Relationship Note on Khanne
Write about those you know of, of yourself. Commit to Vellichor's memory not just that you go to stand against the countless shards of darkness, of a mighty maw of the Devourer who wishes to engulf Arvum. Write about the little things which colour the names of who will one day become legends so people in the future know the lives that were lived and sacrificed for the many lives that will come.
For example, Duchess Khanne absolutely adores hairpins. She has probably over a hundred pairs and is always overjoyed and happy when a new pair is gifted to her.
I like to eat the Blueclaw Vine, it has a hot and peppery flavour and a velvet texture. It also has a faint glow of light blue in the summer nights, and if you were in Caldera you could catch a very rare moment when the nightbirds come to drink the nectar of those flowers and their feathers glow with a million different colours like little rainbows or auroras at night.

Duchess Halfshav, you might be the third person in so many days to tell me that I should keep wearing the vests. And only the vests. Have to admit, I'm not really sure what this says more about. Either I look good in a vest, or I'm accidentally setting a new fashion trend.

Relationship Note on Khanne
In the way that the moon follows the sun, so have Khanne and I tread the same ground and cared for the same people over the past nine years. We were not fast friends. Instead, we skirted the periphery of each other's lives for a long while, our paths intermittently crossing. With time, we were able to look back and see how our paths had woven together, what friendship had grown without our noticing.
When I have hidden from the world for too long, it is so often Khanne who draws me back out, accompanying me to a party or a poetry reading or simply a walk through the gardens. When I am afraid of getting too excited over things which might not work out, she reminds me to celebrate that moment of hope and possibility, whatever will come. She is my anchor, my complement and my dearest friend.
I am so exceedingly pleased with how well our utterly indulgent night went. Such a selfish thing, in truth, all to meet interesting people. You did not disappoint, Arx. Thank you.

The Duchess was the other co-host for last eve's event. Always ready with laughter and free with her emotions, she is happy to take things as they are on the surface - even if she may not fully buy into them. To say she is the opposite of the Marquessa is not quite accurate, but certainly a perfect complement indeed for my patron. I look forward to seeing what these two get up to next.

My dearest and most favorite person named Duchess Khanne Halfshav (whom I have given the middle name of Gladys Herbert Pebble), the best part of winter in Arx is dragging a small boat to the highest peak of the capital above the boroughs, getting in the small boat, and sliding all the way down without plummeting to your death.
It is wandering around the maze on the Velenosa grounds, completely lost in frosted covered hedges, having only foot prints of previously wrong turns as your guide.
The stillness of my favorite pool, iced over and trapped in a moment of perfection.
Arx is quite beautiful, even covered in snow.

I don't usually participate in these sort of opinion-sharing journal posts as I would much rather mindlessly copy others while pretending I'm being original, but as it is my sister who asks...
The smells. The snow tends to dampen the bad ones, and the good ones are woodsmoke and hot beverages and crisp, clean air. If I absolutely must go outside, that's what I like best.

Duchess Khanne's impromptu belated birthday celebration was incredible fun! Too often I let duties keep me from parties and I am glad I put down the ledgers for a change to attend this one. Such a warm gathering of people who clearly adore our beloved Vala, which I count myself among. From song to drink to one of the most cheerful cakes I have ever seen, I enjoyed myself a great deal. I even won twenty silver in a bet with Lord Kritr! I do believe Lady Rosalind has a new nickname now as well. All told, I am very glad I went and must try to do so more often for such things going forward.

In prose, let me say that there is indeed a disagreement between me and Lord Alecstazi for the rude and callous way he treated Lady Mikani when she passed on her regency to Count Graham. At that time, he disparaged our union on the grounds that it grew out of affection, and was later consented to by my cousin and the Faith, for the mutual benefit of Houses Byrne, Redreef and Crovane. This is the parallel of the situation that has arisen between Lord Alecstazi and Lady Brianna, though, of course, Lord Alecstazi is still talking of social climbing, even as my wife handles the finances of my House with skill and competency and my three children grace the black tree of Crovane.
In truth though, I hold no serious grudge against him. Poets must exercise their wit when opportunities arise. A great trial awaits my muse, and we must sharpen our poetic skills to meet it. I hope that Lady Brianna smiles when she reads my verse, but if not, I will desist. We have undergone many trials, and I have noticed that when she is angry with me, the ink of her missives is particularly deeply engraved in the parchment.
The wedding celebration was magnificent - save for the accident - and I am very pleased to see Duchess Khanne's House growing, and Lady Brianna happy.

It is not exceedingly often that I have the pleasure of the company of the Vala of the Spirit Walkers, but I was fortunate enough to find myself in her presence at the Taste of Arx Ball. We spoke of the magnificence of the palace, where the ball was held, the splendor of its guests, how all the wonders of court produced a greater appreciation of those of nature, and vice versa. Duchess Khanne herself was dressed in a fine gown, and adorned with precious jewelry in the style of our Northlands. Stately and elegant was her demeanor, yet it possessed all the warmth of a Spring morning in the sunlight.
I hope it will not be too long before I again have the pleasure of her company.
