September is too quickly coming to a close. I went to the botanical gardens tonight to enjoy the flowers while they still cling to their greens. I met Lord Farshaw there. It was a pleasant conversation .. most of the time. He is too forward for my tastes.

Another successful Darts and Drinking Contest at the Murder of Crows!
In darts...
Princess Reese Grayson claimed both the high throw of the night and the championship, defeating Josephine Arcuri 146 to 136.
In drinking...
High Lord Victus Thrax and Lady Kalani Seliki went five rounds before neither could manage to figure out how to hold a cup. I got tired of waiting for them and so we flipped a join. Lady Kalani won the coin flip!
And the booze was Magpie's idea and I'm not going to write about it because the white journals are not a toilet.

I have not met him more than a couple of times perhaps within the past, but I've found it through documents on our lineage, that he is a second cousin to me. While I hope that all will serve their fealties true, I also want them to know the family is there for them.

I was at a tavern tonight and High Lord Victus was there. He said, "I was curious. What's the point of wanting to know shit if you're not gonna ask?" Of course he was talking about something that ended up with him getting pretty thwapped I think. ((No, Scholar, I'm not sure if it's a word or how to spell it. I trust you!))

I am a rather chatty sort as of late. Or writey sort, if you please. A few things that need remark so I might look back and appreciate this wordy time I'm having.
Joscelin - you are already pretty much my platonic wife. I've no plans to ever marry again for real, with a band on my finger and having to share my big comfy bed for more than a night, but truly. I would do terrible damage to anyone who might hurt you.
Said pretty much platonic wife and my brother, Austen, have met. I smile just imaging how this might have went. Chuckle, even. Two people I could not love more and yet so different.
Lessons. I don't give them often, to be honest. Unless, I suppose, one counts apprentices and really? Such teaching is paid back to me in spades by passing on methods and seeing them grow to be smiths in their own right. That is more precious than any silver, gold, or platinum dukes. The few lessons I do give, I don't charge for because I am no legend. I have not leveled a wall with my fists, nor can I forge alaricite. Perhaps well-knownish in the city of Arx now, but no legend like those who have been briefly mentioned. Also a commoner, which might negate all debate anyhow.
I don't really have an opinion, I suppose. If you give zero effs what people think? Have at it, I say.

I have been spending time enjoying the companionship of someone lately. Something they said, however, struck me as very odd. They asked me my intentions and explained that they wanted to know because any potential marriage would require me leaving de Lire (this will never happen, ever). It gave me a pause because they had said people had turned them away because of this. Are there nobles who truly turning away companionship? When I chose to step into my place in Audric's new house I gave up the commoner's freedom of marriage.
When I marry, it will be someone Audric approved. It will be someone who is willing to join us and live in a creepy mansion. As such it will likely be someone from another barony, or a commoner of enough esteem it won't cause too much of a stir that they are elevated to peerage. When I marry it will be about what will bring something to our house, not about who I care for and whose companionship I enjoy.
Love and marriage are two different beasts, and I shall keep my thoughts on the former to myself.

Some weeks ago, I did put forth that I was available for diplomacy tutoring, and mentioned that payment could be determined. I was under the mistaken belief that others might value what they pay for more than what they are given, but the flaw in that logic is profound, and I regret taking that approach.
The book I wrote remains free to anyone who desires a copy, and tutoring will not require payment. However, if those I teach feel that what I've offered merits recompense, I would have them donate to the Faith instead.
