Changes to the thralls matter little to me: their lives spent is an empty page in an endless book. Perhaps the survivors will look ahead with more joy.

I won't.

Relationship Note on Ysbail

She is energetic, upbeat, positive, and an altogether happy person. Normally this sort of person is the one that annoys me the most because it feels so disingenuous and more often than not annoying. This one however presents it all in such a way that it seems quite genuine and controlled. I approve of it. She has agreed to aid me in the busting of entities beyond my understanding.

I suspect I should introduce Samantha to her. They'll probably get along marvelously. Though maybe too marvelously. Perhaps I should save myself the headache and not.

Unexpected surprises await around every turn. Wonderful surprises of course, but surprises no less.

The Dominus and I discussed the role of the Lodge. It was pleasing, really, to be taken seriously, to discuss and consider how best I might assist the city and the Faith together. No firm conclusion was reached, though the question of my swearing to the Faith was raised again. I don't know, as yet, if I should; yes, several nobles seem to manage quite well serving both house and church; but their duties are distinctly different.

Hana and I rode to the Saiklands to visit my family. Da's leg is still giving him trouble; I showed him again how to use the feverdew infusion on his dressings to bring the worst out - and we found some old family relics, though nothing as worrying as I'd hoped. It was good to see how everyone was; that they've weathered the storm.

Sometimes, it's good to see things do not change.

I do welcome the attempt, Your Highness. To be fair, the deck was stacked against you with the last one.

As usual, I've taken some heat for things I've said. It's not that I _actually_ miss the Bringers or the death they caused. I just miss the challenge of fighting them and find myself slipping back into the depressive boredom when Ribbons isn't around to light up the day.

My solution? Agree to go on a little adventure for a friend trekking off into the forest looking for nasty supernatural things and bring her along. Is it sad that this is the sort of honeymoon I think we'll both enjoy? Probably to some, but I'm content as long as I get to stab something on the trip, even if it's my wife.

Relationship Note on Valencia

The Masquerade Ball was a hit and if I might add I believe a great success. The masks were fantastic and the hidden identities a great mystery. I hope to attend next time with my own.

Thank you, Your Highness, for hosting such a wonderful event and opening up your Hart to do so. I join the sentiments of others who expressed that it was the kind of event that was needed at the right time.

As I begin to write this, I realize the pain my hand feels after writing so many letters. It took a great deal of time and effort, but it was well worth it. The pains and cramps in my hand that I feel now are trivial and fleeting. Our House lost many in defense of the Compact, as many other Houses did as well. The pain in my hand is a welcomed sensation. It is a sensation which I must embrace with thankfulness in my heart. Those who gave their lives made the ultimate sacrifice, so accepting the discomfort of writing a few letters is the least I can do to pay respects to those who gave all for the people of Arvum. In order to permit those very people the opportunity to write on into the future. Those who committed themselves in the Compact, in Arvum's, most desperate hour has my eternal respect - both those who continue to live and those who have passed on to Elysia.

So write I shall, out of respect to those lost.

Relationship Note on Ysbail

Mistress Ysbail is a Shaman and young healer from Crovane lands. I've recently had the pleasure of having a few discussions with her and find her to be bright and driven, both good qualities for someone who has goals as lofty as she does. I hope that her new undertaking is successful, as I believe as she does - that it is good for her people, for Crovane, and for the North as a whole.

Relationship Note on Fiachra

I do not know the new Prince of Valardin well, but I can see the type of man he is when I see how Princess Alis looks at him. I enjoyed the short time we spent in Sanctum and on our return home, and look forward to getting to know him better soon.

I have never visited Sanctum before, except in stories and historic literature, so when I was invited to Princess Alis and Prince Fiachra's wedding, of course I was excited to go. It is one thing to imagine how you think a place should be; another to visit there, and walk upon the streets and talk to the people. Sanctum was everything that I expected - full of honor, full of tradition, rich with history - but it was something else entirely as well, and I think I learned a thing or two during my stay.

I long for the North even moreso now, though. And so in a few short days, I'll be packing up the horses and gathering up some guards to travel back to Farhaven. I have lived in Farhaven only in my memories and imagination for too long; it is far past the time to see my home again.

I visited the new Shrine to the First Choice. My people have ever worshipped the First Choice on the open road beneath the open sky, maintaining no tie to anything that might chain us. It was strange to be in that place, to look upon stones and altar and think... perhaps there is a time for all things to settle. Perhaps forging ties and connections to a place isn't a chain that makes one a slave. Maybe it's time to change.

The Lament is clear of bodies, and yet so much remains to be done. I need stonecutters, an architect, and a clear vision from the Voice of Thrax as to what she wants to do with this gap.

At least now I can contemplate what to do next without my heart breaking for the innocents who died there.

Princess, beneath the glinting yellow quartz eyes of the fox mask, was me. Honestly, it was a comfort to assume the role of the creature the mask was fashioned of: clever, confident. All adjectives that I would have used to describe aspects of my own personality once before.

With my ego weighed down, I would apply those descriptions to you. Now.

A gentle soul, a joyous laugh, your heart a blooming rose for the want to help everyone.
