As much as I enjoy tormenting my brother, Apollis? I fail to see why person after person are challenging him--especially for such absurd amounts of silver?
He just recently returned from a war. A war he graciously helped armor me for. I'd be hardpressed to imagine he has more than twenty five thousand silver in his bank, let alone a hundred thousand to burn on military writs for a Grayson House we have no affiliation with. And now he needs to spend even more providing a fancy dress for a ball?
(Note: My apologies to Duke Ashford if his knight was ordered and paid by someone else to issue this challenge. But since no name has been been given and the writs are for House Ashford, I can only assume.)

It's never rude to reward those whose job it is to clean up after you. Even if you insist, they get so offended, I know my assistants think I'm punishing them when I suggest they take the day off. But they light up when I tell them how much they're truly appreciated.
What I'm saying is, even if it's their job? Say 'thank you'. Otherwise your dirty sheets get washed in public or your favorite foods are never at your favorite dining establishment. Or that one piece of jewelry you need repaired just never gets on the ticket in time.
Good manners isn't a class issue; it's a human issue, though I admit this is just my humble opinion.
