The recent scandal reminds me that, whatever my conflict with another Peer, it is to be resolved diplomatically and honorably.

The commons give we nobles their toil, talent, and treasure. In return, we give them calm, unified leadership in tumultuous circumstances.

Honor demands we uphold our end of the bargain.

People get obsessions about the weirdest shit. I am not entirely certain why whether someone is spoiled or not needs days worth of going on about. I guess it does pass for vague sort of entertainment.

*added into the journal:*

As much delight as Sameera takes in making the life of the Prince of Maelstrom uncomfortable she has decided to seek a patron that needs a protege and can use what Sameera has to offer. Sameera is not the most pleasant company, in fact she is quite orny and rather threatening towards people, especially those who she has affection for. BUT she'll defend the few she likes in her own.. special way.

She is not interested in 'winning' anyone over to be her patron nor is she interested in the 'tell me why I should be your patron' stuff. She's a jeweller, a well skilled investigator and steward. THat is the extent of the 'sales pitch' she has.

Also. She is most likely to go with the first person she thinks will be the least annoying and actually could use the help of a protege.

She doesn't particularly care about getting silver, she might ask for supplies on occassion, she thinks getting gifts is more of a punishment than not, and she is likely to skip out on pretty much every social gathering that might be planned.

Terms can, entirely be negotiated.

PS. Anyone who speaks ill of the Prince of Maelstrom, Princess Fatima Thrax, Princess Donella Redrain, or Duke Harald Grimhall will be instantly dismissed. alos, her duties for Grimhalls will often be prioritized since she is sworn to them.

OOC: I am looking for someone who wants to RP on the regular. I'm pretty much just wanting someone Sameera can do things for (that involves more than makes shinies). And to also expand my circle to those outside Thrax. Or attempt too.

As the man who ran the event that Princess Reese and Prince Ainsley aguement had possibly produced the opposite effect of what I was going for, I might as well weigh in.

I can not speak for Princess Reese's character. I am only an acquaintance to her, only seeing her in public. I had never even met Prince Ainsley before this event.

What I do know is if you are going to fight with your siblings, especially when you are important like the Graysons, take it indoors. Prince Ainsley should not have dragged Grayson's dirty laundry into the training center.

On a happier note, I met Princes Donella today! When she was still Princess Donella Thrax, she had freed me from Thralldom, a favor that I could never repair her in a thousand years for. She was every bit as kind and gracious as I imagined her to be, and if I don't stop grinning soon my lips might fall off under the strain!

I missed what sounds like an interesting free-for-all yesterday, it would have been nice to get out and practice with new people, but my first duty is to Arx and his Majesty, and no-one was inclined to trade shifts.

Ah well, perhaps next time.

Dear Oathlands, we need to have a talk about this liver and milk sauce dish I keep being sent from the kitchens. Princess Alis assures me it is a traditional dish for pregnancy, that being said-no one in the kitchens gets to look at me funny when I ask for raw fish with lemon on it ever again. This child will be a proper Oathlander, so I am doing things by the book. But the next one you can bet I will be eating more Southport styled dishes. I crave seafood salad, I dream about it. I want nothing more than to sit with my poor feet in the water with a whole bucket of oysters and some lemon. I can't recall the last time I have thought about food so often or been so constantly hungry. Only a few months to go.

Aye this is rich, rich people trying to tell the rest of the world they ain't spoiled eh. I be with Shard on this one. A'course, the measure of who be spoiled be rollin out the tongues of those who claim to be honorable and then work together in a group of five or more aye, to take down one old untrained commoner.

Aye aye, ya lot be not-spoiled and honorable. Suppose me shit don't stink while we be at it!

But I must be sayin, if any of you lot feel too spoiled, reckon I could be using some better boots and me pockets always be open for more silver.

If all you have is a bit of red steelsilk, you can still send it and I'd rightly appreciate it, not trying to look a gift horse in the mouth or nothing. I just mean if you're buying it on purpose to send me, then I'd make better of use it being undyed, but you can send anything and that would be more than fine and I would be most grateful with any color or hue or anything.

Just silk is fine as well, really. Or if you've good fine wool, I'll also take it.

In case anyone is reading who is very rich, when I said red is best, that is only if it's a lot of steelsilk that you are sending me. If you aren't sending me a lot of steelsilk, just a bit, maybe just raw is best, not dyed or nothing, so I can see if I can have it dyed to match the rest I get. My father is a dyer, not that he works with steelsilk or nothing like it, it's just mostly linen and plain colors, nothing fancy, but he does good work, so I figure I could find someone to dye it for me and that way I won't have different kinds of red.

If it was red and yellow or red and green or blue, that would be one thing and that would be fine, but I'd rather not have two different shades of red, most likely.

Anyway, I don't know anyone rich as a Duke who's reading this or not, as I've no idea who'd care. If it's about the songs, I'm working on another but that won't be for a while. But in case anyone feels like their purse is a bit too heavy for comfortable carrying all the way to the bank, here I am. And it'd be a good deed for the Compact too.

I had a good time at the fight up to a point. I nearly lasted right to the end, but there were too many folk hitting me and I arrived late so I wasn't able to make any deals with folk, which is useful in these things.

I find it's better practice than dueling, as you're almost never fighting one person alone on the battlefield. In sparring and I figure duels, though I don't duel myself, sometimes you just focus only on the person in front of you. Now a good helmet's likely to block some of my sight on the sides and such, so any reminders to keep an eye out are good reminders. You put two folk down that you've been fighting, and someone else hits you from the side and that's it. Usually on a battlefield you at least know who's likely to attack you and who isn't, but some folk might have reason to worry about treachery.

Also, I don't rightly understand what all the fuss is about, but if anyone cares to spoil me, I reckon I'd be proper spoiled by some steelsilk. You can send it to Leta Broadbent in the Uppers and I wouldn't mind any. Red is best.

Relationship Note on Alarie

What the fuck are you talking about? Who said I was offended? I was pointing out that if you're buying multiple ships you have a fuckload of coin. Which you worked for. Good for you. I'm not sure what my profession has to do with anything, unless it's not good enough for your tastes. Does it not qualify as hard work for you? Not generous enough? Not honorable enough? Not enough nights bleeding into the dirt for you, protecting ships like yours, caravans like yours, making sure people don't run off with your hard worked goods so you can actually spend that coin on pink painted ships and turn your noses up at people 'selling each swing of our swords'? That's cute. My poor tender feelings are so bruised now.

If you spent that long reading through my bullshit, you might take the time to actually read what I recently wrote. I said I wasn't mad at Reese. I'm not calling her horrible, I said calling her the 'least spoiled' was ridiculous. That implies that maybe, just maybe, she might be a little spoiled sometimes. Most nobles are, let alone one with that much to her name. But by all means, keep acting like someone lit her house on fire by suggesting she's not perfect.

Pretty sure those boats were boats with my own sweat and many nights sewing in my tiny shop in the Thrax ward on very little sleep. Sooooo sorry that my hard work and investing what coin I have into ensuring my son won't have to work through the night when he's as old as me offends your sell sword sensibilities. If that makes me as horrible as a pretty good woman, then i'll take that. Through and through.

Though going back through your whites, and yes, I took an hour to get out of the shop and go look, I get the feeling that when you're not selling each swing of your sword, you're picking through the archives to start a fight. Sure, there's gotta be something better? No? Probably not.

How heartwarming that everyone is coming together to defend the honor of a poor, sad Princess and General of House Grayson, the ruling house of the Compact. Truly this is the person who needs our rallying cry.
