I went out to see my folk, and they are safe and sound for the time being, not counting my brother, who keeps going to the Lowers for drink and such and maybe a sweetheart. But that's fine.
I've not been doing much, between helping some folk or another on their patrols, or doing a job or two for coin. Folk still need guards and such in these days, perhaps more than usual even. Some think a bit much of themselves, though. It would be bad for business if they were to read this, but I don't think any Bringer or demon lord's going to care enough to send killers after them. But if they've got the coin, I've got the steel. I ought to get back to practice more, though, it's been a while since I've had a good workout.

The voice rang out over the forest, a tempestuous thunder that attempted to shake snow down from the mountains.
But mother mountain had roots that ran deep, older than this seasonal storm still in its spring.
The wind whipped through the crags, echoing through caverns that time had long since forgotten, and yet mother mountain did not stir.
Attention was held by the tempest, for it was the loudest and demanded to be paid heed like a petulant child.
The thunder had its hour, its time upon the stage, but died as quickly as it had been born while mother mountain remained as she always had.

Relationship Note on Niccolo
Where would I be without House Velenosa and Archduke Niccolo? Well, on the road as a Knight of Solace but I don't hold it against my liege or his family. The Archduke taught me to fight as a child and House Gilden remains a loyal and staunch ally and vassal of House Velenosa. We are a small family with few holdings but Archduke Niccolo has shown nothing but respect and so as ever he and House Velenosa will retain my respect and affection.

The impressive new Duchess of Tor, Calista Fidante is growing into her role well. We shae a little in common in regards to the lack of expectation of rulership and while she rules a duchy and I only a barony, I feel there is some common ground there.

Relationship Note on Stefano
I still remember the sword lessons I gave Stefano when he was younger. He showed promise back, then I have to wonder how he's kept up with his training. I haven't had a chance to sit down with him properly since he arrived to the city, but I'm hoping to rectify that as soon as we're both able to make the time for it. Perhaps in the next day or two.

Relationship Note on Isabetta
Stefano and Isabetta are both recently arrived to the city. I've had a chance to spend more time with Isabetta, but I'm hoping to remedy that with Stefano soon enough. Isabetta is still getting used to the city, as she says, she kept being sent after criminals trying to escape in the wilds around Caith. I think she will do very well here, although it does bring me sadness that she did not have a chance to see Esera. We've spoken some about my daughter, though, and it's good to see her good friend trying to honor her trough her actions.

Relationship Note on Ford
I haven't had a chance to catch up properly with Ford yet. Considering what we will be facing soon, I intend to remedy that. Perhaps over a bottle of wine or whiskey. If anything, I need to thank him for showing up to that event that I hosted with Mistress Mailys. He was certainly a good sport.
