Relationship Note on Turo

Count Turo Navegant has already proven himself a good friend and member to the Society of Explorers; he came bearing charts and old sailing journals to contribute to the Society's records. Anyone who donates to the shelves has my respect and thanks.

Besides which, it's good to have a sailor in our ranks -- the majority of our members are of the land-locked sort, and it could well prove useful to have access to a ship for some expeditions. Diversity of skills is key to the Society being able to take on a variety of expeditions, after all.

Gods know, I'd never have made it along the coast of the Wastes, or out to that one island in the Mourning Isles, if I hadn't been able to take passage on a ship for a while. And I can only assume there will be a few expeditions that crop up in the Isles and the Saffron Chain -- or even one to venture into the Wastes, someday. Having a ship -- or at least a member with experience sailing one -- could prove vital to those.

By Gloria, I never thought I'd see such a day -- to be honored so, to be _esteemed_ so, by the family I am so pleased to offer my service to.

Lordy, what a day! I just hope Princess Marian is all right.

Relationship Note on Valencia

Val always knows how to put on a wonderful party and the Hart is the perfect place for it that people should use more often. I should probably try to do my part more to help with that, but...guh, effort.

Relationship Note on Alexis

This Oathlander armorsmith turned up at the Society looking for me. She was another friend of Niamh's, and wanted to express her condolences -- and share memories. It was... oddly relaxing, in a way. Sad, yes, but... nice to have a conversation that was about little things Nia did, rather than about the fate of the world or some impending abyssal threat.

(Gods, some days my to-do list would seem unfathomably odd to the Aislin of five years ago.)

They've made a treaty with the elves. With what they did to us when we entered the forest, it seems unthinkable to allow such madmen inside the city or wed one of their kind to the King, but Aislin tells me their perspective is merely... different from ours. So I must be open-minded, or at least try to accept them.

The upside is that we were finally able to go into the forest to deal with the remnants of the devastation left by Brand's march. For that alone I am grateful, though I worry that our work is far from done.

I am absolutely thrilled that so many people had a good time at our Autumn Festival. Seeing everyone cornholing so joyously with one another on the lawn was truly a sight to behold.
We will certainly have to do it again sometime.

Relationship Note on Mae

My Cousin Mae is a great friend, I always enjoy spending time with her, talking, gossiping and whatever else we might get up to together. I had the joy of running into her this past week, and I learned that she is learning to play the Banjo. I had never thought to see her take up a musical instrument, and I shall encourage her to play every time I see her!

The King's recovery is welcome news, perhaps the first of that kind in quite some while. Though I am cautious of how things may proceed with the elves, it is best to be optimistic: some in the Defense Ministry were concerned for the violence their presence in the city might incite, but I must have faith in the value of diplomacy and alliance. Indeed, if we can cooperate with the elves, then Thrax should have little trouble getting along with its fellow houses... or one would hope.

I had a long chat with my dear cousin the other day about boys, girls, and many other things as well.

With the city returning to a relatively peaceful state, and the joyous news of the king returning, I thought it might be a wonderful time for the Mummers to put on a performance to help lift the spirits and look forward. I think I shall pursue this in the coming weeks, with my fellow entertainers.

Efforts for the Arvum Refugee Relief Group continue onward and upward! Busy, busy, busy! It's a rarity for me to have personal time of late, so I instead invest much of my time and effort into matters of business and charity. Thankfully there are a great many people within ARRG that are both supportive and dedicated to helping those in need.

This is a cause that is dear to me and that I will strive, always, to put it before even my own needs.

Though I should possibly take some free time to myself soon! Look into this matter of cornhole that I've heard House Valardin has been feverishly promoting of late. From what I've heard it's a sport that one can really ease themselves into.

Another busy week has passed in a blur. The fashion show went well enough and was made delightful by the company and help of Lady Juliana. She is such an honest and vivid person, the idea that anyone could be outwardly cruel to her is baffling. I look forward to our next project together and look forward to all the positive changes we will be able to bring to the Orphanage.

The next day was the Laurent fall festival and I cannot speak highly enough of it. Lady Jael and Duke Cristoph absolutely shined. It was entertaining and clever and there were all sorts of goodies to try. Not to mention the sight of everyone cornholing - the best part of the evening by far.

Princess Valencia's party tonight and the Pravus birthday celebration tomorrow - which will also mark the opening of the Arx Botanical Gardens, a project I've been working on for ages and and so lucky to have the Duchess Pravus and Lady Carita to partner with.

Unfortunately I missed a grand event at in Reflection Square, just beyond our very own Southport Square. It wasn't until my return trip home from errands that I discovered that I was walking through a fashion show of some sort. While I was late to the affair and did not linger for long, what I did see was most impressive. Such lavish outfits and exquisite work put into the show, it is my great shame that I was unable to place a bid on something up for auction. Next time, perhaps. A fine gift for a fine person.

I remain convinced that the final dress of the evening, which was admittedly the only one which I witnessed personally, was by far the finest. I do hope next time I'll be present from the beginning!

Relationship Note on Katarina

I recently attended the wedding of Princess Katarina Valardin. She was fantastic. The ceremony itself was elegant and precisely what I'd expect of a wedding conducted by her House. I do need to remember to speak with the Archlector who officiated the ceremony. There was a great deal of dust in the air. My helmet successfully warded against the majority of it.

The Autumn Festival was such great fun. What a wonderful use of an evening. The games were delightful and I came home with some lovely things. I shall remeowmber it fondly.

Strong winds accompanied our journey south. The fleeing ships are no match for the yawning maw of the Leviathan and Abbas Thrax, and the predation of the Thrax warships go unmatched.

Argento blood, this time. They fall apart the same way the Shav'arvani do, with a similar amount of screaming.

Again I must wash the blood from my face, my hands.

It is rote, but it is the only refreshment that sates me.

The Laurent's festival was lovely and I believe all in attendance enjoyed themselves.

I know that I enjoyed myself. Or at least I enjoyed myself after I thoroughly blundered my own introduction. Let us just hope that only a small few actually noticed. My tutor would be beside himself right now. Perhaps I should summon him from Oakhaven so that he can scowl at me. And let's hope that Margerie does not hear of it...

...why am I writing this as evidence again? Ah yes, as a reminder of my folly. Perhaps one day I can look back and laugh.
