Relationship Note on Itzal

I was cleaning out my song collection case today and found some of the songs Itzal wrote. I remembered how we went together to all the open forges in Arx and sang a duet, the Song of the Forge to the smiths and gave a copy of it to the Crafters Guild. He is missed.

Wow, Master Itzal, you sure know just what to say to a girl.

Have it as you will. But know if I hear a ballad about a man in black and a delicate and artistic princess, I will assume you, not I, are the dark-clad gentleman in question, and will do my very best to share this conclusion with the city at large.

That usually turns out to be the explanation for a great many things, Master Itzal! If only I were better at poetry.

You have a very narrow imagination for a bard. Broaden your scope.

Relationship Note on Itzal

A bard in the shadows, bright note in the dark,
Clever as a raven, voice sweet as a lark,
He might as well be invisible
and from his lute, indivisible:
But where does he go ... question mark?

And is his thirst for new instruments unquenchable? Honestly.

Listen, I can only pull whites as fast as Scholar Oswyn can write and he says that he's doing his best. And I believe him, he's great! Never stop being you, Scholar Oswyn! I'm making him write that about himself! So I didn't see your list until after I'd already sent you something. That will have to do for now!

Unless you want me to write you again.

I could.

Do you really want that?

Relationship Note on Itzal

My dearest Master Itzal, what I meant was that there is no possible way anyone could be better than someone such as yourself just rolling in, untrained off the street. No, the only way we can have better performers is if they are taught and trained by the very best--those like you that are currently leagues beyond the rest!

Relationship Note on Itzal

I want to make it as clear as I can here in the whites. My brother, Itzal Culler, has had very, very, very few romantic partners. It's my understanding he's had but two kisses in his entire life (admittedly, at least one of those must have been incredible, worth a million or three). My constant attempts to find him a date are not because he has an overabundance of "close friends", but quite the opposite. I just want my little brother to find a man or woman that makes him happy!

Relationship Note on Itzal

This entry is primarily directed to Master Itzal Culler, but should others wish to give it a try, I will happily judge the outputs:

If you can make a snappy, memorable, child-friendly song which accurately encapsulates the primary duties of the leadership of the Faith, I will pay you 20,000 silver, and see it sung across Arvum. A bonus of 10 thousand silver if you can fit in a verse that reminds people that every godsworn is more than capable of addressing the questions relating to any of the Pantheon, and one does not have to find a priest "of Gild" if one has a question about the goddess - just a priest will do.

Relationship Note on Itzal

As it was asked - so if anyone who makes an effort to pick up these journals wishes to complain about the dry and longwinded nature of this entry...actually, if you are the sort to complain about dry and longwinded journal entries, you are very much reading the wrong one.

But, anyway - the question on the table is "What Does a Legate Do?" and it is a good one. We don't each children, for the record.

The three Legates of the Faith serve as administrative and advisory positions beneath the Dominus of the Faith. Each holds primary responsibility over a Tetrad of Discipleships - mine is Concepts: Limerance, the Sentinel, Gild, and Skald. The Discipleship of the Thirteenth typically reports directly to the Dominus. As it is the Archlectors' and Grandmasters' jobs to manage the day-to-day priorities of their Devoted and their Orders, so it is the Legate's responsibility to ensure that the Archlectors are executing their duties properly, and to provide them whatever support they need for that.

In addition to this, the Legates provide guidance to the Faith on theological matters pertaining to their Tetrads, or theological matters in general, when those matters do not need to be addressed by the Dominus. Each Tetrad has its own requirements as well - Concepts approves noble marriages and has control over the Knights of Solace and their duties; Arts has control of the Templars and of the Scholars, the largest discipleship in the Compact; Creation controls personnel assignments to various parishes across Arvum, and policies regarding tithe collection.

Further, in addition to this, the Legates serve the same purpose as the Voice of a noble house - when required, we speak with the Voice of the Dominus, and can be assumed to have his or her trust in all matters, unless the Most Holy says otherwise. This allows Legates to move troops, make pronouncements and policies, and take care of other matters that the Dominus does not wish to address personally. In concert, the three Legates also stand as the Most Holy's closest advisors, in theory, and are often called to discuss matters that require official Faith stances or actions - the final decision always rests with the Dominus, just as it does with the head of a noble house, but it is the Legates' duty to provide the best advice and guidance they can, from the depths of their experience as theologians and as practicing priests who have worked their way up through the Church.

And there is paperwork. Large piles of parchment, which never really seem to end.
