Lou, fortunately for her. "For her leadership and her capacity to organise, and her unwavering clarity of purpose."

Vitalis claps even louder for Lou, whistling again.

Symonesse whistles once more and claps her hands together as loud as she can for Lou, beaming with pride.

Eirene calls out, "Louuuuuu!" She joins the crowd in whistling for the princess, even if Lou hates that word and would rather be elsewhere right now.

Alis continues with her standing and clapping for the Grayson family members being awarded.

Raven raises her flask and waves it a bit to honor Lou in her own ignoble way,

Felicia applauds Aindre and Lou when they are both called up.

Prince Aindre's got plenty of applause for his cousin Lou and if people are going to be calling out his titles he'll do the same for her, "The Tenacious Griffin I keep hearing her called!", he says loud enough to be heard over his own clapping. "Such bravery in the face of the horrors that we've experience. Some of them together."

Lou seems to have taken the moment to steel herself at being in brought into the spotlight, even without a spotlight. She plasters as pleasant a look as she can on her face, and steps forward a step from where she was standing when she was sitting only moments ago because Lou was TOTALLY NOT trying to slip away quietly. TOTALLY NOT. But, also, to those close to her she also looks absolutely mortified for all of the recognition. MORTIFIED. "I was just doing what I could," she tries to shove off all the praise. "Which is all any of us can do really."

Lisebet stands up to cheer louder for her friend Lou!

Caspian jumps up and claps thunderously for the Graysons, offering his voice to the cheering crowds!

Terese joins in the applause with a bright smile

Liara is happy enough to furnish some distraction to relieve Lou, at least after a few moments, her voice lifting, clear and crisp, as her gaze tracks towards Gianna. "While some have not been able to attend to be commended in person, it shall be done in due time. For now, I invite Nightingale Gianna to sing, something which I have been looking forwards to all evening!"

Keely rises to her feet then, nearly toppling her chair with the floof of her ballgown skirt in the process, but managing to not. "Wait, Your Grace," she calls up to the platform, her cheeks flushing crimson as she does it. "You have forgotten one Very Important award this evening." She smiles a little smile, then turns her dark eyes up to Aindre, giving a small nod as if to signal him

Gianna has been standing glamourously off to one side this whole time, applauding Whisper-polite applause for each and every person honoured. So she tips her chin up and starts to walk toward the -- oh.

Oh? Oh yeah! There is one more award! Prince Aindre catches on quick and since he's already standing there on that platform he scoops up a sash from where there are some left, this to lift to bestow upon his own Highlord. "Everyone in the Compact holds their breath when a new Highlord is appointed to any Great House, but to Grayson especially. We carry so much weight on our shoulders, people look to us for leadership. It's safe to say that you have risen to the occasion more than admirably. You inspire me, and I hear people talk, you inspire so many others besides. You take care of us too. I am proud to serve this family under you."

Lou seems completely relieved when the spotlight goes back to Aindre. She goes back to trying to escape to somewhere else that's not the platform.

Artorius was sitting beside Keely manages to snag the chair before it topples completely. He hoists a glass to the Grayson's and follows Keely's moment with a grin.

Keely lifts her champagne glass and calls out, on the heels of Aindre's speech, "To The Iron Princess! None Greater!"

Lark has been clapping quietly and straight-faced for some time, but as Aindre begins to speak of Liara's merits as a leader, she lifts her glass high to co-sign the sentiments.

Alis is overheard praising Liara: True leaders do not ask others to do what they will not do themselves; you lead the way Your Grace, setting a stellar example of honor and leadership.

Monique is overheard praising Liara.

Evander is overheard praising Liara.

Nina is overheard praising Keely.

Evander simply claps along to the cheers at Liara, unable to shout louder than the crowd.

Nina is overheard praising Lou.

"To the Iron Princess! None Greater than Grayson," Lisebet chimes in.

Liara's gaze turns towards her not-quite-tripping-over little sister (namely Keely) with an inquisitive arch of her eyebrows, then to Aindre. And, then, she just smiles, radiantly brightly so, and gives a small bow of her head to accept the award that Aindre presents to her. She clasps her hands before herself, and while her gaze turns to Gianna in silent information, she doesn't speak up again just yet.

Liara turns her gaze to Gianna in invitation, really!

Raven checks 'recovery check' at normal. Raven is successful.

Gianna has joined the a raised platform.

Caspian has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Kiera is overheard praising Lou.

Kiera is overheard praising Keely.

Lou has joined the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Caspian has joined the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Gianna makes her way to the raised platform, resplendent in bard blue honeysilk expertly fashioned by Sira.

"Legends Untold," Gianna announces, "Was composed years ago by Princess Sabella Grayson. I sang it at Lady Monique's Legendary Gala, and I am singing it here again tonight for all those who fell in Bastion." The self-styled Nightingale takes a moment adjust her grip on her gittern before plucking the strings to call into being a haunting tune. Her voice rises soon after.

'What is a legend without hope?
The soldier who stands on the field
Whose song won't be sung
If the day is not won
And whose name no one's memory will wield.

What if the soldier's forgotten?
What if their story's untold?
How can we tell of the day that they fell
Standing tall against danger so bold?

So we sing these songs and write these lines
For memories we cannot find
A legend for.
And regardless if they won or lost,
They stood and fought despite the cost
For all of us.

What is a legend without song?
Just a history lost in a book.
Full of wishes and deeds
That more people might read
If they knew all the bravery it took.

So we sing these songs and write these lines
For memories we cannot find
A legend for.
And regardless if they won or lost,
They stood and fought despite the cost
For all of us.'

The haunting tune dwindles on the gittern, then dies. The song is over. Gianna executes a shallow bow to those assembled and murmurs something quietly.

Keely flashes Gianna an apologetic smile, turning to collect the chair that Artorius so galantly rescued and grinning at him as a result. She settles down beside him with a gentle bump of her shoulder, leaning in to murmur before watching the Nightingale do her thing with a glimmer of admiration in her gaze.

Monique is overheard praising Gianna: Even more beautiful this time around

Olivia is overheard praising Gianna.

Vitalis is overheard praising Gianna.

Kiera is overheard praising Aindre.

Eirene checks composure and etiquette at hard. Eirene is successful.

Caspian is overheard praising Gianna.

Kiera is overheard praising Gianna.

Eirene isn't crying at the song. She's too hardened a veteran for that. It does have her looking a little sad though. Her glass of whiskey raises high from her table in toast to the fallen.

Raven checks composure at hard. Raven fails.

Nina is overheard praising Gianna.

Artorius stands up for when Keely comes back over to the table and helps her settle back in with a bit of a chair tuck, before he flops back in his own chair, an arm pitching to rest on the back of her chair as he leans in to speak with her. But otherwise he turns his attention toward the song, listening respectfully.

Vitalis stills for Gianna's song, falling silent amid the celebratory cheer. He. sniffs at the conclusion and bows his head. "We will not forget."

Lisebet goes quiet for Gianna's song, listening intently and quietly. She smiles wryly, one hand moving to touch the copper brooch she still wears. "We remember," she adds, following Vitalis' cue.

Felicia elects to go with raising her glass alongside Eirene, face set in a firm line at least briefly before she tips back her whiskey and set aside the glass.

Alis isn't shy this time in letting a tear fall, no doubt the song sung bringing very specific memory for her. There are no words she can speak in the moment, just lift her glass and then drain it completely dry of the wine it contained.

Raven rises slowly, while everyone's attention is turned towards Gianna. She slinks her way towards the back.

Monique hums along at the refrain - how could she forget? There's a distinct faraway look on the Greenmarch's face, in the room and yet not. Not until the last note dies away does she blink and return, her smile wide. "Ah, Gods and Spirits, if I had a heart, I'd be weeping right now. Brava!"

As the cheers die down and Gianna steps up to the platform to sing, Symonesse grows quiet. She listens intently. By the second verse, the Queen's eyes are glistening. By the last, she is crying openly enough that one of the King's Own steps forward to hand her a handkerchief.

Having lapsed into silence for Gianna's song, her gaze tilted downwards, Liara echoes Lisebet's sentiment and that of Vitalis too, a clearly spoken, "We remember."

Cassandra appears troubled by something as she listens to the song. She fiddles with her sash a bit, perhaps to allay whatever is troubling her. Does she accidentally tug it into an even more fetching and eye-catching position?

Watcher doesn't look at all unhappy about Gianna's song, but she does look distinctly...unhappy because of it. She shifts a little in her seat, glancing at table and wine. Looks up. Looks down. Then she notices Symonesse crying, and she looks *concerned*.

Cassandra does, sort of, but not really.

Terese sits quietly through the song listening

Ian doesn't seem to have been effected one way or another by the song, but he's hard to read in the best of times, and right now he's closed off and subdued enough that it's far from the best of times. He nods to Raven when she leaves and tips back the rest of the drink in his flask, then puts it back into his coat pocket.

Vitalis has left the a round table with inset amber and glass badgers.

Deva listens closely but looks a little like she's been punched in the gut. She joins in the applause as the song ends, hastily blinks a few times, and then quietly excuses herself from the party.

Vitalis slips through the throng towards Liara.

Jaenelle has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Jasper, an unflappable scoundrel, 2 Redrain Guards, 1 Redrain Veteran Guards leave, following Deva.

Lisebet rises, showing off Audgrim's good work on her outfit, and heads for the dance floor quietly. She snags a drink along the way.

Keely lifts a hand, brushing her fingertips across her cheeks as tears roll down them. Everyone in the hall is in various stages of emotional displays, and she lingers in her seat for a time to let everyone feel their feelings, and applaud the Nightingale as they see fit. Eventually she does rise again, with a gentle smile to Artorius as she does. She approaches the raised platform and lifts her voice one last time for the evening. "Thank you all very much for joining us. We will now open the dance floor for a more social kind of celebration." It is a simple enough announcement, and the last she makes for the evening. The band in the balcony strikes up with lively dance music, and the princess slips back toward her table once again.

Evander has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Theo Velenosa stands up from his seat at a table now that the ceremony has drawn to a close and then takes a moment to murmur to a few acquaintances that are close by. Soon after, he slips away from the crowd to make his way out of the main hall.

Ian nods to Evander, as well, when he gets up to go. Now deserted by both friend and cousin, he eyeballs the door.

Theo has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

3 House Velenosa Guards, Renault, Timothe leave, following Theo.

(OOC)The scene set/room mood is now set to: A band in the balcony is playing lively, cheerful dance music, and the dance floor is a riot of twirling color as guests enjoy the festivities.

Ryhalt has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Gianna having emotionally damaged everyone, Gianna slips out.

Gianna has left the a raised platform.

Artorius rises from his seat and seems to try to catch Keely before she returns all the way to the table, extending his hand to her and bowing his head slightly to ask her, "May I have the first dance?"

Lou has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Lark has left the a round table with inset amber and glass badgers.

1 Templar Knight guards arrives, following Oswyn.

Lou mouths 'more social?' at Keely, giving her another horrified look, brows raising high. That's when she departs from the wall she'd been holding up and boldly moves toward the door. Her intent is to leave before anyone makes her be more social. She has good whiskey waiting for her somewhere!

Vitalis lifts his head as the call for dancing and murmurs to Liara.

Oswyn walks in at the sort of speed that suggests he knows he is very, very late. He does shoot some concerned glances for various people who are definitely not crying as they pass him.

A broad grin finds Keely's face as Artorius rises, and she dips her chin gently, carefully placing a delicate hand in the one he offers. "I would be delighted," she murmurs in reply, turning to follow him to the dance floor and giving Eirene A LOOK on the way by. For some reason.

Artorius has left the a round table with inset amber and glass badgers.

Anyone could see that the Nightingale's haunting song calls to something in Prince Aindre, who listens to every word. If there isn't applause after it's because he's wiping at his one eye just a little and besides who would ever hear it beneath all the cheering and thunder of applause she brings to the hall. That brooding look returns, but it isn't allowed to linger there for long. He pushes it away and searches the crowd briefly before slipping off the raised dais and heading toward a table. It's the Queen he's searching for, already pulling that sash off he'd been awarded so he can rehome it around a much worthier neck after he catches her attention. "If I deserve this honor, you deserve it a thousand times over. You do so much good for my people, this Compact, and in Bastion's reclaiming you were more instrumental than many will ever consider. If we can do for your own one day even half as much as you've done for us in remaining here and with your wisdom and guidance, we'll one day have them walking in the sunshine again.", he tells her with a bare sort of sincerity that doesn't allow for much murmuring.

Raven is just making her way towards the exit as Oswyn is entering the gala. The guards see the intersection and vanish with surprising speed from around Raven, prompting her to pause and look around behind her in utter bafflement then her attention is redirected towards Aindre.

Terese sits at the table she has been watching people take the dance floor.

Edris has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

"You should be exceptionally proud, this was very well put together," Artorius offers to Keely on his way over, escorting her to the dance floor where his voice seems to drop or gets lost in the noise of the music and other conversations. His attention flicks briefly to his Aunt, smiling at Eirene before he takes the lead position on the floor and draws Keely into the dance that fits the music.

Felicia slips off.

Felicia has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Ian looks like he was gathering himself to make an escape, but he notices Oswyn and Raven on a collision course near the door, where he would have to go if he wanted to leave, and seems to think the better of it. He does get himself up to go look for another drink, though.

Alis watches the very touching tribute given to the Queen with a sentimental gaze, a brief smile appearing as she toasts the interaction. Honestly, are there more words that could do that justice?

Liara gives a small incline of her head to something said to her by Vitalis, and then she sees herself over to the dance floor.

"I'm terribly sorry," Oswyn tells Raven, once his templar's steered him the right way. He adjusts the belt on his jacket and squints at Raven for a moment. He leans closer to murmur something.

Cassandra stands up from her table as a messenger from the Faith comes in to seek out the Legate. Cassandra leans in and converses quietly with the messenger: "...what happened? ...when did THAT happen? ...how much of it? ...oh my goodness, I'll be right up." With a few hurried goodbyes, Cassandra slips away, to go tend to whatever problem requires her attention now.

Tesha looks out to the dance floor when people start to move that way and the woman gives another look to the sash that she was given before gently folding it and slipping it into safe keeping until she gets home.

Cassandra has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

1 Templar Initiates, 5 Templar Knight guards leave, following Cassandra.

A page shows up to bestow a sash on Oswyn, what with the ceremony over, and Liara, the one who might otherwise have given it, being occupied over where she seems about to do some dancing.

Ian has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Despite the emotional trauma Gianna has inflicted on the entire party, Keely is all smiles as she joins Artorius on the dance floor, the hand beaded griffins on her gown and the champagne silver lace around her shoulders glittering in the light as they step lightly around the floor. Her voice was already essentially lost in the din, but it grows even softer as she chats at him a mile a minute beneath the music

Symonesse smiles as Aindre approaches, but the expression falters a little when he slips the sash off himself and places it around her. She glances down at it and gently touches the emerald eye of the griffin with her finger before she looks up and shakes her head, searching for words. She takes in a breath and dabs at her eyes again, complaining with gentle humor, "Are you conspiring with the Nightingale to keep me crying? I thank you for this, but I don't deserve it more than you or anyone else in this room. You and all of these fine people did the work of reclaiming your city from a great evil. All I did was offer what guidance I could, just as any member of this Compact would. I'll wear the sash, but only because it matches my dress. You are going home with it, though. Understand me?" For a moment, Symonesse draws herself up to try to look very royal, but the facade dissolves quickly and, instead, she leans in to give Aindre one of those warm hugs that she is rather famous for. And maybe dry her eyes a little on his shoulder.

Lou takes her opportunity to slip right past Oswyn and Raven and right on toward the door, has no one has grabbed her attention.

Willen leaves, following Lou.

Terese sees if she can catch Aindre's attention, she offers him a respectful greeting and questions, "Prince Aindre would you do me the honor of dancing with me," she questions

Vitalis extends a hand to Liara, smiling as they head to the dance floor. "Honor upon honor," he grins, slipping them into those already moving. He nods his head at Aindre and Symonesse, spinning so Liara can see for herself.

Raven leans in and her painted lips peel back from her teeth as she lowly hisses something at Oswyn, pausing to emphatically snap her fingers of her good hand before continuing to talk in low turns to the apologetic archscholar.

Linx, a beautiful Persian cat with a green collared bow arrives, following Thesbe.

Eirene gives Aindre a little grin at his approach to Symonesse and uses the moment to slip away. She mouths 'go dance with her' as Terese requests his company. Although she's not very fast as she's walking with a cane, so she can be caught if someone grabs her attention.

Mattheu steps up from the amber and glass badgers table, a nod to those still at the table. "I need to find... A dance. I can't be sitting all day."

Oswyn is handed a sash, which only seems to confuse him. He says thank you anyway, because polite, but is then being hissed at. He holds up his hands, the sash dangling limply (but glitteringly) from one as he replies.

Watcher's lips thin to a line as she watches Cassandra go. When she turns back to the table, there's a faint tic in one jaw again, which seems somewhat detached from her pensive expression. There's a shake of her head, and then she pushes out of her seat to go find another drink. Oh, there are people just wandering around with them. She snags the first one from the first server to pass by, without bothering to pay attention to what it might be.

Thesbe walked into the Great Hall wearing a outfit styled around the Ocean Waves. She shyly looked around searching for any familiar faces. Her kitten, Linx, pranced off into the hall to cause trouble elsewhere.

12 House Velenosa Guards, Ibasia, the Velenosa Lady-in-Waiting, Ellani, the palm sized spider leave, following Jaenelle.

Nina has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Nina has joined the a large, polished dance floor.

Caspian has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Caspian has joined the a large, polished dance floor.

Cadenza has left the a round table with inset amber and glass badgers.

3 Fidante House Guards leaves, following Cadenza.

Oswyn has joined the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Ian has collected a glass of whiskey (after giving it a sniff for some reason) and lingers on the edges of things with it in hand.

Even though Liara's gone to dance, she is, by her standards, subdued. Thanks Gianna! Still, she moves easily, obviously practised, as she joins Vitalis on the dance floor, but it's a dance that she approaches without flourish or style, however brisk the steps.

Valdemar has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Cristoph has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Rupert, the Laurent Archivist, 2 Valardin Knights, 1 Laurent veteran guards leave, following Cristoph.

Count Artorius seems to be reasonably better on his feet than he was at the Princess' dance lessons. His attention is fixed on Keely as he guides her around the dance floor, their conversation lost in the din. If the first dance sweeps into the second dance, the Count doesn't seem to be paying any mind, laughing over something said as he leads Princess Keely into turns and twists, lifting her when the dance calls for it.

Mattheu has left the a round table with inset amber and glass badgers.

Mattheu has joined the a large, polished dance floor.

Eirene has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Raven lifts a finger at Oswyn and straitens, apparently having posed him a question and studying his face for the answer.

Vitalis says in Arvani hand language, "s steps and pace match the mood of his partner. Stately, graceful. He lips move with quiet words."

Raven deflates a bit and offers Oswyn a hand, "At least you got your sash. C'mon, let's go say to Lord Ian."

Vitalis' steps and pace match the mood of his partner. Stately, graceful. He lips move with quiet words.

Alis quietly makes her excuses after reading one of the messages handed to her by her adjutant, though she also gives an apologetic look at someone before slipping away.

Alis has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Sir Rhys, a Valardin Knight, Laurene, a military adjutant, 10 Valardin Knights leave, following Alis.

Prince Aindre doesn't seem to argue anything at all, a revelation that might come to some who know him as odd. "I understand.", he promises the Queen. As her momentary attempt at regality melts into a huge instead it turns out his larger-than-life physique is pretty good for things less martially-inclined, to. That is, he's pretty okay to hug. Even with the wetness of the tears and stuff on all his nice Cloudspine velvet. He doesn't seem to rush Symonesse through drying her eyes, letting her have the time she needs as he quietly asides to Terese, "Before the night is through, of course.", with a smile. Some moments later, he finally mentions to the Queen, "The Compact has long way to go to repay all of your kindness, maybe I can strike a little smidge off our debt with your first dance of the night, though? Before someone tries to move in. I did just bring all this attention down on you.", with a little laughter in his tone, just quietly so. Just after he's pulling her along anyway.

Lisebet dances with those looking to dance with her, and then fades off into the background.

Lisebet has left the a large, polished dance floor.

Ramona - A Guard in Ashford House Colours, Bigsby - A Thoughtful Looking Young Man in Nondescript Clothing, 2 Ashford Archer, 1 Ashford Scout leave, following Lisebet.

Denica has left the a large, polished dance floor.

A reserved assistant named Stojan, 3 Thrax Guards, 1 Thrax Elite Guards, A nondescript man named Cato leave, following Denica.

Denica leaves, following Yuri.

Thesbe gives a friendly wave to Caspian and Olivia as she sees them off in the distance and eventually the willowy woman sees Mattheu. A bright smile crept along her lips, but she quickly made way to get a drink and stood watching everyone dance. Cerulean eyes drifting from one person to the next.

Kiera has left the a round table with inset amber and glass badgers.

Kiera has joined the a large, polished dance floor.

Sydney has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Terese smiles warmly as Aindre asks the Queen to dance and says, "Of course," she replies warmly, letting the two pass to go to the dance floor respectfully.

Olivia sips on whatever drink is in front of her, hoping that it wouldn't put her on her ass, she spots Thesbe's wave and gave a wave herself, followed with a warm smile.

Vitalis sweeps through steps, eyes lifting from Liara to look ahead of them and look around the room, gaze lighting on Graysons.

Jingling bells singing out echoing off of walls of the large ballroom, each followed with a soft laugh, as the Rivenshari lord has taken to the dance floor and is mostly hopping about before stopping and allowing each bell to find its own silence. Then turning to Kiera with a simple yet elegant bow, "A dance Lady Kiera?"

"Oh, gods. Stop it, Aindre, or I'm never going to stop crying all over you!" Symonesse lingers in the hug for a few moments, probably just using the extra time to truly test to absorbancy of Cloudspine velvet. She finally releases the Grayson prince, though her eyes are still red-rimmed and the end of her nose cast in scarlet as well. Apparently, the Queen of the Compact is an ugly crier. She sniffles a little and then gives Terese a smile and says, "It is a pleasure to see you again, Princess Terese." She opens her mouth to say more, but is being swept away toward the dance floor before she can complete the thought. On the dance floor, Symonesse assumes the proper form for the dance and murmurs something to Aindre, her dazzling smile doing a little bit to steal the sadness out of her eyes.

Symonesse has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Symonesse has joined the a large, polished dance floor.

Raven drawgs Oswyn over towards where Ian lurks on the edges, "Look who got their sash without having to get up on the Dais." she gestures towards Oswyn like he's a prize on a gamshow.

Raven has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

"Lovely to see you again as well your Majesty," Terese manages to tell Symonesse before she is pulled away. Terese turns to Olivia seeing her still sitting. "Care to dance with a Knight," she questions chuckling lightly

Oswyn has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Whatever Watcher snagged from the server, she doesn't like it. There's a grimace, an attempt at a second sip, and a *much larger grimace*, at which point she sets the glass on the next platter carried past her. Someone will like it, probably. She doesn't wander back toward where she was sitting, instead she pauses in place, regarding the room as a whole for the moment.

Oswyn is holding a sash. "I have a sash now," he tells Ian, apparently not dead or mauled.

"He's probably got the right idea," Ian says to Raven in a dry tone. Then he nods to Oswyn. "Archlector. Glad you could make it, eventually."

Raven's expression pinches, "Aye." She allows grudgingly, "Smart booger. " She fishes out a flask and hands it to Oswyn to be unscrewed, "Don't reckon any of this means you get a bit of a break for a bit, my lord?" her tone suggesting she's not sure if down time is a good thing or not in Ian's book.

A soft giggle floats from the dance floor as Artorius lifts Keely in a spin-and-hop before they resume a more generic step, now moving into the third song played by the band in the balcony. She is still grinning, her eyebrows lifting a bit at something he says before her quiet reply follows.

Terese has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Terese has joined the a large, polished dance floor.

"Thank you, Lord Ian. I didn't realize it was a medal and sash sort of thing," Oswyn says, looking down at the aforementioned sash. "I thought it was just happy dancing. Do I wear this now?" He is so awkward. This man has never gotten a medal in his life. Then he's got a flask to open, so he just drapes the sash over the shoulder of his jacket, twists the flask open, and hands it back to Raven. Because apparently he has the use of both his arms now. Not a bandage, splint, or sling on him.

Olivia has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Olivia has joined the a large, polished dance floor.

Moving with her accustomed grace, though still absent flourish or flair to add to it, Liara exchanges some quiet words with Vitalis. At a suitable juncture in the music, she elects to draw away, with a small smile for the Clement. "Thank you, my lord." Then, without much further ado, she absents herself from the celebration, withdrawing deeper into the mansion.

"I will do my best to try and keep you safe Lady Olivia," Terese says warmly as she takes lead to lead Olivia to the dance floor

Liara has left the a raised platform.

Ian shrugs to Raven. "Things are starting to heat up in the Isles. I don't know how all that's going to go, or how much I'll be needed. I'd be surprised if I didn't see combat. Did you say something about taking a vacation?"

Monique rises from the table carefully, her hand in Corban's. The Minx leans in to murmur something softly before allowing the First Captain the lead towards the dance floor. There's no upbeat movements for the Minx; instead, she wraps her arms around Corban's neck and sways, gently. There's a wink over to Olivia like 'see? I'm being good'.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Keely before departing.

Monique has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Monique has joined the a large, polished dance floor.

"I'm not /trying/ to make you cry!", Prince Aindre says, pleading his innocence right then and there even if he doesn't really need to because he's already sweeping her away to dance. He doesn't quite give her puppy eye as he takes her into his arms, but it's close. Whatever she whispers to him after he answers aloud, "Oh, I do realize.", with that laughter there once more and then he falls into quieter conversation as he keeps the lead of their dancing bodies at a more conversational pace too. There's a lot of evening left and he looks determined to be a little languid with some of it.

Vitalis has joined the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Olivia follows Terese to the dance floor, her pink dress swaying with each step, she grins at Monique after noticing her being careful.

Corban has left the long table of polished wood with griffins rampant climbing its legs.

Corban has joined the a large, polished dance floor.

Raven's lips press gently, a flicker of worry about the things heating up in the islands, "If there's any way I can be helpful let me know." Her lips press at the vacation question, "I've several things to see to first. We'll see how those shake out. Then if things permit, yes. Someplace sunny, warm, and with no one else around." She looks to Oswyn, "What about you, Oswyn?"

Vitalis bows to Liara at the conclusion of their dance, expression solemn and watches the High Lord depart. A big breath in and out, he turns and snags a drink from a passing attendant and spots his friend Sorrel, joining her glass lifted in salute.

Tarik leans back in his chair to better watch the coupls on the dance floor.

Thesbe beams brightly as she sees Olivia in the gown she made for her. Like a dainty beautiful flower amongst a field of them. The shy woman would give a wink in Olivia's direction and sips at her drink idly.

Corban steps forward and places his hands on Monique's waist, swaying with her a bit in time to the music. Yes, he is doing no dips and no spins, and he seems more than fine with that, leaning in to murmur to her.

"Libraries," Oswyn tells Raven and Ian. "Research. Possibly another expedition north. Which is, ah, the opposite of a southern vacation. But I could, in theory, leave the libraries and research for a time."

Ian finishes his drink, and then angles his head towards the dance floor. "You two should dance or something. I'm going to take off." He said he'd be here. He's here. Now he's leaving, apparently.

Raven dips her hed, "Fare thee well, My lord." She looks to Oswyn, "I did promise you a dance."

"Be well," Oswyn echoes to Ian. He smiles very slightly at Raven. "My dance hasn't been revoked? Let's, then."

Caspian spies Ian finishing his drink and grins impishly. he rushes across the floor, cutting through the crowd to approach Ian with a smile.... but was sadly to late

Caspian sighs and looks to Raven and oswyn, "i was going to ask him for a dance.."

Tesha gives a look over the dance floor and there's a bit of a wistful look before she shakes her head. She then gives quiet words to those she was sitting with before she rises to head for the exit.

Tesha has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Raven snorts at Caspian and grins, "Pretty sure Lord Ian don't dance but maybe I'm wrong. Didn't you owe a few ladies a dance, Caspian? Speaking of dancing, would you excuse us? I have a promise to collect on."

2 Telmarine Guards leaves, following Tesha.

Oswyn has joined the a large, polished dance floor.

Raven has joined the a large, polished dance floor.

Oswyn pauses to drape the sash over himself and offers his arm to Raven. A quick smile at Caspian, and something more quiet is said.

Caspian turns to Raven and laughs, "Well i certainly don't think he does either.. but never know till you try!" he looked to Oswyn, offering a bow of his head in thanks with a broad smile. He makes his way to the dance floor, watching Olivia and terese and the other dancers, clapping along with the music

Raven laughs at whatever Oswyn says to Caspian, "That goes for me as well, Caspian." She chuckles and follows Oswyn to the dance floor, "You're a good friend. Nay, A Good human being."

Oswyn does some quick calculations for placement of hands given the location of splints and settles one hand on Raven's waist, taking the other in his own. "And... here we go." The Archscholar is not a particularly good dancer, but he's not bad, either. There's a quick smile for Raven as they step and turn.

Oswyn adds, "I blame that time with the licking."

Raven smiles and to her credit she DOES let Oswyn lead. Misteps or the line she follows seamlessly, her good arm draped along his arm and hand resting over his shoulderblade.

Vitalis looks over to Raven and Oswyn dancing and the solemnity he's carried for much of the evening dissipates like smoke. And shortly after... so does he.

Vitalis has left the a magnificent map table of Arvum made of oak and marquetry inlays.

Watcher eventually turns and weaves her way through party goers in the direction of the entrance, vanishing into the crowd.

Tarik has left the a round table with inset amber and glass badgers.

Terese she whispered her responce to Monique she quietly watched the dancers as she sips something to drink and eats some food

Mattheu finds his way from the dance floor heading with a stride that leads him directly through a few others, a duck here, dodge there as he side steps around another couple, picking up a drink on the way then another as he spins back around and ends up in front of Thesbe with a soft grin.

Mattheu has left the a large, polished dance floor.

Raven spins away and dips into a curtsey to Oswyn then rises with a grin, offering him her hand.

Thesbe looks up to Mattheu from trying to find Linx, a sweet smile tugging at the corners of her lips. The glass in her hand is pretty much empty and she nods to Mattheu, a slight chuckle.

After a brief, quiet chat, Keely flashes smiles to those at her table, rising with a new flute of champagne and wandering through the hall to say hellos to various people that she missed earlier in the evening.

Thesbe and Mattheu seem to be quietly conversing whilst Thesbe sips at the drink she was given.

Oswyn parts with Raven, bows, and... turns to blink at the pile of pink gown on the dancefloor. He looks from Olivia to Caspian, murmurs, "He's got this," and offers his arm to Raven so they might promenade to the exit. So respectable.

Caspian checks strength and performance at hard. Caspian is successful.

Alantir quietly enters the great hall with the intent to warm himself, even if only momentarily, and apologize for a belated arrival. Upon spotting general frivolity and dancing, however, he freezes -- and then retreats promptly into the cold of the courtyard to continue his evening stroll.
